It turned out that doing partial phasing was a lot more taxing than he would’ve expected. At the same time, he was glad to do so as that got him another upgrade.

Spell Upgraded! Phase (Bronze) became Phase (Iron)!

He could already imagine all sorts of maneuvers he could use with the added power-up of partial-phasing. Unfortunately it didn’t work well with his aching head while the other party members gathered around him celebrating their victory.

He felt a little bit out of it, but thankfully Nina decided to stay by his side as she knelt down before him.

“You’ve gotten a lot stronger,” Nina said, looking straight down at him with those piercing amber eyes. “Nice work.”

“Thanks…” Aidan moaned, getting himself up. He held his head to keep the throbbing down to a minimum, slowly turning easier to deal with as time passed.

While he was recovering, the party was going nuts over their achievements. It was possible that they didn’t just get a lot of levels, but perhaps titles as well from fighting such a strong foe. The titles alone would be pretty damn impressive, with them granting them full attribute points rather than just stat points according to what he received so far.

More than that, Haley and Nicky went over to the mangled corpse of the hell hound, studying and taking apart each and every valuable piece they could find for themselves. Unlike your ordinary flesh and blood beast, this was made entirely mechanical, so each part could be used and sold for a big price on the market. What’s more, it was all Merunian-made, which according to Madam Welsh, was considered pretty damn pricey just for its branding.

It was then that he heard something click far away from them. Aidan looked over to see what looked like a set of lines resembling doors appearing on the other side of the hall. He poked Nina’s shoulder then pointed at the direction, immediately making her notice.

“An entrance to the next floor?” She asked, and it seemed like she didn’t know what could come from it next despite her high level. It meant that she got her levels from somewhere else rather than being here in the dungeon.

“Let’s check it out,” Aidan said.

He got himself up and went over to the new set of doors, getting everyone to line up behind him. Once they got there, he put his hand over the lines, finding no knob or handle to use to open it.

Then in a short realization, he sent mana through it, and the energy was soon absorbed into the metallic door. The lines that made up the shape started to glow, and the door opened by itself by sliding into the walls. The way in was revealed, so Aidan took a little peek inside.

His eyes glittered from all the strange metallic objects and knick-knacks that littered the room. It looked like some storage container, yet it also seemed to be a hallway that connected to another set of doors at the end. He scanned the surrounding room, finding some pretty interesting items that were also Merunian made, though the scans dictated that they were nothing more than simple items meant for either decoration or perhaps having some sort of cultural importance.

Either way, Nina found herself stashing as many as she could into her pack along with Nicky, who Aidan believed made some sort of deal just with their eyes alone. What took Aidan’s attention however weren’t the valuable items laying around, but what lay on the floor in front of him.

There was a circle that had strange markings written beside the lines, reminding him of the magical arrays he found around the Raining Treasures. He stepped onto the circle, perhaps a touch too curious, and soon the circle lit up in a bluish color that glowed faintly beneath. A notification suddenly dropped onto him, giving him an explanation.

You have activated the teleportation circle connecting the fifth floor to the entrance of the Crystalfang Dungeon. From now on, you may be able to directly transport yourself and anyone you wish to travel with directly back and forth between the two floors using this circle.

“You’re fucking kidding me,” Aidan chuckled loudly, turning to his party. “It’s a teleporter! We can come back here and back anytime we want!”

Hearing that, the others quickly grew excited as it, according to what was said, should allow them to teleport back to the entrance of the dungeon without having to travel all the way back.

Not only would that save them plenty of travel time, but also save what was left of their supplies after such a long venture through the first time.

Once the entire room was swiped clean thanks to the greedy women around them, the party stepped onto the magic circle and, after making sure, using Sense Vibrations, that nothing would go wrong, activated the circle.

He was a bit nervous about it, and quickly realized why he should be as he felt his surroundings completely disappear when the light of the circle flashed. His senses grew out of whack, but his Sense Vibrations picked up on all sorts of incredible energy sources that vibrated intensely, their frequencies hitting back and forth, almost knocking him around through the space they traveled through.

Soon enough, his physical senses returned to normal, and he found himself back at the very entrance he recognized so many times whenever they would enter the dungeon. They were really back, though at a small distance away from the actual entrance doorway.

