There was a distance of ten kilometres between them. Lu Ye was calm and collected, whereas Yu Daiwei doubtfully looked around but didn’t find anything suspicious.
The place where Lu Ye stood seemed to have the traces of a battle. A pit wasn’t far away from him which was formed when someone crashed into the ground. Moreover, blood stains were seen on the ground.
“What are you looking for?” Lu Ye held his saber and secretly activated his power.
“How did he die?” Yu Daiwei was puzzled. She had scanned the surroundings but couldn’t find any hidden powerful cultivator. There were only two possibilities. There might not be anyone else around. Or, the person hiding somewhere was a Ghost Cultivator. The person had concealed his presence, so Yu Daiwei couldn’t detect him.
A Ghost Cultivator who could avoid her detection must not be underestimated, which was why she was vigilant.
“I killed him.”
Although Lu Ye didn’t directly kill Zhang Song, he did push him over the edge.
Yu Daiwei pursed her lips. “You did?”
It wasn’t that she looked down on Lu Ye, but she just hadn’t realised how much he had changed. Lu Ye was only a Fifth-Order Real Lake Realm Master two years ago. Regardless of how fast he could increase his power, there was no way he was mighty now.
He couldn’t possibly have killed Zhang Song, a Third-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master.
“Yes, I did!” As soon as Lu Ye finished speaking, he exerted more force on his legs. His Spiritual Power swirled around him as two footprints appeared on the ground. Like a flash of lightning, he charged towards Yu Daiwei.
His cultivation was revealed when he made a move.
“Divine Ocean Realm!” Yu Daiwei was astounded. She was just thinking that even if Lu Ye’s cultivation had improved in the past two years, he wouldn’t be too powerful. It wasn’t until now that she realised he had made it to the Divine Ocean Realm.
[His cultivation has improved so quickly! It’s no wonder the Lord has said he bears great luck with him. He indeed can do things that others can’t.]
While she was shocked, their gap had shortened by several kilometres in a moment.
Yu Daiwei lifted her hand and cast an abstruse spell. Lu Ye had figured that she was a Spell Cultivator, so he decided to pounce on her.
A Spell Cultivator’s attacks could move across a long distance, whereas a Combat Cultivator had to be in close-quarters combat, so distance was important in a battle between the two. If a Combat Cultivator couldn’t shorten the gap, he wouldn’t pose a threat to the Spell Cultivator. However, if the distance was short enough, the Spell Cultivator would be in an awkward situation.
The spell soon reached Lu Ye, but he quickly dodged it. Naturally, a spell cast by a powerful Spell Cultivator like Yu Daiwei couldn’t be avoided easily.
A Spell Cultivator’s spells, just like telekinetic weapons, could be controlled after they were cast.
Even if the other party managed to avoid the spell, the Spell Cultivator must have deliberately let it happen.
Spell Cultivators below the Divine Ocean Realm hadn’t grasped how to fully control their spells. But once they ascended to the Divine Ocean Realm and developed Divine Egos, their powers would be changed fundamentally.
Yu Daiwei had no idea how Lu Ye could make it to the Divine Ocean Realm in such a short time, but he was only in the First Order with little experience of fighting opponents in the same Realm. He didn’t know how dangerous it was to contend with other Divine Ocean Realm Masters.
After Lu Ye avoided the spell, it turned around and came after him from behind. In the meantime, Yu Daiwei cast another spell, causing Lu Ye to have to deal with two spells in two different directions.
Yu Daiwei was smug deep within. [Let me teach you a lesson, you little arrogant brat.]
Certainly, she never fully activated her power. She only used around 40 per cent of her power. She believed it was sufficient to capture Lu Ye as she had to reserve some energy to prevent any potential ambush.
For this reason, she had gotten a defensive Spirit Treasure ready to deal with the hidden Ghost Cultivator.
She was flabbergasted the next second because Lu Ye had no intention of dodging the second spell. He slashed at the spell, and the Spiritual Power within it exploded with a boom.
He shot through the spell unscathed and continued to charge forward without slowing down. In the blink of an eye, the distance between them had shortened by one kilometre.
Sensing the man’s ferocity and aggression, Yu Daiwei lifted her hands again and cast a series of spells.
Faced with the myriad of spells, Lu Ye tackled them head-on and ceaselessly wielded his saber.
As the Saber Lights flickered, all the spells were destroyed. The distance between them was shortening fast.
Yu Daiwei’s expression changed, for she finally realised she had underestimated Lu Ye’s power.
Supposedly, considering the huge gap between their powers, her spells were good enough to put Lu Ye in a difficult situation. However, Lu Ye showcased a power that was far greater than his Minor Realm. All her spells were destroyed by the saber in his hands.
Even though she never fully activated her power, the series of attacks were powerful enough to deal with an average Divine Ocean Realm Master. However, Lu Ye remained unfazed.
[What kind of a freak is he?]
Although there was a huge gap between their powers, Yu Daiwei wouldn’t dare to let Lu Ye get closer to her. She was only a Spell Cultivator with a frail body. If a Combat Cultivator got close to her, it would be life-threatening for her even though she was significantly more powerful.
