Priam’s memory instantly flashed back to when he had visited that Pristine Wild-Spirit tribe and found the goddess’s mark inside the temple. When he absorbed it, he had heard that exact same female voice he was hearing now.

’She just called someone her Master? Who the hell could be the master of an existence on the same level as a Sovereign?’

Priam was deeply shocked by the thought. However, the ancient voice continued echoing in his mind.

’In the distant past, shortly after ascending to the throne as one of this world’s Sovereigns, my memories finally awakened. That was when I finally discovered the truth. Just like you, I came from another world. I was secretly sent here to stop the abominable deeds of those bastards.’

Priam took a deep breath.

Just like the first time, this was an ancient recording. However, the message had been left with an absolute and almost unsettling certainty that *he* would be the one listening to it.

’I can’t explain all the details to you right now, because you must still be far too weak. But first of all... I must apologize to you. In the end, I was discovered. Those monsters managed to understand the divine method my Master used to send us to this world. Because of my failure, your journey here has been incomparably more dangerous and painful than mine.’

Priam let out a breath through his nose. Apparently, whoever had sent him to this hell hadn’t anticipated that the goddess would be captured so soon. In the end, the root of all the suffering he had endured in this world had originated from the goddess’s downfall.

’As for this world... Its core possesses a unique peculiarity, something that the Sovereign, who is a Primordial Chaos Beast, considers vital. He was the one who unleashed the entire war of destruction against this place. I couldn’t allow him to obtain the core, so I joined forces with this world’s local Will of Heaven to delay his plans for as long as possible.’

’In secret, I buried a seed in this region containing a fragment of my soul and the essence of my core energy. I did this as a desperate measure, in case I was discovered. In the end, the worst really did happen. Thus, this entire abyss ended up emerging from that seed.’

’The seed and everything else were created as an emergency measure for myself. Even now, it still contains an immense amount of my core energy—you can consider it an advance payment, if you prove yourself worthy. As for the fragment of my soul, it is sealed inside... Please, take it with you.’

’If you ever find my reincarnation in this world, give this fragment to her. My memories won’t return immediately, but a fraction of my true power will surface the instant you do.’

’I guarantee you: no matter what happens to me or where I am, even without remembering who I once was, my essence will never fail to repay those who reached out a hand to me. If you help me now, I will become your greatest ally in the future.’

Priam held his breath in silence.

The seed contained an astronomical amount of a Sovereign’s core energy?

Had she really been reincarnated in this world?

Those were extraordinary pieces of news. In the future, if he managed to find the goddess’s reincarnation and give her the fragment, he would gain a terrifyingly powerful ally almost instantly.

’Finally, let’s get to what really matters: I’m going to send you to the automated test I prepared at the bottom of this abyss.’

’When I first reincarnated into this world, I had no memories, but I possessed a System designed by my Master, made to push my abilities to their limits. Through it, I created the *Supernal Beastmaster Art* and, with it, broke through all mortal shackles until I became a Sovereign.’

’There were no legitimate Beastmasters in this world. I was the first of them all. Then, I realized that I alone was truly capable of using the Art I created in its pure form. So, I created inferior variations and taught them to my disciples. Because of this, the aura of my soul fragment possesses a fatal and irresistible attraction to any compatible beast.’

’Throughout the ages, every beast that fell into this abyss and approached my seed was completely subdued, becoming an eternal slave. I don’t know how many are still alive down there, but there are certainly quite a few.’

’Your test is terribly simple: eliminate every single one of them.’

’Show no mercy. I wasn’t exactly a kind and peaceful person, so beasts compatible with me are certainly the worst possible kind. Don’t think those enslaved beasts can become your allies. They’re all driven by desires for power and blood, and well... that really suits me.’

’When the last beast falls, my seed will automatically recognize you as worthy and fly to you.’

’Of course, as an outsider from another world, you’ll be detected the moment you step into their domain. They will all attack you simultaneously, in a wave of blind fury. It won’t be easy. But... you also carry a System like the one I had, don’t you?’

