"Looking forward to your reply."
"Draco Malfoy"
Edward looked at the words on the letter, his brows slightly furrowed.
He had no interest in playing; at this moment, his heart was full of the secrets of his bloodline and the mysteries left by his father. He only wanted to stay in the library to continue his research, not wanting to be disturbed by outside matters.
He picked up his quill, preparing to write, "Sorry, I cannot go," but as soon as the nib touched the parchment, he was stopped by Kreacher.
"Young Master, Kreacher has something to say, though I do not know if I should say it." Kreacher bowed, his head lowered, his voice carrying a hint of cautious persuasion, "You have been in the library for almost a month, studying those boring books every day, and you rarely even go out into the courtyard. You are still a child, not a machine. You need to relax and breathe fresh air. If you keep going like this, your health will collapse."
He paused, raised his head, his cloudy eyes full of concern and a hint of pleading, "If Young Master Regulus were still here, he certainly would not want to see you torturing yourself like this. Young Master Malfoy's invitation is a good opportunity. Going to Egypt for a trip might help you relax, and perhaps... perhaps you might even find the clues you are looking for there? Ancient Egyptian magic is also very old; it might be related to the ancient elemental magic you are studying."
Kreacher's words were like a pebble, sending ripples across the lake of Edward's heart.
He looked at his bloodshot eyes, at the ink stains and calluses on his fingertips, and thought of the research that had made no progress during this time. The persistence in his heart gradually loosened a little.
Perhaps Kreacher was right; he indeed needed to relax. Keeping his nerves tense all the time was actually counterproductive to finding the truth.
Moreover, ancient Egyptian magic could indeed be related to the ancient elemental magic he was researching; he might really find some clues.
Edward put down the quill, was silent for a moment, and slowly nodded. His voice carried a hint of exhaustion, but also a touch of relief: "Fine, I agree to go."
Hearing this, Kreacher's eyes lit up instantly, and he quickly said, "That's great, Young Master! Kreacher will go pack your luggage right away, and then write back to tell Young Master Malfoy!"
"Wait." Edward stopped him, a faint smile curling the corner of his mouth, "Help me prepare a gift. Draco likes to collect various precious wand wood samples. Go to my father's study, find that Unicorn horn wood wand blank, wrap it up well, and let that be my thank-you gift to him."
"Very well, Young Master, Kreacher will attend to it immediately!" Kreacher replied respectfully, turned, and walked quickly out of the library, his steps much lighter than usual.
Edward picked up Draco's letter again, looking at the familiar handwriting. The exhaustion in his eyes gradually dissipated, replaced by a faint sense of anticipation.

He did not know if this trip to Egypt would bring new gains, or if he would find clues related to his own bloodline, but he knew that staying cooped up in the library would not provide any answers.
Under the candlelight, he picked up the quill and wrote the reply on the parchment. The handwriting was neat and powerful, carrying a rare sense of relaxation:
"Dear Draco:"
"Thank you for your invitation. I am happy to go to Egypt with you. I will arrive at Malfoy Manor on time in three days."
"Looking forward to meeting you."
"Edward Black"
After finishing the letter, he folded it, put it into an envelope, and handed it to Kreacher.
Subsequently, he stood up, walked to the window of the library, and pushed it open. The cool breeze, carrying the fresh scent of plants from the courtyard, surged in, dispelling the stuffiness in the room and the restlessness in his heart.
He looked up into the distance. The setting sun was slowly descending, dyeing the sky a gorgeous golden-red, like a blazing fire, bearing a striking resemblance to the flames in his palm.
A faint wisp of fire rose quietly from Edward's fingertips, dancing gently in the wind.
In three days, he would head to Malfoy Manor and travel to Egypt with Draco's family.
He did not know what this journey would bring, but he knew that no matter how many mysteries lay ahead, he would pursue them step by step with persistence and courage, until he found the answers to all his questions.
the Black family house was always covered by an impenetrable mist in the early morning. Rose branches in the courtyard were adorned with fine dewdrops. When the wind blew, they rustled and rolled off, shattering on the bluestone slabs like scattered stars.
Edward stood before the carved full-length mirror, his fingertips gently brushing over the collar of his Black tailcoat. This outfit had been dug out from the family's dusty trunks by Kreacher; it was said to be Regulus's formal wear from his youth. The cut was impeccable, without a single wrinkle, with sharp shoulders and a tapered waist that perfectly outlined the youth's slender yet upright figure. A silver-grey cashmere scarf was draped loosely over his shoulders, adding a touch of warmth to his originally pale complexion. His long hair was tied back with an obsidian headband, revealing a well-defined jawline and a pair of deep, profound eyes.
The youth in the mirror had shed the exhaustion and confusion from the library. Between his brows, he carried the unique nobility and aloofness of the House of Black, yet due to that melancholic temperament, he added a sharpness that belied his age.
Edward looked at himself in the mirror, a complex emotion sweeping through his heart. He had never cared about his appearance before. Back in the Muggle world, he always wore the most ordinary hoodies and jeans; even after arriving at Hogwarts, he just wore his Slytherin robes properly. But today, when Kreacher brought this formal wear, he hadn't refused.
Perhaps it was because this was the first time he would attend a pure-blood family invitation as a Black. Or perhaps, subconsciously, he also wanted to make himself look less out of place.
"Young Master, the gifts are all prepared." Kreacher walked in, bowing, cradling a rosewood tray carefully. The tray was covered with dark red velvet and held three exquisitely packaged gift boxes, the ribbons tied meticulously, exuding a sense of refined ritual.
Edward withdrew his gaze and looked down at the tray.
"Young Master Draco's is a Unicorn horn wand core," Kreacher said in his shrill voice, introducing them like he was counting his treasures, his withered fingers gently tapping the first gift box. "The old master brought this back from the wand wood forest in Romania years ago. The texture is hard, the grain is fine, and it is most suitable for crafting offensive wands. Young Master Draco is obsessed with wand collecting, he will definitely like it."
"Madam Narcissa's is a moonstone hairpin," Kreacher pointed to the second gift box, his tone carrying a sense of certainty. "When the Madam was young, she loved moonstone the most, saying the soft light it emitted was just like the moonlight by the Hogwarts lake. This hairpin is inlaid with goblin silver; it was a birthday gift from the old master to the Madam back then. The Madam has been mentioning it for years."
