Su Zhaozhao hadn’t expected Li Tiantian to come looking for her.
She opened the door, and Li Tiantian immediately rushed over to hug her.
"Thank goodness, I finally found you! My mom didn’t even tell me your exact address. I had to ask, house by house."
Su Zhaozhao was suddenly a little impressed. ’What a social butterfly!’
"I’m sorry, I should have told you before," Su Zhaozhao said apologetically to Li Tiantian.
In truth, she hadn’t known back then that she would be moving in so suddenly.
"It’s okay, it’s okay." Li Tiantian’s gaze swept around the room, and she couldn’t help but sigh. "Zhaozhao, you’ve kept this house so well, haven’t you? It smells amazing."
"This was all Huai Zheng’s doing," Su Zhaozhao said. She had only done a bit of tidying and cleaning, and sprayed some perfume.
In her dimensional space, she had all sorts of high-end perfumes. They didn’t cost anything, so she could spray them as she pleased.
If this were the real world, even Su Zhaozhao couldn’t help but feel she was being far too extravagant.
When Li Tiantian heard that it was Xie Huaizheng who had cleaned up, the smile on her face immediately vanished.
’Well, if it was Xie Huaizheng, huh? Then there’s nothing for me to praise here.’
"Are you free right now? Let me take you out to have some fun," Li Tiantian said.
"Where to?" Su Zhaozhao asked, curious.
"To the area near my little brother’s school. He’s a senior this year, studying at the high school in town. There are tons of snack shops near his school, and the food is delicious. How about we go there for lunch? Or would you rather stay home?"
Li Tiantian had long been plotting to whisk Su Zhaozhao away.
The last time at her house, when she first met Su Zhaozhao, Li Tiantian felt like her whole world had lit up.
She wished she could be stuck to Su Zhaozhao’s side every second of the day.
Who doesn’t love a girl who’s sweet-smelling, soft, and pretty?!
It was just a pity that Xie Huaizheng was as wary of her as he would be of a wolf, which kept her from getting too close.
That was why she had specifically chosen a time when Xie Huaizheng was at the military camp to come running over.
Su Zhaozhao was also eager to go out. After Li Tiantian’s suggestion, she said, "Okay, let me write a note for Huai Zheng, and then we can go!"
Su Zhaozhao quickly finished writing, placed the note on the table, and then left with Li Tiantian.
Li Tiantian had come by bicycle, which was parked downstairs. She said to Su Zhaozhao, "I’ll give you a ride. Hop on!"
Su Zhaozhao recalled that the last person’s bicycle she’d ridden on the back of was Lin Shumo.
Now it was someone new.
"Be careful, Zhaozhao," Li Tiantian said. "But don’t worry, my biking skills have always been excellent."
After she finished speaking, Li Tiantian started pedaling, and they set off with Su Zhaozhao on the back.
The town she mentioned was the same one Su Zhaozhao sometimes visited, and it was also where Liu Guiyan and her family had their shop.
But Su Zhaozhao had never been to the high school area.
Soon, Li Tiantian brought them to a stop.
Su Zhaozhao looked at the school in front of them. It was now 11:20 AM, and the students hadn’t been dismissed yet.
There weren’t many people at the school gate.
And just as Li Tiantian had said, there were many shops here, most of them selling snacks.
They were probably there to make it convenient for students to grab a bite on the roadside during lunch or after school.
The prices weren’t expensive either—in fact, they were half the price of what she’d paid at other shops.
"Here, what do you want to eat?" Li Tiantian asked, turning to Su Zhaozhao. "Pick anything you want."
Su Zhaozhao looked around and saw the usual noodle dishes, as well as some fried foods.
"This flatbread is especially good. Have a taste," Li Tiantian said, handing a piece to Su Zhaozhao.
Su Zhaozhao took a bite. It was crispy, and the inside was filled with sweet potato. So fragrant!
"Good, right?" Li Tiantian asked, beaming at Su Zhaozhao.
Su Zhaozhao nodded.
They went on to try several other kinds of snacks.
"But, if you want to talk about the best of the best, there’s a beef noodle soup place in that alley. Oh my god, the braised beef... once you try it, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven!"
Li Tiantian immediately pulled Su Zhaozhao into the nearby alley.
There were very few people here. Only after walking a bit further did they see a shop.
As soon as Li Tiantian walked in, the owner saw her and immediately smiled. "Home for summer break?"
"That’s right! Boss, two bowls of beef noodle soup for us, and add fifty cents’ worth of extra meat!"
After speaking, Li Tiantian pulled Su Zhaozhao to a seat. She even wiped the table and chair clean, as if worried they might dirty Su Zhaozhao’s clothes.
"When I used to study around here, I always ate noodles here. The owner and his wife both know me."
"Then it must be really good." ’Otherwise, Li Tiantian wouldn’t have come every day.’
Li Tiantian nodded. "Every time I come back for a break, I have to eat here a few times!"
Soon, the owner brought over the beef noodle soup.
Su Zhaozhao had already eaten quite a few snacks, but now, looking at the bowl of beef noodle soup in front of her, she saw a broth that seemed to have been simmered from beef bones—light, yet with a floating, creamy aroma.
The noodles soaked in the soup, saturated with the broth. On top lay a generous layer of sliced beef, sprinkled with scallions. It was incredibly tempting.
Su Zhaozhao took a sip of the soup, and the flavor made her squint her eyes in satisfaction.
’I can’t believe such a tiny little shop could make noodle soup that tastes this amazing.’
"Good, right?" Li Tiantian said, watching Su Zhaozhao’s satisfied expression with a triumphant curl of her lips. "I bring all my friends here to eat."
"It’s delicious. I have a feeling I’ll be coming back," Su Zhaozhao said honestly.
"Right?" Li Tiantian generously picked a few pieces of meat from her own bowl and gave them to Su Zhaozhao. "You’re too skinny. Doesn’t Xie Huaizheng usually feed you? Just look at you..."
"No, no, I’m on a diet," Su Zhaozhao said. She actually felt she had gained quite a bit of weight recently.
"A diet? Are you crazy? You’re so thin!"
"Am I? I’ve gained a lot of weight."
She had been eating so well recently that she had visibly gained weight, which was why she needed to control it a bit.
Su Zhaozhao knew that in this era, people pursued a slightly plump aesthetic, a bit chubbier than the beauty standards of her own time.
You could tell just by looking at the actresses, who all had rosy complexions and looked full of vitality.
And in her era?
She didn’t like the "pale, thin, and youthful" kind of distorted thinness they pursued, either.
So, she wanted to find a balance, and it would be perfect if she could build a little muscle.
Li Tiantian looked at Su Zhaozhao’s beautiful face, completely bewildered. "You’re already so gorgeous, prettier than any of the girls in the song and dance troupe. You’d look good no matter what you did, yet you’re still so strict with yourself!"
Saying this, Li Tiantian was practically heartbroken over it.
Su Zhaozhao just smiled.
Just then, a few people who looked like students passed by the front of the shop.
’School’s out.’
Su Zhaozhao slurped her noodles, her gaze drifting toward them.
Li Tiantian saw one of the boys and froze. "Isn’t that Wei Chuan?"
Su Zhaozhao looked at Li Tiantian, who immediately said, "My younger brother, Li Weichuan!"
"I wanted to introduce you two! Oh my, I can’t believe we actually ran into him here. But what’s he doing here in the middle of the day...?"
But the next moment, they saw the boy walking next to Li Weichuan forcefully shove him.
Li Weichuan stumbled a couple of steps, and the other boy said with a smirk, "Where’s the money? Did you bring enough? Go buy me two packs of cigarettes."
