The crowd turned silent for a moment; just the shock wave of the massive door opening could be heard.
Soon the wind and dust died down, and crowded mumbles took their place.
People’s talk became louder and louder.
"Look, it’s an Elder Wuhan..."
" Elder Wuhan!..."
"We’re done for. I heard he was most strict and easy to get angry."
" I heard he loved destroying the Beastheart students."
"Wait... you already formed your Beastheart!"
" ...
Loid looked up in the air; an old male figure with a white beard, dressed in robes, but his muscular chest was bare, arms crossed in front, expressionlessly looking down at everyone while floating high in one place, so blank as if he were standing on the ground, not in the air.
"Welcome, all participants", He spoke in his heavy voice, which echoed everywhere and turned the whole crowd silent.
"I’m a Wuhan Jedicato. And I’m overseeing your trials to enter Divine Leaf Sect. Everyone had passed three trials to step into this gate. This time, only 1000 would be selected, and those thousand would be those who survived. Your first trial was simple." He turned silent and raised both hands in front and clapped loudly. "SURVIVE."
A shockwave from his clap stumbled everyone’s footing; the sound almost turned Loid deaf. He cursed this fucker in his heart.
The weird lines appeared on the ground and glowed in golden light, turning from dim to bright and brighter, that hurts eyes.
Not wanting to turn blind, Loid again closed his eyes and covered them with his arm.
Oh, fuck! Guess I’m joining...
Loid was thinking earlier about why they had teleported him to this specific place. Do they want him to join this sect, or is it just a random place?
He was going with the first one: they want him to join this sect. But would he just follow along? Well, why not...
Elizabeth said the empress or whatever--she wanted to kill him, but she changed her mind. Now there were two possibilities: she didn’t really change her mind, making him join this sect; she wanted to assassinate him, without letting anyone know.
Or the second one: maybe she just gave him a place to start his new life from her perspective.
But it’s all his stupid guesses; no one can understand what was in another person’s heart. But still, if she wanted to kill him, he didn’t think she needed to plot anything. After all, it was her domain; she was in power here, so she could do anything. He decided not to think about what her motive was because it was pointless.... He just wanted strength or a path to strength; he understood one thing: he hated that feeling when he woke up alone in the prison; he hated that the most.
.
"Pass first trial to know second."
Those were the words Loid heard last. When his crowded surroundings turned silent, and instead of the noises of people, he heard a musical chirping of the birds, the sound of wind, and dancing leaves of the trees.
He immediately opened his eyes.
"A forest", He muttered, turning around in every direction. Trees and green grass were everywhere, as well as beautiful flowers and colorful mushrooms.
Loid also looked at the stone cliff just some meters ahead of him.
He thought about what that guy said.
Survive, huh... here?
But Survive from what? Animals, beasts, monsters, or other humans?.
Wait, was killing allowed here... that old suck didn’t explain the rules. What if I want to quit... how should I do that?
Loid looked at the huge tree with thick branches in front of him.
He said just to survive, isn’t he? Well, I will just hide on this tree.
He walked toward it.
"Thud!" Someone jumped from the tree.
Loid stopped on the spot...
A tall and wide guy, dressed in old robes whose color appeared like mud, straightened his posture and looked up toward him.
"Hey, well, you’re the first one who was going to be illuminated by my hands," the guy said, walking toward him with a frown on his forehead and a weird, wide grin on his lips at the same time.
Shit, luck. Loid stepped back.
"You sure, buddy? Wasn’t it against the rules? Mean fight with each other," Loid asked with a smile, while cursing in his heart why he encountered a dangerous-looking opponent at the start when he didn’t even understand the game. This guy was at least a foot taller than him with a body like he ate steroids for breakfast, then hit the gym all day every day.
Which I know was not true, and that’s the scary part. After all, it’s a fantasy world.
"If the elder Wuhan didn’t explain it, that means there were no rules." The guy said, smashing his fists with each other
"I see. But are you sure you want to fight? We were just getting tired early, attacking each other for no reason, and tell me, was killing here allowed?..."
"Stop talking and die, pretty bastard!’’ He dashed toward him.
Die... means it’s allowed...
Loid ducked, seeing the shadow punch on his face... he felt air created by his heavy fist as it passed above his head; if that had hit him, he was sure that his skull or neck would be broken.
Instead of backing down, Loid took the chance and stepped forward. Strengthening his legs threw an upper cut, targeting the big guy’s chin.
"Thak!’’
"Huh?"
fuck!.’ Loid cursed as the guy caught his fist.
Why didn’t I see the shadow of this?
"You’re fast." The big guy praised him and tightened his grip on his fist.’’But your strength- your strength was pathetic.’’
fuck he going to break it!.
Loid’s foot stumbled; unable to free himself, Loid decided to attack on every man’s weakness, but before that, another shadow punch appeared and hit his guts.
No, no, no..
Loid threw a knee to his balls, but he was slower than the guy.
"THWACK!"
The punch hit Loid in the guts, knocking the air out of him.
