Chapter 55: New Intelligence

After handing the new equipment to the Blood Blade Special Team, Li Qingye instructed Bagheera to pull 200 members from their ranks and prepare to deploy them to Hongsawaddy.

This was partly to covertly protect Qingye Group, and partly to strengthen their infiltration of Hongsawaddy.

After all, northern Hongsawaddy was currently unstable. In the regions carved up by warlords, controlling the local leaders was far more difficult than in the stable southern area.

Sometimes, combat was unavoidable. If you didn’t strike first, others would force your hand, or you’d simply be torn to shreds. That region was a place where only the strong survived.

Ordinary Soldiers, relying on firearms, still struggled to establish absolute superiority.

That was why the Blood Blade Special Team was needed.

Just as Li Qingye was planning to return to Kalaqua Island,

an encrypted message arrived via the fiber-optic network at the Blood Blade training base. It was addressed to Phil, the head of the Internal Affairs Department.

After reading it, Phil immediately reported to Li Qingye, "Boss, Minister Chen has received intelligence that Yang Tianci will be traveling to Siam Bangkok on May 22nd to participate in a secret business negotiation."

"About what?" Li Qingye asked casually.

"A partnership for Malaysia’s undersea oil fields."

"Undersea oil fields? Is the New Nanyang Company involved in that business?" Li Qingye sifted through his memories of the data. It seemed the New Nanyang Company had no such related industries.

Phil immediately replied, "According to Yang Tiancheng’s confession, the New Nanyang Company isn’t in the oil and gas extraction industry. However, an informant in our Security Department discovered that the New Nanyang Company and its partners appear to have sold their shares in a ride-hailing app to Temasek Investment in exchange for other benefits."

Li Qingye gently stroked his chin. "Temasek Investment? That’s the same company that worked with Du Shuping to take several of Xinxin Group’s subsidiaries public. It seems a deeper investigation into this company is warranted."

He then instructed Phil to notify Chen Jianxiong to find a way to infiltrate Temasek Investment Company and investigate the details of their past dealings with Du Shuping and the others.

Meanwhile, he began reviewing the intelligence report on Yang Tianci’s upcoming trip to Bangkok.

The Yang Family was close with a number of Chinese Merchants in Southeast Asia, a fact that warranted close attention. The Xu Clan of Luzon, for example, had a good relationship with Yang Haibo.

Li Qingye had no intention of missing the opportunity presented by the secret meeting Yang Tianci and the others were planning in Bangkok.

And it was time for the "target"—Qingye Group—to make its official appearance.

Li Qingye casually tossed the file into an incinerator, his eyes filled with cold, murderous intent.

’Be afraid!’

’You rats!’

’Let’s start with Yang Tianci!’

He boarded one of three yachts with Phil and the others and returned to Kalaqua Island.

Chen Jianxiong, upon receiving his orders, was not in Luzon. He was on the northern coast of Borneo in Malaysia.

He quickly instructed a subordinate to take the directive to the Xing Island intelligence station. They were then to proceed to Bangkok to have the local team investigate Temasek Investment Company and mobilize the Siam station.

The reason they used human couriers to pass intelligence, rather than the internet or satellite phones, was primarily to minimize the risk of leaks.

However, the Soldier tasked with delivering the intelligence wouldn’t go directly to the local station. Instead, they would use a pheromone hive computer to exchange information locally via Messenger Dragonflies.

Unless absolutely necessary, personnel from the intelligence stations and headquarters avoided direct contact.

Meanwhile, Chen Jianxiong was on the northern coast of Borneo to solve a communications problem. He was leading a team of Soldiers in secretly laying an undersea fiber-optic cable.

That’s right—they were laying an undersea fiber-optic cable.

The cable stretched from southern Luzon Island, along the shallows, toward Borneo. In fact, the initial version of their underwater combat suits had been specifically developed for this very purpose: laying undersea fiber-optic cables.

They secretly transported the cable using fishing boats, simply dropping it in areas where the water was over 200 meters deep. In shallower regions, they manually buried the cable beneath the sand.

Near Borneo, the undersea cable was pulled ashore under the cover of a coastal plantation they had purchased. This plantation served as the Borneo 01 information exchange point.

Within the exchange point, they used Messenger Dragonflies to relay information to the intelligence station, again avoiding any direct contact.

Chen Jianxiong considered the timeline. He had to be in Bangkok by the 22nd, and it was already the 7th. That left only half a month. Extending the undersea cable all the way to Siam in that time was basically impossible.

Therefore, he immediately had another Spider Web Manager take over the cable-laying operation. He himself would return to Luzon, gather his elite forces, and head to Bangkok to carry out Li Qingye’s orders.

After flying back to Manila, Chen Jianxiong quickly returned to the headquarters on Kalaqua Island.

"Boss, I plan to lead the team to Bangkok myself."

Li Qingye didn’t object. "You may. Just remember your objectives. First, find out exactly what Yang Tianci and the others are discussing. Second, coordinate with the Qingye Group team to let Yang Tianci discover that I’m still alive. Third, use those little ’gadgets’ of ours to give that bastard a taste of a living hell."

GULP! A chill ran down Chen Jianxiong’s spine. After all, he had seen plenty of the things that came out of Li Qingye’s laboratory.

In the past, he might have thought a biologist was no different from any ordinary person.

But at this moment, Chen Jianxiong realized that biologists were the most terrifying creatures of all. One should never offend a biologist—especially a brilliant and incredibly wealthy one. That was a monster among monsters.

Chen Jianxiong quickly replied, "Yes, Boss! I’ll make sure that guy experiences a fate worse than death."

"Don’t betray my trust in you. And be careful. If the situation becomes untenable, don’t take unnecessary risks," Li Qingye advised.

"I will heed your instructions, Boss."

Chen Jianxiong quickly assembled a team of 20 subordinates—3 professional Spider Web Managers and 17 Soldiers. With all sorts of specialized equipment, they set out for Siam in two groups.

Chen Jianxiong’s group flew over directly, carrying nothing with them.

The rest would travel by fishing boat and enter via a covert dive from international waters near Siam.

The two groups would then rendezvous at a plantation near Bangkok.

An invisible net was rapidly closing around Bangkok, awaiting the arrival of its target.

On May 13th, Chen Jianxiong, who had already been in contact with the Siam intelligence station personnel in Bangkok, received the latest update.

Two major families from Malaysia had sent representatives who secretly arrived in Bangkok. They were discussing the development of Malaysia’s undersea oil fields with a local Siam-based Huashang Clan.

After obtaining the detailed contents of their conversation, Chen Jianxiong was quickly able to assess the situation.

Meanwhile, Qingye Group was also running ads in Bangkok, promoting its glass products. Small advertisements were plastered everywhere as they quietly waited for the fish to take the bait.

In the early morning hours of May 16, another team from the Security Department successfully made landfall on the coast of Siam via a covert dive, carrying a large amount of equipment and supplies.

The pickup team was waiting with a van to transport the personnel and their gear to the small plantation near Bangkok.

After the rendezvous, Chen Jianxiong began assigning tasks. Everyone took their equipment and dispersed to their pre-planned positions throughout the various districts of Bangkok.

Now, all they had to do was wait for Yang Tianci to make his entrance.
