His Beloved Treasure
Chapter 2170 - 629: One Year Later (6) What a Coincidence_2Chapter 2170: Chapter 629: One Year Later (6) What a Coincidence_2
Mu Yichen stared at his own reflection in the glass panel, unable to pull himself out of tonight’s gathering for a long, long time.
He didn’t sleep well all night.
The next day, though, was an extremely bright, sunny day.
Feng Fanghua got up early. Seeing her son come downstairs, she teased him, "I heard your ex‑wife is back?"
Mu Yichen didn’t even lift his eyes. Knowing his mom was about to roast him, he walked over to the sofa and sat down, leaned his head back, pinching the bridge of his nose with one hand to relax, and answered carelessly, "Yeah."
"What’s she back for? I’m telling you, if she wants to take Chengcheng and Huanhuan away, no way in hell."
What weighs on Feng Fanghua the most now are those two little ones; she’s terrified Qin Mu will come and snatch them.
Since Qin Mu has completely given up on Mu Yichen, she’s likewise completely given up on Qin Mu. Although Feng Fanghua has never experienced any soul‑crushing love affair herself, at her age she knows that once a woman’s heart dies for a man, it can never be brought back to life. So this time she didn’t let Qin Mu take the kids the way she used to. If it had been before, she would’ve already flown to Paris to watch over Qin Mu; this time she didn’t.
"Did you know Chengcheng’s arm got hurt?"
Mu Yichen didn’t take her words too seriously, knowing she just blurts things out. He only asked, a bit tiredly.
"What?"
Feng Fanghua was startled.
"Your grandson insists it was Chen Xiaoyi who hurt him. He got Qin Mingzhu and Helian Hao to call Qin Mu and scared her into coming back. You might want to think that over."
Mu Yichen didn’t bring up anything else, just briefly went over what had happened.
Feng Fanghua froze. A girl as timid as Chen Xiaoyi, how could she possibly have the guts? But after all, she’d watched too many TV dramas about child abuse. The more she thought about it, the more anxious she felt, and she hurriedly turned around and went upstairs.
Mu Yichen opened his eyes a little, and seeing how fast she was walking, the corners of his lips curled faintly.
He thought, Madam Mu slept over at the Qin Family last night; who knows if she slept as badly as he did. No, how could she possibly not sleep well?
Qin Mu really hadn’t slept well. Alcohol truly is bad for the body; when she woke up in the morning her head hurt terribly. Even after taking medicine for the headache, it didn’t ease much.
Normally there were only Qin Mingzhu and Wang Huanyu at home. The elders of the Wang Family had moved to Rongcheng and bought a villa near the school, living over there. They only came by morning and evening for the sake of the kids; otherwise they wouldn’t come.
It was just the three of them at breakfast. Seeing that Qin Mu looked unwell, Wang Huanyu asked, "You don’t have a fever, do you?"
"I just had a few extra drinks last night, it’s fine."
Qin Mu replied softly, with no appetite, and put down the spoon for her congee.
"Is it because you had a few extra drinks, or because you saw that Chen Xiaoyi?"
Qin Mingzhu, sharp‑eyed, watched Qin Mu and couldn’t resist bringing this person up.
Qin Mu sighed helplessly. "You know I don’t like her. Why do you have to bring her up?"
"I just can’t stand you people—thinking one thing in your hearts and saying another with your mouths. Look at that Chen Xiaoyi. She knew full well it was a gathering of our own people, so why did she still show up? And she even said she’s your fan. Isn’t it all for your ex‑brother‑in‑law to see? What’s with that fake cutesy act?"
Once Qin Mingzhu started complaining, she couldn’t stop.
Wang Huanyu glanced at her, smiled helplessly, then turned to Qin Mu and said, "Just let Mingzhu’s words go in one ear and out the other, don’t take them to heart."
"I’d love to, but she says so much—how am I supposed to filter it all?"
Qin Mu was smiling too. When it came to Qin Mingzhu, the two of them really spoiled her rotten.
"Hmph! You two stop ganging up on me. Let’s talk about the kids first. Sis, why don’t we just sue them and have Chengcheng and Huanhuan both take our last name? Wouldn’t that be great?"
Qin Mingzhu had been mulling this over all night. She’d gone on and on about it with Wang Huanyu, and now she’d started in on Qin Mu.
Qin Mu was actually surprised. Huanhuan used to have her last name; later, Feng Fanghua insisted on changing Huanhuan’s surname to Mu.
"What surname they use isn’t really important. Even if they took you sisters’ surname, would that make them any less Mu Yichen’s kids? The key is, Qin Mu, what do you really think in your heart?"
"What do I think? If Chengcheng really is being bullied, and if Mu Yichen really plans to marry Chen Xiaoyi, of course I’m not willing to let him keep taking Chengcheng and Huanhuan. By then we probably really won’t be able to avoid a court battle."
Just thinking about that gave Qin Mu a headache.
The Mu Family would never hand the kids over to her, not in a million years. She couldn’t even get past Feng Fanghua, let alone if Mu Yichen utterly despised her. In that case, Feng Fanghua wouldn’t even need to say anything—Mu Yichen would already be telling her not to even think about it.
