High School DxD: Fox of Ill Omen

Chapter 155– Request From A Maou

Yuki

It had been a few days since we returned from the Underworld.

After we arrived at the station and the shock of Diodora Astaroth proposing to Asia went away, things returned back to normal.

With the exception of Asia’s new persistent admirer.

After Diodora proposed to Asia she was obviously shocked at the rudeness of it.

She quickly turned him down.

Issei had looked down on him with smug satisfaction.

Diodora had seemed disheartened by her refusal, but said that he would not give up in his pursuit of her.

Asia stammered and tried to tell him that she wouldn't change her mind, but he wouldn’t give up so easily.

He then left after saying goodbye to Rias and sending one last glance towards Asia before he went.

Issei had glared at him as he walked away and Asia had looked lost as to what had just happened.

It certainly was something for the heir of a major noble house to take attention in a reincarnated Devil like that.

And Asia was the type of person who wouldn’t like the attention that it would bring to her.

After that, we made it to Issei’s home without further incident.

Since then, Diodora had begun to send Asia gifts and letters to the Hyoudou home.

Everything from flowers to sweets to jewelry.

Asia was flustered and didn't know what to do with all of the gifts.

Rias had helped and collected the jewelry to send back, hoping it would show Asia’s lack of interest.

The flowers and sweets sent would go bad, so they weren’t returned.

The flowers were given to Issei’s mother and placed around the home decoratively.

I had asked Asia if it would bother her seeing all of the flowers meant for her around the house, but she had said that if they were given to Issei’s mother to decorate with, then she didn’t really mind.

She also gave out the sweets that she had received to the rest of the peerage.

Koneko and Gasper-kun in particular received a lot of them.

And right now, we were spending time in the club room after one of the first days of school back from our summer break.

Issei, Asia, Xenovia, Gasper-kun, Yuuto and Koneko were all playing a trading card game as I sat next to Koneko and read a book.

They had asked me to join them, but as it would cause there to be an uneven number of players I decided to sit out.

It was a convenient excuse to keep from having to learn how to play another game.

I knew I would end up playing with them eventually, but for now I had an excuse not to play for now.

That meant I could relax quietly as they had their fun.

Their games progressed and eventually Rias and Akeno walked into the clubroom.

“Good you're all here,” Rias said as she saw us. “There is an emergency request that I need all of you to handle. Especially Ise and Yuki.”

“What is it, Buchou?” Ise asked.

I set down my book as Rias began to answer.

“I have received a request from a Maou personally. Specifically Serafall Leviathan-sama.”

I sat up straighter at the mention of one of the Maou requesting something of Rias.

Each of the Maou were eccentric and had their quirks, but they were still the rulers of the Underworld and the most powerful Devils.

If one requested something of Rias, she couldn't really refuse.

“Really? We received a request from Leviathan-sama? That’s amazing Buchou!” Issei shouted excitedly.

He wasn’t wrong that it could be something good for the peerage.

Most Devils would find it an honor to work for one of the Maou.

I was simply more cynical and skeptical of it.

We were a relatively young and inexperienced peerage.

What sort of job would she need us for?

“Serafall-sama is requesting to borrow Koneko, Gasper, Xenovia, Yuki, and you, Ise,” Rias said. “She specified that she needed you, in particular for this job, Ise. She said that she wanted to speak to Yuki as well.”

I frowned.

I had only interacted directly with Serafall-sama once and been in her presence roughly three times.

I had no clue what she would need to speak with me about.

Gasper-kun let out a shriek.

“M-M-Me too?! I-I don’t want the attention of the Maou!” He said, before rushing to his cardboard box and closing himself inside.

He always kept one in the room to hide in when he got scared.

I understood that it helped him relax, but it made me sad to see him that way.

Xenovia pointed to herself.

“But why does she want us?" she asked.

Koneko nodded in agreement to the question.

It seems I was not the only one confused by this request.

“She said that she was in need of the special powers each of you possess.” Rias answered.

Our group did have a wide variety of abilities, but why did she need them?

At this point I didn't think we would be refusing her request, so I would find out from Serafall-sama directly

Rias moved to Issei and stroked his cheek.

“I would like to go with you, but Akeno and I have another task that we need to handle,” Rias said, turning to Yuuto. “Yuuto you can either go with them or come with Akeno and I as our guard.”

She then turned to Asia.

“Asia, you will go with Ise and the others. It will be a good learning experience for you to go on this request as well.

Asia nodded.

“I understand Rias-san. I will go with Ise-san.”

Yuuto looked conflicted.

“I should probably stay with Buchou and Akeno-san, even though a request from a Maou is very tempting to be a part of.