“W-Wow, it really worked!” Haley commented, her eyes lighting up in excitement. Her brother, on the other hand, didn’t look as keen as he started to look almost pale from the travel.

“It would’ve really sucked if the teleporter didn’t work and we suddenly had misplaced body parts or something,” Bill said, which only made the others look back at him with thinning brows. “What? I’m just saying it would suck!”

“No need to say that out loud, dumbass,” Nicky scoffed. “Let’s get the hell out of here and get some fresh air already!”

The fresh air entering his lungs and the bright burning sunlight hitting his skin were the signs he needed to know that he was alive. It was joyous and undeniably a good cause for a celebration on that alone.

Suddenly he felt grimy and gross after diving through the dungeon for so long, but he knew that he had come out of it stronger than ever before. The others also felt the same, with Haley and Van stretching their arms wide and the Wise Guys all commenting and talking to one another in delight.

Considering how they met up before, they didn’t look all that upset anymore as eventually Nina and Nicky further discussed their own dealings and trading with all the treasure they found so far. Thankfully Aidan didn’t have to give up his handy bangle he still wore, considering that it was part of the reason why he went to the dungeon in the first place. As for the rest of the treasures, they would go back to the city and figure things out from there.

On their way back, Aidan looked up his status to see what points he should spend next. He received four levels, so he decided to put all the points into the necessary stats.

With all the points he had, he could actually push one of the still lagging attributes, Strength or Vitality, close enough to hit 50 to gain another title upgrade. And seeing how he still wasn’t able to use Infuse to effectively increase the amount of health points, he decided to push more points into that instead.

For the free stat points, he decided to push more into both Lifeforce and Charisma, as the topic about the Charisma stat from earlier still bothered him. Though he knew raising Vigor was important and wasn’t going to somehow damage his appearance, he still wanted to at least keep both Lifeforce and Charisma equalized to keep up with Vigor.

It wasn’t like he was suddenly interested in being handsome, but he was more afraid of ending up like the old woman case Haley mentioned.

Though hearing Bill’s insinuation that keeping up Charisma actually balances out his body’s structure was making him curious enough to actually start reading if it was true. Either way, he was starting to see the pattern that despite how one makes their stat build, it was always important to keep things in balance.

He got bored when they kept walking back to the city, so he got everyone to comment on his looks to pass the time. Suddenly increasing his Charisma definitely got them to notice, making them call out that he really rounded out. That, unfortunately, got him to get embarrassed enough to call off the entire thing, though Haley was quick to take advantage of it and kept teasing him about it.

He instead changed the topic to how strong the siblings have gotten. Thanks to their hard work, they were closing in on reaching level 30, something that they never expected to occur considering that they barely did anything in the dungeon. According to them, this would only get easier for them to do their own work in the city, and with Van especially on keeping up with the guild’s requests.

Of course, Nicky was trying to convince Nina to allow them to borrow Haley’s power anytime they would go out on an adventure or a quest, something that easily made Van nervous. But Nina shot them down immediately. It was made clear that Haley would be in charge of handling the Raining Treasures as she would probably keep Aidan around for longer to deal with some minor business.

He didn’t like the idea of what she was planning on doing next, but he was more than glad to have Haley stick around. Despite that, Nicky didn’t seem distraught at all, instead just wishing to visit Haley from time to time if she could. Van immediately looked nervous, but Aidan gave him a look that said that it would be fine.

Thanks to them hanging around so much in the dungeon, Aidan had a good grasp on their souls. While Nicky was definitely the sort to take as much advantage and opportunities as she could, her need to visit Haley was born out of wanting to be friends with her. Perhaps it might have something to do with making her a friend to take advantage of her talent, but her genuine feeling of wanting to be friends was actually there, so Aidan didn’t mind much at all.

Eventually they all returned to Forontia, several levels higher and hundreds of gold richer than before they left. It became an annoying venture when they had to pass through several security checks, eventually receiving the news to the guards that the party had conquered the fifth floor of the dungeon thanks to receiving the Guarding Killer title.

It became a chore to go through, but eventually the guards finally let them through and they all got back to their own separate paths. The Wise Guys went back to the guild to report their own work and findings while Nina went off on her own as usual. That led Aidan with the siblings to return back to the Raining Treasures, finally taking a well-deserved hot bath and food after many days of diving.

