High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent
Chapter 162: Greedy Lin QiChapter 162: Chapter 162: Greedy Lin Qi
The Virtual Room at Tianhai No. 1 Middle School
"He’s out! Lin Qi is out!"
Someone shouted, pointing at Virtual Cabin #8.
In an instant, all eyes were on him.
"How long was he in there? With his strength, being at the peak of Cang Province, which assessor do you think he made it to?" someone asked, gulping with curiosity.
"No idea!" The crowd shook their heads. They were on a completely different level; most of them couldn’t even get past Assessor #10. They couldn’t begin to imagine how powerful Lin Qi truly was.
As Lin Qi emerged, he saw that everyone was watching him. Under the crowd’s intense gaze, he remained calm and walked toward the exit.
"Brother Qi, I made it to Assessor #13! What about you?" Jiangtao couldn’t contain his curiosity the moment they stepped out of the assessment room.
Lin Qi said nonchalantly, "I made it to Assessor #14. Exactly."
Jiangtao’s eyes widened as he sucked in a sharp breath. "Brother Qi, you’re a beast!"
...
Two hours later, the Martial Arts assessment officially ended!
"It’s over!!"
"Phew!!"
As the doors to the examination hall swung open, the excited students could no longer contain their joy.
The end of the Martial Arts assessment also marked the official end of the college entrance exams.
More than a decade of hard work had finally come to an end, and a wave of relief washed over everyone.
Lin Qi and Jiangtao left the examination hall together.
Lin Zhen, Fang Huiyi, and Jiang Miaoyin were waiting at the school gate, greeting the two of them with smiles.
"It’s over!"
Lin Qi smiled at his mom and dad.
"Let’s go. The exams are over. It’s time for us to relax a little," Lin Zhen said heartily.
The five of them got into the car and headed back to Rongshan District.
"For the next couple of days, I’m just going to sleep in and do absolutely nothing."
"And I’m going to try all the best food in Celestial Sea City," Jiangtao went on, describing his plans for the good life ahead.
"Brother, take me with you!" Jiang Miaoyin said, raising her hand in anticipation.
"You have final exams in about twenty days. We can talk about it after you’re on break," Jiangtao shot her down without a second thought.
"But the next couple of days should be fine, right?" Jiang Miaoyin persisted.
Lin Qi watched them from the side with a chuckle, feeling very relaxed.
"BUZZ! BUZZ!"
Just then, Lin Qi felt his smartphone, which he had just turned on, start to vibrate.
He took it out and saw he had several messages.
His brow furrowed as he thought to himself, ’Looks like I can’t relax just yet. I’m about to get busy.’
One message was from Dean Liu Jing of the Sixth Institute at Azure Sky Martial Arts Academy. He wanted to meet again to discuss the terms of their offer.
There were also messages from officials at other academies.
With the exams over, it wouldn’t be long until results were released and enrollment began. The universities were getting more and more desperate in their recruitment efforts.
...
「After a good night’s rest」
On the first day after the exams, while others were likely still sleeping, Lin Qi rode his bicycle to the Red Dome Martial Arts Dojo alone at 10:00 AM.
Since the exams had just ended, the main hall was relatively quiet.
"Mr. Lin!" the pretty receptionist greeted him enthusiastically.
"Lin Qi is so dedicated. The exams just ended yesterday, and he’s already here to start his Cultivation!" the receptionist murmured in admiration.
Lin Qi took the elevator to the second floor, which was a dedicated area for business meetings. Many commercial contracts, talent signings, and conferences of all sizes were conducted there.
He followed the room numbers to Room 206.
He rang the doorbell. A few seconds later, the door opened to reveal a striking figure: it was Lu Wei, curvaceous and with a hint of baby fat on her cheeks.
"Lin Qi, you’re here!"
"Please, come in!"
It was a spacious, 50-square-meter meeting room. It featured a luxurious black sofa, a wide, thick glass coffee table, and several green potted plants. The faint aroma of tea hung in the air.
On the sofa, Dean Liu Jing, a man with large earlobes, was calmly brewing tea. His aura was completely retracted, but Lin Qi could still sense the danger concealed within him.