Yuuto tended to take her position as [Kight] rather seriously.

She was often the first to volunteer for Rais’s requests.

I think she was trying to make up for running off on her own during the Excalibur incident.

But right now she seemed like she was struggling to deny that she wanted to come with us.

Rias could tell.

“Yuuto, you can go with Ise and the others. Akeno and I will be fine on our own.”

“Are you sure, Buchou?” Yuuto quickly asked.

“Yes. You should take the rare chance to observe the request of a Maou.”

“I will then,” Yuuto said with a smile. “Thank you, Buchou.”

As they were speaking I heard Issei let out a surprised gasp.

I looked to see Akeno had moved to Issei’s other side and had turned his head towards her with a finger on his chin.

And now he was once again pressed between Rias and Akeno.

“It so very unfortunate that I’ll have to be away from you, but being called upon by the Maou-sama personally is very impressive,” Akeno said in a seductive voice. “It’s something only someone like my Ise-kun could do.

Issei was flushed slightly but grinning widely.

“O-of course!” He replied.

As Akeno pressed her breasts against him further his nose began to bleed as he chuckled to himself.

Then Rias pinched his cheek while puffing out her own cheeks in annoyance.

“Akeno, let go of him, we need to get going!” She said, directing a glare at Akeno.

“Ara, but you’re holding onto him as well, Rias,” Akeno pointed out with a grin.

Rias rolled her eyes and let go of Issei’s cheek.

He began to rub it as Akeno let go of him.

“Anyway, Ise, make sure you aren’t rude.” Rias told him.

He straightened up and gave her a salute.

“Don’t worry, Buchou! I haven’t forgotten the manners lessons your mother assigned me.

Rias smiled and shook her head at his antics.

Akeno looked over at me.

“Yuki-chan, would you like a heartfelt goodbye from me too? You were called upon pers by a Maou as well,” She said.

“No, I think you should save your affection for Issei-san. He seems to enjoy it more.” I replied.

Her smile shrank slightly at my words.

I tilted my head at that reaction.

“Nonsense, Yuki-chan,” she said as her smile returned to normal. “I need to show you my affection. After all, you’re very receptive to it sometimes.”

I gave her a look.

“Yes we all have lapses in judgment occasionally.” I said dully.

Akeno let out an exaggerated gasp as she clutched her chest like I had wounded her.

Rias cut in before she could continue.

“We need to get going, Akeno. You can have fun with Yuki when we get back,” Rias said.

Rias walked out of the room after scolding Akeno.

“Did you hear that Yuki-chan? We’ll need to have more ‘fun’ when I get back. Our master ordered it,” Akeno said as grinned at me.

“…you need to get going Akeno-senpai,” Keno said.

“Sadly you’re right, Koneko-chan. I’ll see you all later then. Good luck with the request.”

Akeno walked out after wishing us luck.

Issei waves a piece of paper at us.

“Buchou gave me the location we will have to head to. I’ve got coordinates for us to use a transportation magic circle to reach. We should head out.” He said.

There was a series of agreements and nods before we straightened up the club room and moved to teleport to our destination.

As we gathered together Koneko moved to my side.

“…what do you think the request will be, Yuki-senpai?”

“I’m not sure,” I replied. “But it’s coming from a Maou. So whatever it is, it won’t be simple.”

After waiting a few more moments the magic circle under our feet began to glow red, and then we were teleported out of the club room.

As the teleportation magic faded I looked around to see rocks, water, and trees and bushes.

We appeared to be on a rocky beach somewhere .

From the thick treeline we could hear the cries of animals from here.

According to the coordinates Issei was given, this Island should still be a part of Japan.

But looking at the reeling and ocean view in front of us, it certainly didn’t feel like it.

“So…” Issei said looking around slowly. “Where is Maou-sama?”

Each of us looked around, trying to see if there was anything we could identify where anyone else was.

Then the ground stsrted to shake.

There was the sounds of heavy footfalls as the stones of the beach shifted from ghe trmomore caused by them.

A giant creature broke through the treeline and headed towards us.

“Is that thing a T-Rex?!” Issei shouted in surprise.

He wasn’t wrong with his description.

The creature looked similar to what the dinosaur was thought to look like.

Without knowing what it actually was I would assume that it was a Tyrannosaurus.

As the creature came closer we all shifted to get ready to defend ourselves.

Yuuto summoned a holy demonic blade.

Xenovia summoned Durandal.

Issei summoned his Sacred Gear.

I prepared to fire a spell.

Gasper-kun and Asia moved back behind us.

