High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 605: Confrontation"Third." Shen Jin smiled, his expression serene.
"If you should fail, I’ll take care of it myself. I’ve lived a long life; what haven’t I seen?"
He spoke lightly, as if discussing what to have for dinner rather than a life-or-death battle.
The hospital room fell silent.
The rhythmic BEEP of the monitoring equipment echoed in the room. On the screen, a fluctuating waveform displayed Shen Jin’s unstable vital signs.
Xu Wuyi looked at the Grandmaster, who, despite his grave injuries, could still speak with such ease. A mix of complicated emotions stirred within him.
There was admiration, gravity, and an indefinable sense of responsibility.
"I’ll do everything I can," he finally said. His voice was quiet, but clear.
Shen Jin turned his head to look at him and nodded.
"Then go," he said. "And remember, come back alive."
When he returned to the circular room, the medical team had already completed all preparations.
The Spiritual Resonance Device was active. Its hatch slid open, revealing a soft gel lining and a dense array of neural sensor contacts within.
Three top-of-the-line Spirit Stabilizer units were positioned around the device. A pale blue Energy Field was already active, creating faint, shimmering ripples in the air.
"Martial Artist Xu, please change into the specialized sensor suit." A member of the medical staff handed him a silver-white jumpsuit.
Xu Wuyi took it and walked into the adjacent changing room.
The suit was made of a special material—light, thin, and flexible. It was practically weightless and clung perfectly to the contours of his body. The interior was interwoven with fine sensor wiring, designed for a seamless interface with the Spiritual Resonance Device.
When he emerged in the suit, Deputy Director Lin and the medical team were performing their final checks.
"Device operating normally. Spiritual link channel is stable."
"Monitoring systems are in position. Real-time feedback on vital signs and spiritual fluctuations."
"Emergency extraction protocol on standby. Response time: zero-point-three seconds."
Wu Dingbo and Qiao Tongyu stood in the observation area, watching from behind the glass. Wu Dingbo’s expression was grim, but Qiao Tongyu nodded at Xu Wuyi and gave him a reassuring gesture.
Feng Zhuohua walked over to Xu Wuyi and handed him a translucent respirator mask.
"This is a high-purity Spiritual Power supplement," Feng Zhuohua explained. "Once you enter the Sea of Consciousness, your spiritual consumption will be immense. This mask will provide a continuous supply to maintain your condition."
Xu Wuyi took the mask and put it on. It sealed itself to his face automatically, and a cool stream of air flowed into his nostrils, carrying the faint, fresh scent of herbs and wood.
"One last confirmation," Deputy Director Lin said, looking at Xu Wuyi.
"The clearing process is estimated to take three minutes. If it exceeds that time, we will decide whether to forcibly terminate the procedure based on your condition. You have the right to request an extraction at any time. Do you understand?"
"Understood," Xu Wuyi said.
"Good." Deputy Director Lin stepped aside. "Please enter the resonance pod."
Xu Wuyi walked toward the silver-white device.
The gel lining on the pod’s inner wall automatically adjusted its shape, conforming to the contours of his body. Countless neural sensor contacts pressed against his skin, causing a faint, tingling itch.
He lay down inside the pod, and his vision was gradually obscured as the hatch closed.
In his last glimpse of the outside, he saw the solemn faces of Wu Dingbo and Qiao Tongyu in the observation area, the medical personnel at their stations, and the waveform on the monitoring screen beginning to pulse faster.
Then, the hatch sealed completely.
Spiritual Resonance Device initiating.
Establishing neural link... 10%... 50%... 100%.
Link channel stable. Commencing injection of guide Energy.
The cold, systemic prompts echoed in his mind.
Xu Wuyi felt a gentle but powerful stream of Energy pour into his body, flowing along the wiring of the sensor suit. It traveled up his meridians, finally converging in the Sea of Consciousness at the center of his brow.
Within his Sea of Consciousness, the "breathing" rhythm of the great, dark-gold marsh was guided by this Energy, gradually synchronizing with the external device. The Golden Crow Illusion hovered at the marsh’s center, its flames receding as it entered a state of gathering power.
Guidance complete. Preparing to access target Sea of Consciousness.
Warning: Entering a Grandmaster Level Spiritual Domain. Estimated rank suppression effect: 47%.
Spirit Stabilizer is ready. To use, activate via mental command.
Xu Wuyi took a deep breath. The stream of supplement from the mask rushed in, keeping his Spirit sharp and clear.
’Let’s begin,’ he thought.
The next second, he felt a powerful pulling sensation.
His consciousness felt as if it had been thrown into a vortex, plummeting downward, passing through layer upon layer of barriers before finally landing in a world of blades and swords.
The moment his consciousness settled, Xu Wuyi "saw" his surroundings.
This was no pure white space from a virtual battle, but a shattered world.
The sky was a dark red, covered in a spiderweb of cracks that oozed with a cyan sword light.
The ground was half scorched earth and half crystalline ice—the scars left behind from the clash between Shen Jin’s Sword Intent and Ye Yixin’s Sword Intention.
The air was saturated with two completely different kinds of Momentum.
One was a heavy, domineering Sword Intent, carrying the absolute resolve to sunder all things. It was like a dormant beast, suppressed deep within the earth, yet still pulsing with stubborn life.
The other was a pure, sharp Sword Intention that felt as if it could pierce through all creation. It occupied the sky and permeated every inch of space, like countless invisible needles constantly stabbing at the Sword Intent deep within the earth.
Xu Wuyi stood on the borderline between the scorched earth and the crystalline ice.
He looked down to find he was not a physical entity, but a body of consciousness condensed from the Power of his Heart Image. The illusion of the great, dark-gold marsh shimmered behind him, the Golden Crow rising and falling within, its flames held in check.
Several hundred feet ahead, a figure slowly coalesced.
It wore gray robes, carried a Cyan Sword, and had the face of someone around thirty years old.
It looked exactly like the Illusion from the virtual battle, but this "Ye Yixin" before him had a lively, intelligent light in its eyes.
It was not the calmness of a programmed simulation, but the gaze that only a true Martial Artist could possess.
"Outsider." The Sword Intention avatar spoke, its voice ringing directly in Xu Wuyi’s consciousness. "The backup Shen Jin found?"
Xu Wuyi didn’t answer. He raised his hand, and as the Power of his Heart Image surged, the Liaoyuan Long Spear materialized in his palm.
The spear’s shaft was dark red, its tip a single point of golden light.
"Interesting." The Sword Intention avatar seemed to chuckle. "Not yet a Grandmaster, and you dare enter a Grandmaster’s Sea of Consciousness to challenge me. Is Shen Jin just clutching at straws, or do you actually have some skill?"
As soon as the words faded, the Sword Intention avatar moved.
It didn’t move with the extreme, time-distorting speed from the virtual battle, but with a more natural, fluid motion. Its figure flickered across the shattered landscape, as elusive as a fish in water, its trajectory impossible to predict.
Xu Wuyi focused completely, spreading his Spiritual Power.
He began to place his Gravity Seeds.
But this time, he ran into trouble.
The Space Rules within the Sea of Consciousness were different from both the real world and the virtual arena.
This was Shen Jin’s spiritual world, and more than half of it had been corroded by the Sword Intention, making its spatial structure extremely unstable. Placing the Gravity Seeds required far more delicate control and consumed much more energy.
The moment the first seed took form, the Sword Intention avatar sensed it.
