Chapter 2089: Chapter 595: Uneasy (Part 4)
Zhao Huai and Qiao Yi watched as he messaged Qin Mu, but Qin Mu only replied with one sentence, forcing a laugh: "Yichen, what kind of days are we living in at home?"
Mu Yichen raised his eyes, seeing Qiao Yi’s sympathetic look, and put away his phone, then said mysteriously: "Someone like you wouldn’t understand."
Qiao Yi instantly felt suffocated, as if about to spew old blood.
Zhao Huai laughed, not daring to joke too much with his two older brothers, but watching their banter was truly adorable.
"Yes! I don’t understand why you’re so foolish, but I know you’ll definitely go to Qin Mu’s studio early this afternoon to find her."
Qiao Yi was unhappy, wanting to retort.
"You’re wrong again; she’s not at work today. She’s gone with her grandfather for a check-up and then to Jixiang Restaurant for lunch."
Mu Yichen felt much better about it, suddenly not thinking there were any faults in his wife. Even her flaws were virtues, intensely wonderful.
Qiao Yi felt like he was actually spitting that old blood out.
"What do you mean?"
Qiao Yi’s eye twitched, asking one last question as if on his deathbed.
"After lunch, she’ll send her grandfather home; given her personality, she won’t go out again!"
Mu Yichen perfectly demonstrated what it meant to truly understand someone.
Qiao Yi finally spat out that mouthful of old blood, no hope of survival left.
Zhao Huai looked at Qiao Yi’s utterly devastated stance, unable to stop laughing: "Brother, are you okay? You should look on the bright side!"
"Whose side are you on anyway?"
Qiao Yi asked Zhao Huai angrily.
"Actually, from the first time I met Qin Mu, I understood: between Yichen and Qin Mu, Yichen is destined to give more, but Qin Mu is willing to spend her life with him. I think that’s quite nice."
Zhao Huai remembered the time he blocked Qin Mu at the airport, not letting her leave Rongcheng. He remembered her look at that moment clearly, seeming heartless yet full of helplessness—she liked him, just unsure if she could have him.
"Even though you haven’t risen in status yet, your discernment is excellent!"
Mu Yichen couldn’t help but praise him, clinking glasses with him.
Seeing the two of them syncing up so well, Qiao Yi felt more utterly defeated, believing that he hadn’t withdrawn yet but was already excluded, crying inwardly.
——
At Jixiang Restaurant, after lunch, two juniors were helping an elder leave. As Gongzhi Ping’an was also leaving, the four of them met at the door. Gongzhi Ping’an’s car was in front, but before leaving, he walked over to greet them and whispered to Qin Mu: "I mentioned that I also have a request for you."
Qin Mu reflexively glanced at him and asked: "Please, go ahead!"
"I’ll contact you later! Goodbye, Grandfather!"
Gongzhi Ping’an knew it wasn’t appropriate to speak now as the elders were present, so he lowered his head to greet the elderly person in the car.
The old man nodded slightly, and as Gongzhi Ping’an left, before getting in the car, Helian Hao asked Qin Mu: "What did he say?"
"Nothing much, let’s go!"
Qin Mu didn’t tell Helian Hao the truth, just sent him to sit in the front passenger seat.
After picking up some test results from the hospital, confirming that the elders’ health was alright, Qin Mu and Helian Hao parted ways, first taking the Jing family elder home.
"Goodbye, Grandpa Jing!"
Qin Mu escorted him to the door but didn’t go inside.
The Jing family elder, with his cane, headed inside, hearing Qin Mu’s courteous yet polite goodbye, he turned to glance at her, then stared ahead, pondering aloud before proceeding. Actually, on the way to the hospital, he hadn’t deliberately asked if Qin Haiming had been in an accident on that road, but now, maybe it wasn’t suitable to explain to her, right?
Qin Mu watched him walk away, turning to get back in the car.
"Mumu, you know, despite your Grandpa Jing being quick-tongued, he’s not a bad person."
The old man spoke to her earnestly.
"Grandpa, don’t worry. Knowing Grandpa Jing for these years, this is nothing to me."
Qin Mu started the car, heading home.
Mu’s elder was pleased with his granddaughter-in-law’s forgiving nature, yet he sighed helplessly. Jing’s elder said it wasn’t intentional, but no one wanted to mention Qin Haiming to Qin Mu, lest it upset her.
Back home, Qin Mu informed Feng Fanghua about the elder’s health status and then returned to her room. As she just removed her coat to put it away, the phone in her bag rang.
Gongzhi Ping’an, that name immediately came to mind, but she still opened her bag to find the phone.
Indeed, it was him. Qin Mu glanced and answered the call: "Hello?"
"I heard recently you’ve been resting at home often, seems you shouldn’t be too busy?"
