High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 594: Gravity Swamp"That’s why I need more attempts." Xu Wuyi looked toward the Virtual Cabin. "I’d like to start the fourth one now."
Qiao Tongyu frowned. "Can your Spirit handle it? Four consecutive battles at a 99% Simulation Level is a massive drain."
"I can," Xu Wuyi said, flexing his fingers.
"The first three times were more about probing and adapting. The drain on my Spirit was mostly from the intense stress. Now that I have a clear direction, I can actually focus better."
Wu Dingbo glanced at the physiological monitoring data on the screen. Xu Wuyi’s heart rate, brainwaves, and Life Energy Level fluctuations were all relatively stable. The only issue was his spiritual fatigue, which had reached 70% of the warning threshold.
"Two more attempts at most," Wu Dingbo decided. "Any more than five, and the spiritual drain will start affecting your condition in the real world. It won’t be worth the cost."
"Understood."
Xu Wuyi lay back down in the Virtual Cabin.
The hatch closed.
The pure white space unfolded once more.
The Illusion materialized a hundred meters away, clad in the same gray robes, wielding the same Cyan Sword, its eyes just as calm as before.
Xu Wuyi didn’t immediately summon his spear.
He stood his ground, closed his eyes, and let his Spiritual Power spread outward like a tide.
This time, he didn’t try to "capture" the Illusion, but to "feel" the entire space.
The Gravity Field was formless and intangible, but to the perception of his Great Success Heavy Water Heart Image, it was as clear as ripples in water.
He "saw" the vertical lines of gravity descending, the "texture" of the space, and the faint trails of flowing Energy.
Then, he began to "sow his seeds."
With a subtle shift of his will, the "breathing" of the dark-gold great marsh within his sea of consciousness was dismantled into countless tiny, rhythmic units.
Each unit carried a "gravity-altering" instruction.
He quietly planted these units along specific veins within the space.
They weren’t distributed evenly, but concentrated in key areas: the ten-meter radius in front of him, potential flanking routes to his left and right, the escape route behind him...
Each "seed" contained only an exceedingly minute gravitational change.
It might be a 5% increase in Gravity at a single point, a 3-degree deviation in the direction of Gravity along a line, or an adjustment to the frequency of gravitational fluctuations within a small area.
Individually, the effect was weak enough to be negligible.
But when they linked together, forming a net that covered the entire combat zone, they would weave an invisible "Gravity Swamp."
The Illusion moved.
It moved with the same terrifying speed, its figure leaving afterimages in its wake.
Xu Wuyi opened his eyes. He didn’t dodge.
He stood his ground, not even assuming a defensive posture.
The blade lunged.
The instant it entered the ten-meter radius before him, the Illusion’s form experienced a nearly imperceptible stutter.
It wasn’t that its speed had decreased, but that the space had "thickened."
The Gravity Seeds planted in advance had "sprouted" simultaneously the moment they sensed the external Energy Fluctuation.
The 5% increase in Gravity made the air slightly denser; the 3-degree directional shift created turbulence in the airflow; the fluctuating frequency caused a subtle discontinuity in the transmission of Energy...
All these faint effects superimposed, creating a peculiar "delay field."
The Illusion’s sword was slower by one-hundredth of a second.
Xu Wuyi moved.
Instead of blocking the sword, he stepped forward. A spear materialized in his hand, its tip thrusting straight for the Illusion’s sword wrist.
Trading injury for injury.
The Illusion’s wrist twisted slightly. The edge of its sword traced an arc, evading the spear tip as it continued toward Xu Wuyi’s throat.
But just as the blade was about to find its mark, a Gravity Seed "bloomed" on the left side of Xu Wuyi’s neck.
The direction of Gravity at that point suddenly shifted from downward to a 15-degree deflection to the left.
Pulled by an invisible force, the blade’s trajectory shifted by a matter of millimeters.
This millimeter of difference was all it took for the blade to graze past Xu Wuyi’s skin, only slicing through the epidermis.
Meanwhile, Xu Wuyi’s spear had reached the Illusion’s chest.
The Illusion retracted its sword to defend, the flat of the blade precisely striking the side of the spear tip.
CLANG!
Sparks flew.
Xu Wuyi didn’t meet the force head-on. He used the recoil to retreat while his will stirred once more.
Beneath the Illusion’s feet, three Gravity Seeds erupted simultaneously.
Increased Gravity, directional deviation, and frequency interference—the three effects layered together, causing a brief "distortion" of the space in that area.
The Illusion’s figure wavered.
It was only a momentary loss of balance, but in a battle of this caliber, that was more than enough.
Xu Wuyi spun his spear, its shaft sweeping out, imbued with the oppressive weight of his Mental Realm.
"Profound Nether Celestial Spear·Mountain Suppression!"
As he swung the spear, its weight changed five consecutive times.
Light, heavy, light, heavy, heavy.
Each change made the Spear Momentum more erratic and unpredictable.
The Illusion blocked with its sword held horizontally. This time, its arm sank noticeably.
It wasn’t a lack of strength; its ability to exert force was being affected by the gravitational interference.
Spear and sword collided.
The Illusion slid back five steps.
Xu Wuyi didn’t pursue. He stood his ground, his breathing slightly ragged.
That series of maneuvers had been an immense drain on his Heart and Spirit.
He had to maintain the sensory network of the Gravity Seeds, make split-second adjustments, and execute his attack all at once.
But his eyes shone with excitement.
’It’s working.’
’The Gravity Swamp strategy is working.’
’Even though it can only delay my opponent by a few hundredths of a second and only cause trajectory shifts of a few millimeters, in a duel of this caliber, that tiny advantage is the difference between life and death.’
The Illusion steadied itself and looked at Xu Wuyi.
It raised its sword again.
This time, the cyan glow on its blade was brighter than ever before.
Xu Wuyi could feel the surrounding space begin to "solidify."
It wasn’t suppression by Gravity, but a lockdown by a purer form of "Sword Intention."
’The Illusion is getting serious now.’
Xu Wuyi took a deep breath, and the respiration of the dark-gold great marsh in his sea of consciousness suddenly quickened.
At that instant, all the planted Gravity Seeds "activated" simultaneously.
They weren’t acting independently but were linked together, forming a "Gravity Domain" with a thirty-meter radius.
Within the Domain, the direction of Gravity was no longer fixed downward but changed continuously according to Xu Wuyi’s will.
At times it pulled to the left, then pushed to the right; sometimes it lifted upward, other times it pressed down.
Though the magnitude of change at any single point was small, the space as a whole had become a constantly "flowing" Gravity Swamp.
Cracks appeared in the lockdown created by the Illusion’s Sword Intention.
Pure Sword Intention could cleave through matter and slice through Energy, but it struggled to completely suppress a "field" that was so ubiquitous and constantly changing.
Because a "field" has no physical form and no boundaries; it is, in itself, a state of space.
The Illusion moved.
Its figure moved through the Gravity Swamp, still as fast as a phantom, but this time, Xu Wuyi could "see" its trajectory.
He wasn’t seeing with his eyes, but through the feedback from the Gravity Seeds.
The instant each seed was disturbed, it transmitted information back to his sea of consciousness. These countless points of information linked together, forming a clear path of its movement.