Koneko stepped forward and cracked her knuckles.

Then a voice rang out from atop the creature.

“Yoo-hoo~☆ Servants of Rias-chan~☆ It’s Levia-tan☆”

Atop the creature was Serafall Leviathan-sama.

The Maou was wearing her Magical Girl costume and waving to us energetically.

She clicked her tongue twice and the creature came to a halt in front of us.

It was impressive how well she was able to control it.

“Hup!”

She made a noise as she jumped off the beast.

She did a twirl in the air and went to do a somersault, but started it far too late and ended up landing face first on the ground with a crash.

Her rather short skirt folded up and we were all able to see her striped panties as the position she landed in caused her to flash us.

She immediately jumped to her feet and struck a pose while making a peace sign.

“Be amazed☆ Serafall Leviathan, at your service☆”

She smiled brightly despite having dirt covering her face still.

None of us seemed to know how to react to all of this.

Yuuto un-summoned her sword.

Issei looked confused, but happy at what he had seen when Serafall-sama fell.

Xenovia lowered her sword but still glanced at the creature like she wanted to fight it.

I straightened my posture now that we were in the presence of a Maou.

Even if she was dressed and trying to act like a magical girl.

“Greeting Leviathan-sama,” Yuuto said, stepping forward. “We have arrived on behalf of our master as per your request. What can we do for you?”

Serafall-sama smiled at us and stuck another pose.

“I called all of you over to help shoot a film with me☆”

I slowly blinked as I took a moment to make sure I understood her.

One of the Maou called for us specially, for a film.

I glanced at the others and saw that they were just as confused as me.

From the same direction that the large beast Serafall-sama had rode over to us on, a group of people carrying cameras, lights, booms, and other filming equipment came running over to us.

She was really making a film on this island.

A middle aged looking man holding a megaphone stepped forward from the group.

“Serafall-sama! Scene 21, [The magical girl tames the ancient dinosaur] looked great! We got a good shot for it!”

I didn’t watch magical girl shows, but that sounded like a very strange scene.

“Director-san, these children are the ones I spoke to you about☆” Serafall-sama said, gesturing to us.

“Oh! I see. So they are a part of the Gremory peerage that achieved victory in their recent Rating Game!”

Our match against the Sitri peerage had been broadcast in the Underworld.

So we would be recognized more often because of it.

It was an unfortunate part of participating in the Rating Games.

If we continued to succeed in the games, we would receive more and more attention and recognition.

“So the reason I asked for you is because film director-san saw all of you fighting during your match and was inspired. So that’s while I requested you from Rias-chan. We wanted to offer you roles on this film☆”

We were called here…. to work in a film?

That's why a Maou had needed us?

Didn’t she have other Devils that could do this for her?

“We are currently shooting a film of Serfall-sama’s tokusatsu program,” the director said. “Her show is called ‘Magical☆Levia-tan’, and its primary audience is children. We would like all of you to appear as her enemies in this film.”

“M-Magical……Levia-tan, you say?” Issei said, sounding confused.

“…It’s a fairly popular show among the children of the Underworld. It’s the same as a tokusatsu show in the human world. The show is very well received in the Underworld.” Koneko explained.

I had only heard of it due to Koneko mentioning it to me before in the past.

Apparently it was like the shows in Japan where masked heroes fight off a different villain in every episode.

It was just themed to have a magical girl as the protagonist.

Koneko would watch it on occasion and liked to poke fun at some of the ridiculous plots and costumes in the show.

Thankfully she didn’t mention that part now.

“That’s right☆!” Serafall-sama said, pointing to Koneko. “The setting in the show is about me, Levia-tan, a magical girl who fights for all of Devil kind☆! My character faces off against Angels, Fallen Angels, Dragons, other supernatural beings, and those related to the Church☆. I will be annihilating all the enemies of Devils☆!”

After saying that Serafall-sama struck another cutesy pose.

It was worrying that one of the Maou had a show about fighting some of the races we just created a peace treaty with.

I didn’t understand how the other Maou hadn’t said anything about it to her.

“……Angels and Fallen Angels have been the natural enemy of Devils pretty much forever, but we finally managed to make peace with them. Is it really okay to have a potentially volatile setting like that due a show?” Issei asked.

The director smiled and laughed fearlessly.

“It is my goal to include anti-government messages within all of my work.”

I looked at Serafall-sama, but she didn’t seem to mind what the director had just said.

But she was one of the heads of the Devil government.

I realized that trying to think of the motives or concerns of the magical girl Maou was probably pointless.

Whatever this film was going to be about, we were going to be a part of it, that was all I knew for sure.
