The next few days have been a blur for Aidan ever since he started working in the Raining Treasures general store. If he had to say anything, it was a peaceful few days of just being a medieval store owner in a fantasy world.

Throughout it all, he learned a lot of things from the different people coming into his shop for his services, ranging from buying simple things to asking for specific items not in store. Rumors spread around the town about a general store that could seemingly give you anything for a cheap price, which got Aidan quite a lot of hustle and bustle as he listened to each customer’s plight and answered with something that they needed.

He experimented quite a lot of things with his Craft skill, allowing him to level up again with his last creation (the frying pan that he made for the sweet old lady), and even increased the skill’s rank on top of it.

Craft Successful! You have created ‘Sturdy Frying Pan’.

You have gained a small amount of experience points.

…..

Level Up! From Level 3, you became Level 4!

You have gained 1 Attribute point and 3 Stat points!

…..

Spell Upgraded! Craft (Bronze) became Craft (Iron)!

According to the ranking scale, he still had quite a lot to go if he wanted to further increase the spell’s capabilities, but he hoped it was enough as he spent the last few nights perfecting a certain recipe he had in mind for the special project he planned on doing tonight.

Nina had come around two days ago to send more diverse materials into the basement for Aidan to practice on, then once again left him behind to do her own business. He often wondered whether he should go after her to see what exactly she was doing with Soul Meditation, but his own plans took precedence first as he needed to first reach up to her in levels.

The past few days were proof that crafting alone would take forever to level up, and he hadn’t even made as many titles as he would’ve liked. He received a title at least for manning the store for so long.

You have gained a title!

“Business Tycoon”

Make a successful few sales without losing momentum. The first step of making an empire is with the first brick!

+1 Wisdom

+1 Charisma

It was decent enough to get another Wisdom point for his mana which has been steadily increasing thanks to his high Intelligence. He was really starting to worry however at how botched his stats were becoming, leaning heavily towards Intelligence than any other stat.

For now, he decided to put his points into Agility, with an emphasis on Dexterity as that helped him craft better when using his spell to create items.

He was going to need that increase in Dexterity for the project he had in mind.

As the day passed, the sun lowering itself from the sky to the horizon and turning the once bluish sky into an orange hue, Aidan prepared the store for closing before heading into the forging area where he often went to make his creations.

Inside here contained all the materials Nina had brought over to him, ranging from metals to plants and even to monster materials she picked up that could be fused into the items he could create.

When he was experimenting, he found out that he could create potions once he knew the process on how to turn the material into liquid, which would then mix well by absorbing the properties of the ingredients that would be harmful to the drinker and taking them out using his Sense Vibrations.

Though the quality of the potion was still nothing compared to an actual alchemist or brewer, it was once again deemed as a nice stop-gap for the people here who don’t have a lot of money for an actual potion, which can sometimes go for over a dozen silvers for just one bottle. In this case, they were just glad to have a potion that can restore at least 10 health points for cheaper than a potion that can restore 50 health points for a whopping half a gold.

The potions were made using the monster materials that Nina brought in, so they were also piled up on the side of the room, but he ignored that section for now as he focused more on the metals section of the room.

He sat down on the table, bringing up his Craft spell into life and forming the bluish orb in front of himself. He brought over several piles worth of metals made up of names that could only be called made up in his old world. Each of the metals wasn’t just made up of simple metals, but have their own affinity in different mana types depending on the environment they came from.

It was obvious that the different mana affinity metals were more valuable as they were constantly used for enchanting equipment, and are often saved for the more powerful tools in the higher echelons of society, far away from where he lived.

He didn't plan on using those just yet, but having them lying around gave him some peace of mind knowing that he had several options to choose from. He picked up one piece of ingot, just rolling it around in his hand and feeling out the tough exterior and heavy weight.

There was only one thing on his mind throughout the days, and it was the connection between his body and his mind. Every time his soul left his body, he always wondered how his mind and body remained connected despite his soul clearly leaving the physical realm.

He knew that it was the harmony at work there, but he still had no idea how this special affinity worked in this world. He learned how the differing elements worked, at least according to the books he read so far about the subject.

He grew interested in this because of one thing; if he could separate his mind and body through one way, could he separate a part of his mind and place it into his creations?

Harmony touches into the unexplainable and unknown, forcing Aidan to think outside the box when using his magic. If he could use his own soul to learn about the world outside while in the comfort of his own home, he could just as easily create a new way of fighting without leaving the city.

He planned on creating a tool, a weapon, that allowed him to impart a piece of his soul into it to control from a distance. He wasn't quite sure how to do that, which is why he planned on experimenting tonight to get it right after days of theory crafting and perfecting his thinking patterns.

He put the metal ingot into the blue orb, feeling the item break apart into thousands of pieces before getting assimilated into whatever future form he desired. He also put in a small chunk of shimmering crystal known as magicite, a rather expensive gem that contained small amounts of mana that would normally be used for enchanting equipment, but he figured he could use that little link of mana to make his connection.

When he put the gem in, it was destroyed along with the ingot, creating a tiny storm within the orb, both physical and magical properties mixing together which his high Perception was able to see.

This was where he truly started using a different method. Rather than the usual mixing that went according to an image in his mind, he first dug into himself for anything he could use. He never tried using more than one spell or skill at once, so this time, he tried to use Soul Meditation with Craft still active.

Doing that made his head split in pain, like a wedge trying to dig deep into his skull. It made his eyes water, and he almost fell over in his chair from the attempt. Getting back up, he felt the migraine coming up, but his health pool didn't show any damage done.

Was it the backlash of using two different actions at once? It was certainly painful, but he definitely felt his skill working for a smidge while Craft was still active. If he could slowly focus on it, he could actually do two things at once.

