He couldn’t block it head-on.
Nor could he withstand it.
Xu Wuyi’s body was instinctively sending out warnings. His Heart Phase Core was trembling violently—a natural reaction when facing the crushing pressure of higher-level Rules.
But he didn’t retreat.
He had nowhere to retreat to.
This was Shen Jin’s sea of consciousness, and the Sword Intention avatar took up most of the space. His only path to survival was to defeat his opponent.
’I have to take a gamble.’
Xu Wuyi closed his eyes.
Within the sea of consciousness, the vast, dark-golden expanse began to "breathe" with an unprecedented rhythm.
It wasn’t a uniform contraction and expansion, but a chaotic, seemingly out-of-control, violent fluctuation. The Golden Crow Illusion circled frantically at the expanse’s core, its Flame sometimes erupting, sometimes receding inward.
He was simulating.
He was simulating every possible sword trajectory, method of force application, and use of Rules the Sword Intention avatar had displayed in their hundreds of battles over the past month.
Not making a Prejudgment on a single outcome, but simulating all of them at once.
Then, he’d find a match in real time.
It was like an overclocked computer: the moment his opponent struck, it would sift through hundreds of possibilities to find the perfect match and present the optimal solution.
This wasn’t something a human could do.
At least, not something a normal person could do.
But Xu Wuyi did it.
Because his Spiritual Power was far greater than others of his rank, and because his Heart Phase Core, after his Heavy Water reached Great Success, had gained certain Traits of "receptiveness" and "endurance."
Even more so, because he had spent over eight hours a day in virtual battles for the past month. That data, those trajectories, those details—they had long been carved into his very instincts.
The Cyan Sword moved.
No trajectory.
No intermediary steps.
When Xu Wuyi opened his eyes again, the cyan streak was already three inches from his brow.
But he had moved as well.
It wasn’t a dodge. Instead, he turned sideways, stepped, twisted his waist, and thrust his shoulder forward. The sequence was completed in an instant, with a precision born of a million rehearsals.
The Cyan Sword grazed past his brow.
The sharp edge of the blade left a shallow white mark on his consciousness form.
But that was all.
Because as he had turned and stepped, his left hand had already risen, fingers curling as if to grasp something.
He wasn’t grasping a spear, but "grasping" the space around the Sword Intention avatar.
He activated the gravity distortion.
This time, it wasn’t a thirty-fold surge. Instead, he instantly reduced the Gravity at that point to zero, then reversed and amplified it fifty-fold, then brought it back to zero, then amplified it forward seventy-fold.
Within a thousandth of a second, the direction of Gravity changed seven consecutive times, its intensity fluctuating like a frenzied heartbeat.
This was not an attack.
It was interference.
Utterly chaotic, patternless interference.
The Sword Intention avatar’s movements stiffened for an instant.
It wasn’t that it was suppressed by Gravity, but that its "calculations" had been disrupted by this illogical interference. Its Martial Arts logic had no way of dealing with such Chaos.
In that very instant.
Xu Wuyi thrust out the long spear in his right hand.
The spear tip had no golden glow, no flame, only the purest "heaviness."
The core Trait of the Heavy Water Heart Image was brought to its ultimate Compression in this one thrust.
As the spear thrust out, its weight changed nine consecutive times. Each change caused a subtle deviation in its speed, force, and trajectory.
The Sword Intention avatar raised its sword horizontally to block.
CLANG!
The spear tip struck the middle of the sword’s blade.
This time, the sword wasn’t knocked away but was pinned down by the "heaviness" transmitted from the spear tip.
It wasn’t physical weight, but a "suppression" on the Heart Image level.
Heavy Water could bear all things, and it could also suppress all things.
The Sword Intention avatar’s body sank slightly.
Xu Wuyi’s left hand made a grasping motion again.
This time, he "grasped" the space three inches behind the Sword Intention avatar’s left knee. That spot was a critical node for the flow of power during the transitions of Ye Yixin’s Sword Dao Body Technique.
He distorted Gravity, increasing it eighty-fold in a single direction: straight down.
CRACK.
A faint cracking sound was heard.
The Sword Intention avatar’s left leg buckled visibly at the knee.
It wasn’t a fracture, but the Sword Intention structure forming the leg had been thrown into chaos by the sudden, crushing Gravity.
Its body lost its balance.
Although it was only for an instant, for Xu Wuyi, it was enough.
He withdrew the long spear and thrust it out again.
This time, a golden Flame lit up on the spear tip.
Undying True Flame.
The spearhead pierced the Sword Intention avatar’s left chest, two inches off from the heart. Xu Wuyi had aimed slightly off-center on purpose, as he wasn’t sure where the "core" of this Sword Intention was located.
The golden Flame surged in along the spear’s shaft, igniting at the wound.
The Sword Intention avatar grunted, swinging its right hand’s Cyan Sword back in an attempt to sever the spear’s shaft.
But Xu Wuyi had already let go.
He retreated rapidly, his left hand making continuous grasping motions.
Gravity distortions erupted simultaneously at seven key nodes around the Sword Intention avatar’s body. Each had a different direction and intensity, forming a completely chaotic Gravity Field.
The Sword Intention avatar’s figure swayed violently in the Gravity Field, like a candle flame in a gale.
It tried to stabilize its form, but the Flame on its left chest burned continuously, constantly consuming the essence of its Sword Intention.
What was more troublesome was that the chaotic gravity distortions were interfering with its control over space, making its movement difficult.
Xu Wuyi stopped five hundred feet away, panting slightly.
The toll on his consciousness form was immense. That last series of maneuvers had drained nearly seventy percent of his Power of Heart Image. The Spiritual Power supplement pouring from his mask was being frantically infused, but the rate of recovery couldn’t keep up with his expenditure.
But a calm light flickered in his eyes.
An opening had appeared.
The Sword Intention avatar’s power hadn’t diminished by much, but its "rhythm" had been broken.
For a practitioner like Ye Yixin, who pursued the ultimate purity in the Sword Dao, "rhythm" was everything. Once that rhythm was broken, the power of their Sword Techniques would be drastically reduced.
Sure enough, when the Sword Intention avatar raised its sword again, the cyan light on the blade was no longer as condensed as before.
It looked at Xu Wuyi, and for the first time, a grave look appeared in its eyes.
"You’re more tenacious than I imagined," it said.
"The feeling’s mutual," Xu Wuyi finally spoke, his voice somewhat hoarse.
"But it’s not enough." The Sword Intention avatar shook its head. "Your gravity distortion can interfere with me, but it can’t kill me. As long as my Sword Intention core remains intact, you can never truly defeat me."
"Then I’ll find your core," Xu Wuyi said.
He charged forward again.
This time, he didn’t use complex gravitational changes, but instead focused all his power on a single point.
The "breathing" of the vast, dark-golden expanse slowed, but each contraction and expansion now carried a heavy, tangible quality. The Golden Crow Illusion sank to the bottom of the expanse, its Flame receding inward until only a pair of sharp eyes remained.
Xu Wuyi’s figure moved quickly across the shattered Earth. With every step, he left a subtle Gravity "imprint" at his footfall.
Not traps, but markers.
He was marking the Sword Intention avatar’s movement trajectory, using the feedback from the Gravity imprints to track his opponent’s every subtle motion in real time.
