The scenery visible through the carriage window was simply beautiful at a glance.
Although the season when the autumn leaves would fade was slowly drawing near, the trees still shone prettily in an array of colors under the warm sunlight.
"My, what a truly beautiful place."
And the exclamation didn't come only from me. Kyros, who had been happily flying around among the children until just a moment ago, came drifting over to my side.
Kyros stared at the beautiful scenery with wide eyes and marveled. I watched the back of that Kyros and gently stroked his soft fur.
"Isn't it, really?"
"Right. After all...... the world is a beautiful place."
Hearing Kyros murmur those words, I smiled to myself. This place too was somewhere in my memory. A place from the memories of the real Revelof Holden.
Back then, Grandfather and Father had been there too. Such were the memories that remained in my head — the whole family gathering to spend time together.
'How strange......'
Every time I unexpectedly came face to face with a place like this, imbued with those memories, I felt a peculiar emotion. I found myself thinking that it would have been nice if I truly were the real Revelof Holden, and I felt both envious and sad — a whole mix of feelings.
'Even so, today I'll just think good thoughts.'
Because today was a good day with Grandmother, the children, and Kyros, and even Terdius.
As I thought that, the carriage arrived at its destination and stopped.
"Now, everyone get out carefully."
When the carriage door opened automatically, Grandmother said to the children. She carefully got out of the carriage with the children.
Then when I and Terdius got out after them, the carriage door closed on its own. Simultaneously, Grandmother extended her hand toward the carriage, and something remarkable happened.
Poof—!
When Grandmother infused her power into the carriage, with a puff of smoke it shrank. The carriage transformed like a toy and stood in the palm of Grandmother's hand.
"The Archmage's power really is boundless."
I marveled looking at the carriage on Grandmother's hand. Grandmother grinned in response.
"Ha ha, isn't it? Jenna's power is truly remarkable."
It wasn't through my own efforts but Grandmother's — yet I was sincerely glad to have Jenna Lewis on our side. With a powerhouse like her with us, the war would be considerably reassuring.
'Even so, calling this place a lodge...... it's really no different from a villa.'
I marveled quietly as I looked at the villa building settled partway up the mountain. The villa built predominantly from natural timber was considerably large in scale.
Of course it couldn't hold a candle to the scale of the Holden family villa — but as Grandmother's personally owned lodge, it was a manor large enough to accommodate quite a number of people.
And it was a beautiful villa that harmonized with the surrounding nature, with truly spectacular views.
"Wow, is this Lady Helena's lodge?"
As I was marveling at the villa, Sasha pressed close to Grandmother and asked. Sasha's expression was the brightest and most adorable I had ever seen.
'So Sasha could make an expression like that......'
Since Sasha had always been expressionless toward me and the other officers, it was a little hurtful.
But still, I was grateful that Sasha was playing the role of adorable grandchild for Grandmother in place of her grown grandchildren who weren't there.
"Right, this is my lodge. Everyone can feel at home here."
Grandmother said while stroking Sasha's hair. Sasha's eyes lit up.
"The lodge is truly wonderful!"
"Isn't it? Ha ha, it's my favorite of all the buildings I own."
While Sasha and Grandmother talked, Alphius and Chester began taking things out of their subspace.
"Alphi, Chessy. What's all that?"
Unable to contain my curiosity, I asked the two children. Alphius grinned and answered:
"The Knight Commander prepared all of it!"
What the two children took out were several large picnic baskets. They were covered so the inside couldn't be seen, making it hard to guess the contents.
On top of that, if food were inside there should have been a smell — but thanks to what must have been Jenna Lewis's magic, not a single scent came off them.
"Right, just as Alphi said, I'm the one who prepared these."
I was watching Alphius and Chester moving the picnic baskets inside when Grandmother spoke to me.
"Ah, is that so."
"Yes. Today I gave the lodge caretaker a holiday. I thought having servants around might make you all uncomfortable. So instead I prepared various things myself. Of course, the lodge also has some things stocked already."
I was moved by Grandmother's words. Because if there had been servants, I wouldn't have been able to take off my glasses and relax. And the children and Kyros would have been uncomfortable too.
"Thank you, Grandmother."
I expressed my gratitude to Grandmother and took off the glasses I'd been wearing. At that, I made eye contact with both Ivan and Terdius.
'Come to think of it, Ivan doesn't know my true identity.'
But I wasn't particularly worried. After all, Terdius already knew my identity, and Ivan wasn't going to spread rumors about me.
'On top of that, I've already called Grandmother "grandmother" in front of Ivan.'
