With a loud thud, the door slammed shut.
Cole watched as Alana was taken away by Stephan, disappearing from his sight, and his eyes instantly welled up with tears.
The pain in his heart was a hundred times more intense than the physical pain. Hah, he had lost after all...
And in such a humiliating way...
********
Stephan led Alana into the room and pinned her down on the bed, holding her tightly.
Feeling the pressure radiating from the man, Alana felt a pang of guilt.
She spoke up, “Stephan, let me explain.”
Stephan pinched her cheek between his thumb and forefinger, leaving a dent in her skin, causing her rosy lips to pout.
“Explain what? Explain why I’ve been waiting for you here like a stone statue, while you’ve been out there getting all cozy with another man?”
Alana immediately shook her head. “No. I waited until my colleague fell asleep, then came out to find you right away. But I didn’t expect to run into Cole...he stopped me.”
Stephan snorted with a laugh. “And then? You just let him hold your hand without putting up a fight? And when I tried to beat him to death, you even stepped in to stop me.”
Alana shook her head. “It wasn’t like that.”
Stephan asked, “Then what happened?”
“I...” Alana hesitated, wanting to explain but not knowing how. “Anyway, there’s nothing going on between me and Cole. I just didn’t want you to become a murderer.”
Stephan laughed bitterly. “Alana, are you trying to drive me crazy with that explanation?”
Alana was at a loss. “Then how do you want me to explain it? There’s nothing between us to begin with...even if I tried to explain, it wouldn’t make any sense!”
Stephan clenched his teeth and, without hesitation, silenced her tongue-tied lips with a kiss.
These lips were so soft, so tender, and so alluring...yet why can’t they utter a single decent word?
Just a bunch of nonsense.
Alana nearly suffocated from the man’s kiss.
Stephan bit her lip. “Alana, I really want to kiss you to death!”
Alana caught her breath and looked at him with a shrug. “Then go ahead and kiss me to death! As long as it makes you feel better.”
Stephan gripped her chin. “Rather than kissing you to death, I’d much rather fuck you to death!”
Alana was stunned beyond words.
Stephan chuckled darkly, his large hands landing on her body as he tore off her dress without hesitation.
“Tonight, don’t even think I’m going to let you off the hook. Even if you beg for mercy, I won’t show you any mercy!” With that, he yanked open a drawer, pulled out a dozen or so packets of condoms in one go, and tossed them onto the bed.
Seeing this, Alana’s eyes widened in shock.
Thinking of the man’s strength and stamina, she instinctively took a step back.
But it was already too late.
That night was wild.
The room was thick with a sensual atmosphere, and the sound of their heavy breathing never ceased.
The entire night passed without a moment’s pause.
Alana’s back was about to snap.
An angry man was simply brutal beyond belief.
Her voice was laced with tears, sounding broken and pitiful.
“Stephan, I was wrong. Please, spare me...”
He bit her ear, deliberately tormenting her. “Where did you go wrong?”
Alana was dazed and barely conscious.
“I...I don’t know. I just know I was wrong...”
Stephan was once again driven to laughter by her, “Lana, I can tell you’re just stringing me along!”
He picked her up and pinned her against the wall.
His long fingers gripped her chin, lifting her flushed cheeks to face him. His thin lips parted slightly. “Cole stays in Room 2010. I’m in 2009. The two rooms are separated by just a single wall.”
“Guess what...with all the noise we’re making in here, do you think he might hear us?”
Alana’s back pressed against the cold wall, and she shuddered.
Her senses began to return.
Upon hearing the man’s utterly malicious words, her eyes widened in shock.
“Stephan, you...”
Stephan curled the corners of his lips. “What about me? Am I a bad person? A jerk? A pervert?”
Alana blinked.
Stephan’s voice was low and hoarse. “Now, this pervert is going to tease you mercilessly!”
Alana’s breath caught. “No, Stephan, don’t go too far!”
“I’ll go too far...and I’ll go even further!”
Stephan pressed his lips against hers without hesitation.
Alana hadn’t expected him to be this wild; her eyes reddened involuntarily, and tears welled up.
Stephan kept kissing her, moving from her lips to the tip of her nose, then down to the space between her eyebrows, her forehead, and the corners of her eyes...
He tasted the bitter flavor of her tears and paused.
He slowly lifted his head and saw Alana’s reddened eyes, brimming with tears, and her pitiable, heartbroken expression.
His heart clenched painfully.
No matter how angry he was, seeing Alana looking so pitiful and wronged, that anger should have vanished without a trace.
Stephan cupped Alana’s face, pressed his forehead against hers, and breathed deeply.
He gazed into her tear-filled eyes, his heart heavy with regret.
“Alana, I’m sorry...I admit it...I was jealous. I saw you and Cole getting all touchy-feely, and it drove me crazy with jealousy!”
“On the surface, I pretended not to care about your relationship with Cole, and I tried to convince myself not to care. But whenever I see you with him, I just can’t help it...I get mad. I get so consumed by jealousy...”
Alana’s eyelashes fluttered. “But you said before that you didn’t mind...”
Stephan said softly, “That was a lie. There’s no way I wouldn’t care. The more I care about you, the more it bothers me.”
Alana bit her lip. “But I really don’t have any connection with him at all. I don’t feel anything for him.”
“You two have known each other for so long. I feel cheated. I should have known you longer.”
Alana sighed. “It doesn’t matter. We weren’t even in the same class back then...he just helped me a few times.”
Stephan fixed her with his dark eyes and asked, “What did he do to help you?”
Alana thought back to what had happened and found it hard to bring up. “I... was being bullied, and he stepped in to help me.”
Stephan’s breath caught in his throat.
He never would have imagined it was for this reason.
Had she actually been bullied?
Although he had never experienced bullying himself, he knew how deeply it could scar a person.
Especially for a girl who wasn’t even an adult at the time.
Stephan felt a pang of regret, realizing he might have touched a raw nerve.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought that up.”
She shook her head. “It’s okay. It’s all in the past anyway. Besides, you’d never guess that the person who bullied me was Cole’s own sister.”
Stephan frowned. “His sister?”
Alana nodded. “Yes, you’ve met her before, the woman who was showing off in front of me when you brought me the brown sugar ginger tea last time I forgot to pick it up.”
Stephan’s eyes darkened. “So it was her.”
“I really regret not beating her right then and there.”
“Yes, the two of us should have beaten her to a pulp.”
Alana couldn’t help but chuckle.
Stephan asked quietly, “Sweetheart, tell me...how did she bully you?”
He was going to help her get back at that woman, tenfold, no, a hundredfold.
Alana thought for a moment, then shook her head. “Never mind. I really don’t want to bring up those old bullying incidents again.”
They weren’t exactly pleasant memories, and she didn’t want to relive them.
Stephan gently rubbed her delicate cheeks with concern. “Alright, then I won’t bring it up.”
But that didn’t mean he was going to let it go.
Alana wrapped her arms around his neck, gazed at his handsome face, and said earnestly,
“So, can we just let this go?”
