As he watched the news, a banner scrolled across the bottom of the screen, displaying the latest updates from the front lines in the eastern supply zone.
While flipping through channels, a particular news report caught his attention.
The media reported on a newly formed volunteer group in Old Day City, composed of elite individuals dedicated to assisting residents facing various hardships.
What truly caught his attention wasn't the event itself, but the Dark God Cult's sigil emblazoned on the volunteers' uniforms.
He wasn't sure if the cult had already allied with the Spirit Energy Clan.
But news reports confirmed that the Dark God Cult's influence was quietly spreading within Old Day City.
As he listened to the "volunteers" humbly sharing their thoughts, he suddenly found it absurd. Countless demons lurking within human society were operating under the guise of righteousness, their actions even drawing widespread acclaim.
Yet few realized that beneath their polished facade lay an endless abyss as dark as ink.
With lies, they crushed true justice, imprisoning its champions, sending them to the execution block, and destroying everything they stood for.
At this thought, a line from a certain movie flashed through his mind:
A spear fired.
Did you see who fired it?
I couldn't tell. They stood on the moral high ground, bathed in sunlight.
Lost in thought, Feng Qi gradually drifted off to sleep.
After an indeterminate amount of time, a brief notification tone woke him.
He glanced at the tablet beside him, which had lit up.
Reaching for the tablet, he confirmed his suspicion: the rental unit had responded.
A message floated across the screen:
Eighth modified ship is ready. Current docking location: port 6, pier 6, berth 5.
The moment had come. Feng Qi rose and began packing his backpack.
He needed few supplies. After removing the clothes from his bag, he kept only the communicator and mental soothing potion.
Before leaving the hotel, he checked the time. His nap had stretched until 10 PM.
He stepped out of the hotel.
The supply zone remained brightly lit. He noticed a light drizzle outside, mixed with occasional snowflakes.
The sudden temperature drop had no effect on Feng Qi.
With a healthy body, he was impervious to heat and cold, living in perpetual spring.
Next, he visited a shop near the hotel and rented a vehicle, driving straight to the port.
Two hours later, Feng Qi arrived at Pier 6.
After parking the transport vehicle in its designated spot, Feng Qi got out and walked to Pier 6.
His gaze swept across the ships bobbing at the pier's edge, quickly locating the primary modified ship at fifth berth.
The rental agency had already inspected the ship before notifying him, so he didn't need to check it again.
Reaching fifth berth, he immediately untied the mooring ropes and boarded the ship.
After a brief adjustment period, the ship slowly pulled out of the port, heading toward the black curtain of light at the horizon.
Today was clearly not a good day to be at sea, as the waves were violently churning.
Due to its small tonnage, the primary modified ship lacked stability, pitching and rolling dramatically with the waves.
Waves crashed relentlessly against the deck, and seawater had already flooded the cockpit. Combined with the wind-driven snowflakes pelting the windows, the scene evoked the apocalyptic dread of an impending natural disaster.
In the face of nature's raw power, individual humans seemed utterly insignificant.
Yet Feng Qi remained remarkably calm amidst the chaos.
After all, I've seen the real apocalypse until I'm sick of it. What's a little wave? If the ship sinks, I'll just swim back!
"And I'll have to pay for the damages."
Go wash dishes for the ship rental company until you've worked off the debt. As a virtuous savior, you wouldn't run away from your obligations, would you?
"Why wouldn't I just ask the Scarlet Research Institute for help?"
After his mental retort, Feng Qi continued piloting the ship forward.
After several hours of sailing, the sea's turbulence intensified rather than abating.
The towering waves ahead crashed down like black veils, repeatedly slamming into the modified ship and nearly submerging it entirely.
Fortunately, the ship's robust construction allowed it to withstand the relentless battering. Though the hull shuddered violently, no major damage occurred.
As they continued their journey, the docks of the eastern supply zone receded into the distance, vanishing from sight.
Only the surging waves remained visible.
Suddenly, the ship struck something with a deafening crash.
Alarms blared as water began flooding the hull.
The Narrator's voice echoed in Feng Qi's mind:
A massive underwater creature has appeared. No doubt it's a domain creature. Looks like the ship's a goner. Get ready to start washing dishes to pay off your debt.
Feng Qi's face darkened upon hearing the Narrator's warning.
He hadn't expected to be targeted by a Domain-Transcending Creature even before entering the Domain Field.
Now that the ship's hull was breached and he had no training in damage control, he was utterly clueless about how to respond.
In a desperate attempt to keep the ship afloat, he pressed the button to seal the bottom compartments.
It's coming!
As the Narrator's words faded, the ship was struck again, the colossal force sending it skidding across the water's surface.
The alarm blared anew.
Feng Qi was furious.
He stormed out of the cockpit and onto the forward deck, his gaze sweeping the sea. Beneath the surface, he spotted massive scarlet eyes. The giant beast's dark shadow nearly enveloped the entire eighth modified ship, and he could faintly discern the faint glow of scales on its submerged body.
Take it down!
Heeding the Narrator's prompt, Feng Qi didn't hesitate. He dove into the sea.
Underwater, he got a clear look at the sea beast.
The creature was roughly ten meters long, with a long, serpentine tail. It resembled a colossal lizard, swimming swiftly through the water before vanishing into the dark depths.
Before Feng Qi could react, the beast whipped its tail, surging from the darkness with terrifying speed. Its massive jaws, lined with razor-sharp teeth, snapped open as it lunged at him.
Feng Qi immediately activated his telekinesis to evade the snapping jaws, but before the power could manifest, the giant beast's jaws clamped down on him.
The terrifying bite force erupted, and Feng Qi's body instantly tensed.
"A contest of strength?"
Supporting the giant beast's relentlessly descending upper jaw, dark green flames ignited in his eyes.
Underwater combat wasn't his forte, but brute strength was his specialty.
The dark green flames burned fiercely, defying the surging seawater as they enveloped Feng Qi's entire body.
As his heart pounded faster, Qi and Blood Power surged through his pores, continuously regenerating flesh and muscle.
With each bodily transformation, his strength surged exponentially.
He gradually pried open the giant beast's jaws.
The giant beast suddenly whipped its tail, dragging him straight into the deep sea.
The water pressure intensified rapidly as they plunged into the lightless abyss.
Feng Qi decided to end this quickly. He released his grip on the giant beast's upper jaw, and the jaws snapped shut, swallowing him whole.
Sliding down the giant beast's throat, he felt intense pressure from all sides.
At that moment, the dark green flames ignited the giant beast's internal organs, leaving corrosive black spots in their wake.
The giant beast began to convulse violently, its muffled roars of agony echoing through the water.
Feng Qi unleashed his destructive fury.
He advanced with relentless punches and kicks, the Narrator's voice echoing in his mind:
Kick his liver... stomp his lungs... deliver a fatal headbutt to his kidneys!
Under his brutal assault, the giant beast's body rapidly deteriorated into a mangled wreck. Even its highly corrosive stomach acid couldn't harm him in his Blood Source Form.
Finally, he tore through the giant beast's flesh, violently ripping his way out of its carcass.
The external water pressure was immense, and no light penetrated the depths. He could only make out the giant beast's massive, dimly glowing eyes.