My identity was as good as already exposed. As I was thinking that, Terdius took Ivan's hand and said:
"Don't worry. Ivan has never leaked a single confidential matter regarding Kyros Church."
"Yes, I know. And I trust Brother Ivan."
I smiled and looked at Ivan. Ivan looked up at me with shining eyes and said:
"Wow...... Church Leader always shines."
"Ha ha, is that so?"
"Yes, yes. You were shining even with your glasses on, but you shine without them too. Wow."
Ivan exclaimed with fresh amazement at my appearance. Well, it would be his first time seeing me without glasses.
"Thank you. Now let's head inside."
I gestured to Grandmother and the group and headed toward the lodge. Then the puppy Kyros, who had apparently already gone inside and been exploring, came bounding out.
"Child!"
Kyros came running to me with bright eyes, so excited.
"Yes, Lord Kyros."
"This place is really wonderful! If you go around the back of the building you can enter the forest. And there's a valley, and it's full of lush trees so it feels great!"
Kyros dove straight into my arms and kept chattering away. I stroked the puppy Kyros's fur.
"Is that so? All right."
And I went inside the lodge. The interior was as large as it had looked from outside. Even though it was a three-story building, the ceiling height was considerable.
Here and there were various items used in mountain lodges, and the second and third floors had rooms each person could use.
Just as Kyros had said, the back of the building connected to the forest, and a fresh woodland scent wafted through.
"Isn't it wonderful!"
When I stepped out onto the terrace at the back of the building, Kyros broke free from my arms and started hopping and leaping.
"Yes, yes. It's nice."
I answered Kyros offhandedly and stepped back inside, where the officers had all gathered in the dining room, apparently having already finished their exploring.
"Levi, come here. Let's fill our stomachs first."
And Grandmother pointed to one of the picnic baskets on the table and spoke. The meal time had finally arrived.
"Yes!"
I immediately went over to Grandmother and the officers. At that, puppy Kyros came bounding over too.
"Wh, what about mine? There's a portion for me too, right?"
"Yes, yes. Don't worry, Lord Kyros."
Grandmother, as naturally as if soothing a young child, settled Kyros and opened a picnic basket. Various foods spilled out from inside it.
Sandwiches, seemingly freshly grilled bacon, roast chicken, salad soup, and more. All that food felt as if it had just been prepared.
Rather like taking food straight from my inventory. Which meant all the secret was in the picnic baskets.
"Grandmother, don't tell me these picnic baskets too......"
Before I even finished, Grandmother nodded with a smile.
"Right. All of these were given to me by Jenna. The food can be kept fresh for a long time."
"Ha, ha ha. Truly remarkable."
Marveling at the great mage once again, the food setting was already finished. The long dining table in the room was filled with the delicious food Grandmother had prepared.
"I cooked all of it myself, so please everyone enjoy."
"Lady Helena, you are truly amazing! I'll eat well!"
"Th, thank you!"
"Thank you, Knight Commander!"
Led by the officers, we thanked Grandmother and began to eat.
"And this is Lord Kyros's portion."
Grandmother took out the meat dishes Kyros liked and placed them in front of him. Puppy Kyros looked at Grandmother with glittering eyes.
"Thank you so much, child. I'll eat well!"
And immediately he buried his nose in the plate and started eating. I watched puppy Kyros's food stream and ate slowly.
Kyros instantly grabbed a piece of meat in his mouth and chewed and swallowed it with relish.
"Mmm, delicious!"
Kyros called out happily and kept swallowing meat one after another. This is why he disappears without a word sometimes.
I shook my head and continued eating.
After one round of eating, we gathered around the tea table on the terrace at the back of the lodge. We had been about to have a light cup of tea, but somehow ended up watching the children playing and running around happily.
Of course, Kyros was in among them.
The starting point of the play was nothing other than a small ball Ivan had brought. He had packed it because they were going on a picnic, and set it down on the ground suggesting they play ball.
The ball began to roll naturally, and Kyros, who witnessed this, immediately went charging after it.
When puppy Kyros started running, the children followed as if enchanted. But Sasha stayed pressed close to Grandmother's side, and Grandmother began to play with the children for Sasha's sake.
And so Grandmother, Kyros, and the children all began playing tag and hide-and-seek together.
In the end, the only ones left at the tea table were myself and Terdius.
I sipped my tea and watched Kyros and the children running hard through the forest. Then from across the table, a voice calling me was heard.
"Leviathan."
Naturally, it was Terdius.
He was looking at me with the same serious eyes as always.
"Yes, Brother Terdius."
Terdius then asked:
"Is today...... the last holiday given to us?"
