Chapter 37- Escaping Danger

Chapter 37: Chapter 37- Escaping Danger

A calculating light flashed in Hong Mei’s eyes as she stared at the two across from her.

“Since you’re unwilling to become my pet Spirit Beast, then why don’t you join our Sect?”

“Heh. Us joining your Sect is even more impossible.”

An Mo scoffed at Hong Mei’s proposal; however, Hong Mei suddenly shook her head and clarified.

“My offer only extends to you. As for that person in your arms, she stole the treasures from our disciples so I can’t let her off.”

Upon hearing Hong Mei clearly calling out her gender, even though Xai Lin already expected it, she was still somewhat annoyed.

‘It must have been that good-for-nothing Sikong yapping his lips off.’

Xai Lin cursed internally.

Sikong must have told these people about them. It was a blunder on her part; she should have made him add that he would never reveal information about them. However, judging by the fact that this Hong Mei had only just found out that An Mo was a genuine Divine Beast, it seems he hadn’t revealed this piece of information, or rather he couldn’t.

If one were to get into the specifics, they had made him swear never to harbor the intentions of revenge. Knowingly revealing their secrets to his Sect, who had hostility towards them, could be considered intentionally harming them, so at most he could do was unbiasly recount his experiences.

Xai Lin also figured revealing their appearances counted as intentionally harming them as well. Thankfully, she hadn’t revealed her surname back in the Demonic Realm or foolishly used her true appearance in front of these people after coming out.

Besides not wanting to draw attention to herself from those protagonists, she also didn’t want to implicate her Sect. After all, for an Immortal Sect, if they truly wanted to find someone, no matter how many Continents separated them, as long as they belong to the same realm, and they spent some effort, they would be able to find her using her surname and portrait.

Meanwhile, Xai Lin was in her thoughts, An Mo’s gaze grew several degrees more colder as he stared at Hong Mei.

“Even if I die, I won’t let you hurt Xai-xai.”

Upon hearing this, Hong Mei smile inscrutably. Actually, she wasn’t sure if that ordinary-looking boy was the same person who had stolen everyone’s treasure, her brother-in-law had already coughed up blood after just revealing their names and a few inconsequential information. However, during his explanation, he had strangely referred to the thief as a male once, and then a female twice.

Third Elder Song might have been too anxious to return to the Sect to treat her brother-in-law and his own injuries, so he might not have noticed, but she, who was eavesdropping nearby, had keenly picked up on it.

Just now, she had deliberately referred to that boy as a female, and as she suspected, they didn’t refute her. Meaning, this girl called Xai Lin had the ability to change her appearance, an ability that could even fool her Soul Emergence Realm’s perception and her keen senses heighten by her Extreme Ice Dao Body.

However, none of that matter now. She had confirmed this was indeed the thief. As long as she captured her, she was one step closer to obtaining Su Jin.

Hong Mei could barely contain her excitement.

“It seems your relationship with this thief is quite close, which is unfortunate.”

Hong Mei shook her head in fake pity before reaching up to grip the handle of her sword that was strapped to her waist.

Slowly, a sharp aura began emanating from her slender body and spreading out into the surroundings.

Upon feeling this sword energy, Xai Lin’s expression became serious. Even though she had told An Mo that they would be fine even if several early-stage Soul Emergence Realm cultivators like that Elder surrounded them, Hong Mei was a special existence despite only being at the early-stage as well.

Not to mention her Sword Intent, which multiplied her strength several times over to the point where she could fight across realms and challenge someone at the peak of the Soul Emergence Realm, just her keen perception granted by her Dao Body would make escaping her pursuit extremely difficult!

An Mo could also guess that the presence of this person had disrupted Xai Lin’s plans, so his expression was equally serious, with his entire body tense and on high alert.

Upon seeing their vigilance, Hong Mei suddenly released a chuckled before saying playfully.

“How about this... I’ll give you two a head start. You can even use that teleportation ability of yours twice before I start chasing you. If you manage to escape, then I’ll consider it my loss. But if I catch you...”

