--Chapter 11--

Title>> Left with Only One!

The Grand Appraisal Hall went from rowdy to dead silent after Takeshi’s bold declaration.

"I would like to enter the Tower of Approval as well."

"And now..." he concluded.

There was a mix of reactions to Takeshi’s statement. Some believed he was just bluffing.

His boldness was just mediocre bravado to look impressive.

While others saw his point. He had A-rank monsters at his disposal, so he was definitely going to be sure of himself.

But Isabella...

She was a different story altogether.

The princess looked like she had been slapped across the face.

Her face burned red with fury that Takeshi did not, and could not, hope to understand.

She pointed her needle-like finger at him.

"You? You dare? You’re still just an E-rank failure hiding behind monsters! How dare you demand to enter the Tower today?!"

She paused as if the next set of words she wanted to say had been caught in her mouth.

"How dare you...?"

While Isabella ranted like a bitch in heat,

Valeria, on the other hand, was completely unmoved. Her expression was ice-cold and difficult to read.

But Takeshi could still see the calculation in her eyes.

After all, the doctrine she had preached for years had now placed her in this situation.

And now a sanctum that was supposed to be the garbage truck had become the recycle bin that brought back a nightmare.

She sighed deeply, her narrowed eyes finally focusing on Takeshi.

She was aware that she couldn’t deny him this attempt without contradicting herself in front of the noble houses, House Grimwald and House Otto.

But before Valeria could speak, Erling Vega stepped forward.

With his arms crossed over his chest, his voice dripped with mockery that hid jealousy like a needle hidden in a haystack.

"This is ridiculous," he began.

"The Tower is for real heroes, not some pathetic Summoner who relies on demons and vampires."

Takeshi’s eyes squinted.

’This fucker...’ he screamed inwardly.

However, before he could openly retort and rebuke the lightning mage,

the deep, noble voice of Duke Harlan Grimwald boomed from the side.

"I agree. Allowing three A-rank monsters into the Tower is far too dangerous. And it defeats the purpose of the trial."

The surrounding wankers began nodding in agreement. Their voices slowly escaped the shock Takeshi had earlier placed them.

Slowly, it seemed the decision was beginning to shape for the worse for Takeshi.

Because if he understood what Duke Galan was trying to say, it meant that he should enter the Tower of Approval on his own.

And there was absolutely no way...

that was happening...

Taking a stance, Takeshi raised his body, his voice was clear, calm, and filled the room with relative ease.

"As you all know, I am a Summoner. And entering the Tower without my summons defeats the purpose of my class."

He raised his hand in a placating manner. "How do you want me to show myself approved before the goddess by refusing to use the very gifts she had blessed me with?"

Pausing for half a second, he allowed the words to settle before turning away from the crowd and toward Valeria.

"If you truly believe in the goddess’s will as I do, then let me prove myself with them."

Even before Takeshi could continue with even more pressure,

Countess Elowen Otto’s graceful voice cut through the noise from the gallery.

"He speaks logic."

Her words drew an audible hiss from the throne above her seat.

As Isabella glared down at her.

But Elowen could care less about what a little insecure girl thought.

"It doesn’t take a prophet to tell you that a Summoner without his summons is meaningless."

She raised her hands, flaunting her obviously expensive emerald bracelets.

"If the goddess granted him these servants, then denying him would be questioning her judgment. Wouldn’t it?"

The entire hall lost decorum in that second. Murmurs began flying around as the political pressure shifted.

’Ohhh, Countess...’ Takeshi thought. ’You are officially my hero.’

High Priestess Valeria looked up at the crowd. She looked at Elowen and then back at Takeshi.

Her eyes were cold but definitely conflicted. Right now... she was cornered, and she knew it.

After a moment of waving for silence and letting a shred of decorum return to the hall,

"Very well," she said finally, her voice tight and somewhat warm even though her eyes were like ice.

"You may enter the Tower later today. However, you may only bring one of your three summons with you. The others must remain in the manor under guard."

"No..." Nyxara cut in with hellish authority even before Takeshi could utter a word.

Lana chuckled at the brute, running her perfect fingers through her wavy crimson hair.

Valeria frowned at Nyxara, obviously disgusted that a Demoness would think she had a say over anything in Eldratch.

"You will only speak when spoken to."

Growl!

Nyxara’s eyes began to transform as her skin glistened with heat, causing curls of steam to emerge from it.

The surrounding air began to shift, and the temperature increased with pure malevolence by the second.

Those who drew their blades felt the hilts slowly begin to burn.

Everyone present began to feel the slow but definite rise in temperature... and the potential for mass heatstrokes.

But before things could get out of hand, Takeshi raised his hand.

First, it was an open palm.

And then it was a fist.

"Stand down!"

He spoke with the most authoritative tone he could muster.

And almost like reality heard his call, the temperature returned to normal instantly.

Nyxara backed off slowly, standing down.

Takeshi’s eyes lazily moved to Valeria, who was still staring at him coldly.

He nodded, hiding his satisfaction.

"Whatever you wish, High Priestess."

***

Minutes after the incident in the Appraisal Hall, the walk back to the secluded manor was thick with tension.

The women walked beside Takeshi, but each of them was plotting a way to convince him to choose her.

The moment the heavy doors of the manor closed behind them, the silence lasted only a heartbeat.

Then all three women turned toward him at once.

This time, Solaria was first. She immediately moved closer to Takeshi.

Her voice was soft but determined.

"I can support you with healing and magic, Master. You’ll need that inside the Tower."

Nyxara scoffed at the idea, crossing her arms over her enormous breasts.

With a confident grin on her face, she spoke.

"Your choice is obvious, Master. You’re taking me."

She quickly flexed her biceps and kissed them roughly.

"Muah!"

"I’m the strongest. I’ll crush everything in that Tower for you, Master."

Takeshi shook his head and turned to Lana De Reyes. But the Queen of the Night didn’t seem interested.

"What do you think?" Takeshi asked.

It was only then that Lana smiled elegantly, though her crimson eyes burned with quiet hunger.

"A tower like that would ruin my nails."

She stared at them.

"...But if I am not to stand by your side, then the little demoness would be the best option."

Takeshi nodded. He didn’t necessarily agree with Lana’s attitude, but her logic did make some sense.

Moreover, he had other plans for Lana herself.

After looking at all three women one more time, he felt the weight of the decision settle in his chest.

There was no point hesitating any longer.

"Nyxara," he said firmly. "You’re coming with me."

Nyxara’s grin widened into something feral and triumphant.

"Good choice."

Solaria lowered her head, visible disappointment settling across her face.

"Don’t worry," Takeshi said, looking at the other two. "I have something else for you to handle."

Both women smiled as Takeshi moved closer, briefing them on his plan.

After the brief discussion, Nyxara laughed loudly, still basking in being "the honored one."

She slapped Takeshi on the back.

"Smart choice, Master."

"Now, let’s go show those frauds what real power looks like."
