Chapter 131: Chap.128 - Platform 9 3/4

Rigel woke up as usual that day, being hugged like a rag doll by Calypso.

At first, he felt uncomfortable, but now he felt nothing anymore.

It was incredible what custom could do, perhaps that had been Calypso's plan from the beginning, slowly but surely entering his life.

Not only that, she wasn't clingy all the time, only at night. During the day she would only show up occasionally, exchanging a few words and bringing coffee and snacks. They would sit and chat a bit while they ate, then she would go back to work, as would he.

She even took over Kreacher's cooking duties, well, she already cooks in the POTC world, but it was only after they moved that she took on the task, perhaps because she realized that Kreacher felt unhappy about having his task taken away, so she let the house-elf help.

It should have been incredibly annoying, but Rigel had to admit that once he put his pride aside, that feeling of being taken care of was... good.

This scared him more than he could say.

He had to say that the first time she brought him coffee, he thought she had put a love potion in it, if it weren't for knowing that the coffin would cure him the moment he fell asleep, he wouldn't have dared to drink it.

It wasn't that he didn't trust Calypso, but when it came to certain matters, like winning Rigel's love, he had no doubt that she could be quite... persuasive. Rigel even worked harder on his Occlumency, enough to resist any mental invasion or consciousness-altering potion long enough to protect himself.

Calypso didn't use a love potion or anything like that, she simply bombarded him with constant care and affection.

Rigel can only accept everything passively. Thus he came to the conclusion, if you can't avoid it, take advantage of it.

That was why when Rigel woke up that day, he didn't move, instead, he closed his eyes and listened to her heartbeat, heard her steady breathing, felt the gentle squeeze. He almost fell back asleep, but when the cracking sound came close to him, he knew that time was up.

As he expected, Kreacher came to wake them up.

As soon as she was awakened by Kreacher, Calypso let out a long, deep groan of reluctance, hugging Rigel even tighter. Rigel didn't move, simply letting the woman convince herself.

Calypso remained like that for a few more minutes, before letting out a long sigh, releasing him.

Rigel didn't run away immediately, he just calmly stood up, looking at Calypso. He looked away, getting out of bed silently. Calypso rolled her eyes at Rigel, she could already tell that Rigel liked this, but he preferred to pretend he didn't.

Calypso didn't expose him, she just watched him as he went to the bathroom with a change of clothes, when he came out, he was already ready for the trip.

Not far away, his trunk was already packed, courtesy of Kreacher.

He couldn't just pull things out of thin air, so the trunk was still necessary.

Rigel looked at the figure of Salazar sleeping near the fireplace on a perch that Calypso had placed for him. The yellow snake glanced at Rigel briefly before snuggling back down, its hours of sleep were not yet over.

Jack, on the other hand, had his own 'bed', it was basically a wooden perch with a small wooden house on top. It seemed small for the monkey, but Calypso had expanded the interior. Jack had a comfortable bed, random items that he picked up and considered his own, and even spare food that he grabbed when Kreacher wasn't looking.

He wasn't visible, although in most cases the monkey was usually the first to wake up, jumping around making noise.

The bedroom walls had also been decorated, Calypso had discovered that she really liked magical paintings, and she painted in her free time. Above their bed, there was a painting of them sleeping together, which Rigel ignored.

There were also some other paintings, such as them in the form of merman/mermaid swimming through the sea, or them sitting on thrones with crowns like kings... Rigel really felt ashamed looking at that one.

Throughout the rest of the house there were more, some belonging to his former crew members, others to Jack, Salazar, and even Kreacher, some that Rigel didn't recognize. One of them was a beautiful woman, Calypso said it was her mother's, but didn't elaborate much further.

Rigel didn't ask.

Calypso went even further, she acquired many magical plants and placed them throughout the house, even filling the garden with them. She created a greenhouse using the Traceless Elongation Spell. Of course, they had to pay for a license beforehand, but the place was quite large. Kreacher also became responsible for helping to care for the plants, much to the elf's delight.