Also, Lu Ye had showcased some horrifying aggression ever since he made the first move. She could imagine that once he managed to get close to her, she would face a storm of attacks.
She couldn’t help but use more power. Lu Ye finally slowed down as the spells he had to deal with were the biggest resistance to him.
Now, he was only a kilometre away from Yu Daiwei.
Given the distance, he naturally could use spells to attack her as he knew all sorts of Blood Secret Techniques, but that would be pointless.
Although he could use many Blood Secret Techniques, he had never studied them deeply. As such, he had no idea how well he could use them. He would be brainless if he used his shortcomings to deal with what she was adept at.
The only thing he had to do was get close to her.
On the other hand, Yu Daiwei was astonished deep within because she realised it might be true that Lu Ye had killed Zhang Song.
Considering the power Lu Ye had showcased, he was indeed able to kill Zhang Song, but that wasn’t his limit.
In that case, there was probably no ambush or a powerful Ghost Cultivator around here. It had been a false alarm all this while.
Upon that realisation, she was furious. Previously, she could easily capture Lu Ye, and he was powerless to counterattack. In just two years, such an easy target had grown into someone she found hard to deal with.
She increasingly exerted more force until she had to use 70 per cent of her power. Only then did she finally stop Lu Ye from charging forward.
She let out a sigh, for it had been tough for her. She needed to use 70 per cent of her power to deal with a First-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master. No one would believe her if she decided to share the tale.
But such an inconceivable incident happened right before her eyes, and she was the one experiencing it.
Her admiration for the Lord increased. Only someone like Lu Ye could assist the Lord in achieving his goal. Nevertheless, she knew Lu Ye was hot-tempered. It wouldn’t be easy for the Lord to make such a man submit to him.
As many thoughts turned over in her mind, Lu Ye was alternating between charging forward and moving backwards amid the storm of spells.
He charged forward because he had to get close to her, whereas he moved backwards because he didn’t have a choice. Despite what he had been doing, he was unable to shorten the distance between the two of them.
He had no idea how much of her power Yu Daiwei had used, but it was supposedly not her all. This was the best he could do when dealing with a powerful Spell Cultivator in the Divine Ocean Realm.
There was a distance of around 500 metres between them. His expression had always remained calm, which was in stark contrast to his ferocity and aggression.
He had a lot of experience in battling with Spell Cultivators. Of the more than 70 Seniors in Blood Refinement Boundary, many of them were Spell Cultivators, including Yue Ji. Therefore, he knew fully well how to deal with a Spell Cultivator’s attacks.
If Zhang Song was like an ordinary dog, then Yu Daiwei was a hound. They were not comparable to a tiger like Yue Ji.
Lu Ye was always beaten up by Yue Ji because there was a huge gap between their powers, but after months of training, he had become resilient enough to bear immense pressure.
In his heart, a drop of blood essence exploded. He was immediately covered in a layer of Blood Mist. From afar, he seemed to have turned into a bloodied man.
On his chest was Bloodrage which he had quickly weaved. It was soon activated. His already ferocious aura surged, and even the space around him started contorting.
The deadlock was finally shattered as he dashed forward while the Saber Lights flickered.
Yu Daiwei exclaimed. She was still shocked by the power Lu Ye had showcased when such a turn of events took place. Not daring to hold back her power any longer, she fully activated her power and made her storm of spells denser.
She had used all of her power, but it was too late. It was because Lu Ye had flared up too suddenly, so she was caught off guard.
Lu Ye moved across 500 metres in the blink of an eye. Along the way, all the spells exploded. When the Saber Light was about to reach her, Yu Daiwei hesitated no more and activated the defensive Spirit Treasure she had prepared in advance to deal with the Ghost Cultivator she thought was there.
An oval protective barrier appeared and fended off the Inviolable Saber.
With a boom, her Spiritual Power descended into chaos, and Yu Daiwei felt pain in her eardrums. While staggering, she saw that Lu Ye was ready to strike again. Without hesitation, she cast a Soul Secret Technique at Lu Ye.
She didn’t want to use a Soul Secret Technique as she didn’t come all the way here to kill him. She was supposed to obey the Lord’s order and capture Lu Ye.
When she used the moves of a Spell Cultivator, there was room for manoeuvre, and she could perfectly control her spells. But if she used a Soul Secret Technique, there were too many uncertainties.
If she accidentally hurt Lu Ye’s Divine Soul, causing him to be dull-witted and affecting his foundation, she couldn’t explain herself to the Lord even if she managed to capture Lu Ye.
But things weren’t going to plan, and she had instinctively counterattacked by using a Soul Secret Technique.
As soon as she did that, she knew she had screwed things up, so she quickly retracted some of her power.
Meanwhile, Lu Ye seemed able to see an invisible blade jabbing right into his Divine Soul, and then nothing happened.
His Divine Ocean undulated slightly, and he felt a bit of pain, but that didn’t affect him much. The Soul Soothing Tower soon suppressed it.
When he brought down his saber, he was warded off by the defensive Spirit Treasure around Yu Daiwei. He seemed to have struck a pile of cotton, causing no damage to the other party.
Following that, he felt an immense force sweeping over him. Although he had held up his saber to fend it off, he was still sent flying away.