"Have a seat, Lin Qi," Dean Liu said with a smile.
Lin Qi sat down on the plush black sofa across from him.
A cup of hot tea was placed in front of him.
"Lin Qi, you really kept us waiting," Lu Wei said from the side, a hint of playful grievance in her tone.
Lin Qi felt a bit awkward. He had left them hanging for over a month.
"My apologies."
"It’s alright. We knew you weren’t satisfied with our initial offer, so we’ve come with a new one."
Lin Qi’s heart skipped a beat. ’So they really did raise the offer,’ he thought.
Just then, Dean Liu began to speak slowly. His eyes were bright, seeming to hold an invisible power.
"The other conditions remain the same as before."
"But we’ve added two new terms." He held up two fingers.
Lin Qi’s heart jumped. He had a feeling these two terms would be extremely important to him.
"Lin Qi, I’ve obtained your file from the assessment committee."
"I’m aware that your mother was poisoned by a Dark-winged Bat when she was young, and that the poison was only fully cleansed after the Spring Festival this year."
"However, due to the long-term corrosion, her organ functions have been severely degraded. Her body’s absorption capacity is very poor, and restoring her Martial Arts Cultivation would be immensely difficult and costly."
"I wonder, have you ever heard of the Washing Potion?"
"Washing Potion?" Lin Qi repeated, confused.
Lu Wei, who was sitting beside him, began to explain.
"The Washing Potion can cleanse the body of impurities while simultaneously repairing organs. It’s effective at restoring organs regardless of the cause of their decline, be it damage or deterioration."
"In your mother’s case, her organs have degenerated due to the poison’s corrosive effects."
"She can make a full recovery by using a Washing Potion."
"The only catch is that it’s incredibly expensive, costing five million Xia Country Coins."
Lin Qi’s eyes lit up. ’This is exactly what I need,’ he thought.
He had already planned on buying a potion to treat her after the exams.
"And there’s the second term," Dean Liu continued.
"Your father lost his left arm, and I’m sure you want to help him get it back."
"The most well-known method for regenerating a lost limb is the Water of Rebirth."
Lin Qi nodded. That was exactly what he had been thinking.
"As an S-class Talent, you now qualify to purchase the Water of Rebirth. But I can guarantee that even if you save up enough money, you won’t be able to buy it," Dean Liu said with a confident smile.
Lin Qi frowned but said nothing, waiting for the dean to explain.
Dean Liu began his explanation. "The Water of Rebirth is an incredibly precious Potion."
"Not only can it regenerate lost limbs, but it also possesses powerful healing properties."
"For example, if your parents were to use a single vial, they would be healed instantly and could rapidly recover their Martial Arts strength."
"It’s also a vital tool for High Realm Martial Artists. As a powerful Healing Potion, it can rapidly restore stamina and heal injuries."
"During a battle with a powerful Calamity Beast, it allows for the rapid recovery of spent energy."
"Every batch of Water of Rebirth that’s produced is immediately snapped up by High Realm Martial Artists."
"Only a tiny fraction ever makes it to the open market."
"So, you can get it for me?" Lin Qi asked.
Dean Liu nodded slowly. "I can promise you that once you’ve saved up enough money, I will help you procure a vial of the Water of Rebirth."
Lin Qi lowered his head, silent. He took a sip of his hot tea.
After a moment, he spoke slowly.
"Let me consider it. I’ll give you an answer before the exam results are released."
A slow smile spread across Dean Liu’s face.
"Of course. We’ll be staying in Celestial Sea City for the next few days, so feel free to contact me anytime."
...
「A short while later, Lin Qi departed」
Only Lu Wei and Dean Liu remained in the room.
"Dean, do you think he’ll accept? I heard the Second Institute is also trying to recruit Lin Qi."
Dean Liu smiled confidently. "My offer doesn’t have to be the absolute best. It just needs to be better than what the other institutes and universities can provide."
"And I’m certain my terms are the best he’s going to get."
"No one else knows just how terrifying Lin Qi’s Talent truly is."