The goddess’s voice took on a teasing tone.

’The Master is supreme. The Master never makes mistakes. Therefore, if you were chosen to walk this path, you should be capable of overcoming any calamity, right?’

’That’s all I have to say. If you have the courage to try, take a step forward. If you’re a coward, just turn around and run.’

Silence once again took over the surroundings.

Priam let out a dry, muffled laugh.

Just by listening to that voice recording, it was easy to tell how peculiar that Goddess had been in life. The recording had started with a tone of cold disbelief, shifted into an almost desperate plea, and ended with a shameless provocation, openly manipulating his pride to force him forward.

She had even admitted to herself that she was, at the very least, someone of questionable character.

On top of that, the irrational and almost fanatical devotion she had toward this mysterious "Master" bordered on absurdity. Maybe that person was something like a demon tamer who had managed to keep this Goddess in line without causing any trouble.

’What happened? Why are you standing there?’ the shield’s voice sounded confused.

’Nothing. I just remembered something,’ he replied indifferently, confirming that only he could hear it.

Priam glanced over his shoulder.

The bizarre trembling that had shaken Dandara moments ago had completely stopped; she had returned to resting peacefully, her breathing soft and steady.

Priam decided not to move forward immediately. Everything indicated that the subdued Miasma was the only danger on the surface, while all the beasts mentioned by the voice were confined to the depths of the abyss.

Since he had neutralized the Miasma, that edge was temporarily safe.

If he had time on his side, it was better to make the most of it to stabilize Dandara and ensure she was in the best possible condition before they plunged into danger.

...

A few hours later, she woke up.

Although her body was still weak and poisoned, with Mirra’s help and the medication, she was already showing good signs of recovery: a subtle, healthy rosy tone had returned to her cheeks.

"Here, drink some water first," Priam murmured softly.

Adjusting her with extreme care so as not to put pressure on her wounds, he lifted Dandara’s upper body and supported her against his own chest, giving her a firm backrest. With one arm supporting her fragile shoulders, he brought the container to her lips, allowing her to take small, slow sips.

Priam had never imagined that the day would come when he’d be holding a woman in his arms, helping her drink water like a baby.

For Dandara, however, that protective embrace and constant warmth offered an immense refuge — a feeling of security so deep that it made all the horror of the past few days disappear.

Unable to use her own Ether to sustain herself, she needed to eat the traditional way. However, her weakened throat and stomach could only handle soft, bland foods.

Luckily, Priam kept a huge stock of supplies to feed little Mirra. He wanted her to grow naturally and healthily. So, he had a wide variety of ingredients and seasonings.

Priam wasn’t a great cook, but he knew how to manage just fine. He prepared a bowl of nutritious, warm, well-seasoned porridge. Spoonful by spoonful, he calmly fed Dandara, making sure she ate without rushing.

After the meal, he waited until she closed her eyes and fell asleep before renewing the application of the medicinal ointment. Doing that while she was awake would have been an unnecessary embarrassment for both of them.

However, the moment he began gently spreading the medicine over her completely exposed skin... Priam felt a subtle shiver run through Dandara’s body.

Her breathing, though still steady, faltered for a fraction of a second.

’She’s not pretending to be asleep, is she?’ Priam wondered, surprised.

’Why would she do something like that? I’m just applying the medicine in a strictly professional manner, without the slightest ulterior motive... She can’t be thinking anything weird, can she?’

Priam snorted inwardly. This woman couldn’t possibly have such a dirty mind... or so he hoped.

He kept his hand steady, applying the medicine everywhere until the process was complete. But he really had to pretend not to notice the faint blush slowly creeping up her neck.

As soon as he finished the dressings, he wrapped her up in the bandages and thick cloak again. Priam carefully adjusted her on his back and stood up.

It was time.

With that, he took his first firm step toward the depths of the abyss.

*Buzz*

The space around him trembled and violently rippled.

Priam’s vision went completely dark. Moments later, the darkness was torn apart by a sudden flash — it was as if he had passed through a portal, arriving in an entirely different world.