He kept focusing on it, ensuring to keep both spell and skill active. The pain resumed, this time becoming more focused at the center of his head the farther he kept pushing the two powers to work in tandem.

For a little while, there was a certain numbness that took over his head, then he saw his vision shift as his spiritual self slowly pulled itself out of his physical body. It felt unstable, and one wrong move could completely tear apart the equilibrium he was conducting.

Using all of his willpower, he put his finger into the orb of magic. He felt his finger burn despite his physical hands being nowhere close to the Craft orb. However he kept pushing his finger in, eventually having enough of the simultaneous pain on different sides, forcing his mind to return to his physical body.

This time there was a change to his health pool, decreasing about five points from the action. He breathed frantically, but he could sense that there was a third ingredient within the orb, now dispersed into tiny fragments mixing with the metal and gem within.

For a short while he stayed there, trying to let his pools regenerate naturally without using Soul Meditation, as he didn’t want to go back to using both spell and skill at once again. Taking in a deep breath, he formed the image in his mind for the orb to take hold, his Craft spell now in full force.

The ingredients collided against each other in his mind’s eye, the third ephemeral ingredient becoming hazy and blurry in his consciousness. He felt as if it could be dispersed on its own without ever coming back, so he kept that third ingredient, the spiritual part he left within, closely tied at the center where both the metal and gem became entwined together according to the image in his mind.

The orb glowed as it finished, and disappeared to reveal a shortsword floating in the air. Aidan caught it before it could fall, marveling at the shape of it himself as he definitely felt a deeper connection to this weapon far more than his usual crafts. It was as if a part of himself was added in, and he could actually sense that part from his Sense Vibrations.

The shortsword reached around two feet long, about as wide as his arm, with a diamond-shaped tip at the top. The hilt had that same coloring as the gem he used for the creation, with the center part of the guard having that same gem encrusted in. It shimmered beautifully under the available light when he shifted the sword slightly. He kept staring at the thing, then scanned the weapon in question for the stats.

Harmonious Shortsword (Rare)

A shortsword created through the talent of one special crafter that used outside means to craft the item. It contains a spiritual part of the owner, having a form of its own will within the blade. It can only be used by Aidan Munez, the original creator of the blade.

Requirements:

Only Aidan Munez can wield this sword.

He could tell in an instant that this was an enchanted sword, and even more so, he felt the sword was almost alive in a way.

“This is so weird…”

He had made plans on making a sword that could work on its own, but to actually make it was another thing entirely. It was also surreal to feel a part of himself in something else, like spotting a small mirror that showed himself through the reflection, but at the same time, it showed a completely different visage.

He stood up from his chair, only realizing a little too late that his legs were wobbly and hard to control thanks to his latest stunt. He caught himself on the table, nearly tumbling over several items due to it.

“Whoa… my head hurts like a bitch…”

He pulled up the notifications that he gained from his little experiment, showing what transpired throughout the process.

You have created ‘Harmonious Shortsword’.

You have gained a large amount of experience points.

You have gained a new skill!

Multicast (Copper)

Allows you to simultaneously cast different spells, skills, or abilities under your command. The power of each is reduced significantly while casting with each other, but the mana cost for each one is reduced just as well.

…..

You have gained a new spell!

Infuse (Copper)

Allows you to impart a piece of your mana signature into anything you touch, increasing the available power or quality of anything by a fair margin. The more you infuse your mana into anything, the more powerful the recipient of your mana would become.

Mana Cost: 35

Seeing the new skill and spell he gained, he looked back at his newly created sword and put it down onto the table.

Taking in the moment to collect himself, he put his hand over the sword and left it hovering there, his eyes closed as he sensed the connection between himself and the sword in front of him.

He saw a small line that connected between the two, and when he put his effort into that said line, he felt something tug at his soul. The sword that was just lying on the wooden table suddenly jolted, as if struggling in place before it lifted itself up from the table all by itself. It remained floating in the air, still shaking and wobbling, but it remained aloft according to his will.

“Hell yeah!” Aidan cheered, moving his hand left and right which made the sword also do the same.

He stepped a few paces back, and noticed that the sword remained in the air. The further he focused on the sword, the more stable it became in the air as it followed his command to fly up, down, and even do some twirls, the metal gleaming under the light of the room as it flaunted its newfound existence.

“I knew harmony is a pretty big deal, but I didn’t think I could go this far…” Aidan muttered to himself as he made the sword land onto his hand hilt first. The weight was decently heavy but light enough to be used one-handed. “But I still need to experiment a bit more before I can actually use it in combat.”

Throughout the rest of the night, Aidan had some fun with his Harmonious Shortsword, even creating some dummies with his Craft to use for his sword as he attacked from a distance. The sword’s edge was sharp enough to cut through the made-up dummies easily, thus making it rather difficult to actually tell whether it can stand up to monsters.

When he got more than comfortable enough, he left the room with the sword still left there, going back to the storefront of the house. He sat back down, closed his eyes, and tried to see the line of connection he still had with his shortsword.

While he couldn’t see the sword, he could still feel the tug of the spiritual line between himself and something else far beyond his vision. When he entered Soul Meditation, he didn’t turn into his spiritual self. Instead, his vision came back to the sword in the other room.

It was a weird experience, as though he was seeing through the eyes of the sword despite not having any. It was also difficult to move at first, but when he used the familiarity of commanding the sword with his will, the sword followed suit, floating up into the air and becoming another part of himself.

Just like that, his experiment worked. Now he could command his sword to do whatever he wanted while he remained in the store’s building. Now, it was time for a test run of this beauty and see exactly how it worked in this new world of his.