Aidan slept well that night, putting aside the worry about the incoming threat to the back of his mind. He did what he could, and nobody else could ask more of him. At least for today.

Three days had passed since then. Aidan took the time to unwind and relax for once. Even while the threat was still ongoing, having to constantly worry about its arrival when he had no clue on when it would arrive would only be a detriment to him, so he instead focused on keeping the Raining Treasure business active.

He still experimented a few times with his spells, but he wasn’t really making any headway into them as the days passed him by. Instead, he enjoyed the little free time he had with the siblings by going out and visiting some of the restaurants and stores around their vicinity.

While all of that was happening, Haley was making serious bank on selling her potions through the Raining Business thanks to her increase in stats and long list of materials she had on hand. For Van, he did quick work of any requests he landed for himself from the guild thanks to his increased level, only bringing in more financial stability for themselves.

Nina was still gone during this time, but Nicky would come visit a few times after the first day when she gave them the rewards for trading in not just the treasures they found, but also the mountain of materials they processed from the monsters of the dungeon. Needless to say, they didn’t have to worry about any financial worries anytime soon.

All in all, it was a pleasant few days, with not only Nicky visiting, but also Bill and Ander coming by and offering some combat tips for both Aidan and Van. As for the store itself, it was going smoothly especially after Aidan returned to manage the crafting portion that his customers seriously needed.

“Here you go,” Aidan said with a cheery tone, handing a set of iron tools to the elderly man. His robust arms took hold of the wooden box containing the tools, nodding appreciatively at them.

“Ah, thanks much for these, lad,” the man said, showing a satisfied smile. “It was hard work finding anyone to get these specific tools needed for work. I’m glad you decided to grace us with your presence once more, young man.”

“Haha, sorry about that,” Aidan chuckled, feeling a bit remorseful. “Things took a turn and I needed to take care of a few things.”

“Few things like gaining some levels?” The man said, raising a brow. Aidan instantly pursed his lips at that, not really answering. The old man let out a guffaw afterwards. “Hah, don’t worry. What kind of man wouldn’t want to improve themselves? Just make sure you be careful. You may have gotten pretty high in levels, but that doesn’t mean you should stay complacent. There will always be those stronger and faster than you. Smarter too. So you gotta be on your toes if you plan on going down that path.”

Though it may have sounded like unnecessary words to some, Aidan knew exactly what the old man was trying to say. Especially since the old man wasn’t exactly talking out of his ass.

Warrior, Level 32.

He was probably the highest leveled ordinary person he spotted in his store. His soul didn’t give off anything suspicious, just your average old man living his life. But seeing his level was proof that he did indeed go down that path himself.

“I will, sir,” Aidan answered politely. “Thank you for the advice.”

“Bah, just take it easy. You have all the time in the world. Just remember that leveling is a marathon, not a race.”

The old man said with a hearty chuckle before waving at him and Haley who happened to pass by before leaving the store. Despite him trying to appease Aidan somehow, considering the situation, he didn’t know how to respond to that.

What could he say to that poor guy when a threat that could destroy the entire city could come at any time, without warning?

“You know, lots of people are coming by these days. They really like the crafts you make,” Haley said, bringing Aidan out of his thoughts. “Some even asked how you make the items you craft too. Kinda hard to answer that you just pull them out your ass.”

“Hey, watch your language,” Aidan rolled his eyes. “A young woman shouldn’t be speaking so callously like that.”

Haley scoffed. “Please. I’ve seen and heard worse.”

Aidan shrugged as he noticed another customer coming in, this time asking for a few potions. Haley got to work on that and got some potions around, offering several to the customer as Aidan went back to focus on his own task.

That’s when he noticed someone showing up by the door, proving to be none other than Nina herself.

“Hey, you’re back,” Aidan called out, putting the box he was carrying down on a nearby table before greeting his patron. “What’s up?”

“You know when I said that I’ll be asking you to do something before?” Nina asked without much preamble. Aidan quickly remembered what she said and nodded. She then smiled. “I’ll be bringing you with me to gather some extra people for our little event. I’m going to need your special powers for this.”