Calypso also wanted to create magical animals, but unfortunately Rigel hadn't thought of that when he created her identity, so she would need a specific license for that. Even then, the animals she could create were limited, there were many laws regarding the creation of magical animals that she had to take into account.

Unfortunately, although Calypso's proficiency with this spell was advancing rapidly, it hadn't yet reached the point where she could create a complete ecosystem like Newt's suitcase, there were many other spells to learn before that. Until then, she could only practice more, but judging by her talent, it wouldn't take long.

Finally... the place looked more and more like a home than the Blacks' house ever was, if Rigel could tell.

Leaving aside the changes in her environment, in terms of connections, Calypso made quite a few. She didn't go out much, but somehow she became friends with Rosmerta, the owner of the Three Broomsticks, and because of that, she soon knew practically everyone in Hogsmeade.

Rosmerta and Madame Puddifoot would occasionally appear for tea, not that Rigel saw them, he had no interest in that.

Calypso stood up when she saw Rigel finish, she went into the bathroom right after, if it were up to her, she could show everything in front of Rigel, but Rigel was clear about nudity issues, he barely tolerated her mermaid form, if she started walking around naked... Rigel shook his head.

Calypso didn't take long to get ready, Rigel was going to catch the train to Hogwarts. Yes, it was ridiculous and redundant, but a requirement of the Ministry of Magic, yet another of the senseless rules tied to wizarding tradition.

He was literally next to Hogwarts, but he had to go to London to catch a train. Welcome to the English magical world, where rules are made to preserve 'wizarding culture' rather than the general welfare.

Today they had breakfast prepared by Kreacher. Jack appeared at some point, climbing onto the table and eating quietly, without getting messy, his eyes focused on Kreacher, making faces at him when he thought Kreacher wasn't looking.

Rigel wouldn't take Salazar, but he would take Jack with him, he had already sent a request for approval to Dumbledore, along with the legal acquisition documents for the monkey. In the end, he received approval the next day, it was quite quick.

As for why bring Jack? Well, he could be very useful on most occasions, he could spy and steal without being noticed. A small, fast creature with opposable thumbs was much more useful than a sleeping snake.

Of course, Jack also begged to follow Rigel, he didn't want to spend the whole year with Kreacher. After being annoyed enough, Rigel agreed.

Kreacher was also pleased, he still expected Rigel to get beaten up by the Slytherins if he showed up with a weak snake named Salazar.

After eating, Calypso grabbed Rigel's arm. Rigel didn't even blink when they were sucked up by a space straw. When they reappeared, they were in an alley near London Station.

Rigel carried his suitcase with one hand, and Jack, perched on his shoulders, along with him and Calypso wearing capes, attracted attention wherever they went.

The muggles stared at them as if they were from a circus, but Rigel didn't care. A guard tried to stop Rigel to ask for Jack's documentation, but Calypso simply used Confundus on him and they continued on their way.

On the platform, Rigel had arrived early, so he didn't witness the scene of the Weasleys meeting Harry, instead, he saw several wizards and witches passing through the space between platforms 9 and 10.

Rigel didn't run, he and Calypso calmly passed through the area, and before he knew it, he was on a completely different platform.

Rigel wondered how this worked, but he didn't have time to think about it now, they approached the other wizards, this time attracting only a few glances.

Rigel was finally ready to go inside, ready to say goodbye to Calypso. The woman clearly seemed reluctant, she cherished her last days so much that she wished they would never end, but they did. Even though Hogwarts was right next door, she could no longer see Rigel all the time, nor sleep embraced by him.

Sighing, she was ready to hug him, but seeing Rigel's hard look, she held back.

Okay, no more public displays of affection, she'd forgotten. She rolled her eyes at him, finding his attitude silly, but in the end, she could only take it slow. She had made a lot of progress lately, especially in the last month.

She prepared for a more formal farewell, but at that moment a voice made them look to the side.

"Rigel, you've come to Hogwarts too!" A voice called to Rigel from behind.