Hong Mei’s words trailed off at the end, while she swept her gaze over An Mo’s body with an ambiguous expression on her small, beautiful face.

Xai Lin gritted her teeth upon seeing her gaze. If she hadn’t known this Hong Mei was currently infatuated with a little brat and was merely trying to get them to leave this area, she would have suspected that she was eyeing her boyfriend.

‘But regardless of her reason, what was that look for? Didn’t she know people get their eyes gouge out for less?’

An Mo similarly felt the same. He couldn’t help but shudder and retreat a few meters backward under her gaze. However, at that moment, his expression subtly shifted and an excited light erupted from his eyes.

“Hahahaha!!”

An Mo suddenly let out an uproarious laughter, meanwhile all the tension that had just accumulated immediately vanished without a trace.

Hong Mei was a bit taken aback by An Mo’s sudden loud laughter, however, at the same time, an ominous premonition began to surface in her heart.

“Did you find him?”

Xai Lin softly asked when she heard An Mo laughing.

“Ha-ha, yeah, I did.”

An Mo nodded, and with a relaxed demeanor, he shot a disdainful look at Hong Mei before vanishing, leaving behind a cluster of black feathers.

Upon seeing An Mo using his teleportation ability, Hong Mei’s heart skipped a beat, and that ominous premonition became even more prominent.

Suddenly she sensed faint spatial fluctuations from where she had just floated up from within the forest. Thinking of something, her expression immediately turned ashen.

“No!!”

With a cry of alarm, Hong Mei shot towards the forest below. As she approached, she slashed out with her sword. A terrifying blue sword light, filled with Sword Intent, leapt from her sword and expanded to covered several hundred meters.

The top of the trees that were in the Sword Intent’s path were sliced clean off.

As the severed trees fell and produced continuous loud crashing sounds, the ground below was revealed. There, An Mo was holding Xai Lin’s hand while gripping the disheveled looking Su Jin by the collar.

Hong Mei’s figure appeared in the air above them, her face so cold it could freeze a thousand-year-old volcano.

Seeing that Su Jin was unharmed and only had faint golden runes shimmering on his skin, she breathed a sigh of relief, before glaring murderously at An Mo’s hand gripping his collar.

An Mo, however, merely smiled at her contemptuously.

“What did you just say; that you’ll give us a two-teleportation head start? Heh. How about just one?”

After saying that, An Mo’s black wings unfurled and expanded to covered the three of them.

Upon seeing this, Hong Mei wanted to act, but An Mo roughly tugged at Su Jin’s collar and forced him to stand in front of them.

Immediately, all thoughts of attacking were instantly swept away from Hong Mei’s heart, and she could only grip the sword in her hand tightly as she watched those black wings slowly cover the three figures.

“Su Jin, don’t worry, I’ll definitely rescue you!”

Hong Mei shouted towards Su Jin just as his figure was obscured by An Mo’s wings. Unfortunately, this resulted in her being unable to see the panic expression that was on Su Jin’s face, disappearing to be replaced by a relieved expression. He even patted his chest twice before casting a grateful look towards the strange Spirit Beast, who was tightly gripping his collar. This was his savior who had snatched him away from the jaws of danger! Su Jin was so excited he felt like crying.

An Mo clearly saw Su Jin’s grateful look despite the darkness surrounding them, and though he was slightly puzzled in his heart, he had to focus on getting out of here first.

Soon, black fog appeared around the three of them, and after a few seconds passed, they disappeared, leaving behind a spatial tear in the void that released chaotic spatial fluctuations.

Hong Mei trembled when she saw this scene, as she realized she couldn’t determine where they had teleported to; the range was too far. She even suspected that they were no longer on the continent.

Hong Mei could only grit her teeth before turning around and leaving behind the disciples below to fly toward the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect to inform Third Elder Su and the Su Clan that Su Jin was captured.

Right now, she could already see her chances of marrying Su Jin slowly slipping away, which angered her to no end.
