The forest remained quiet.

Kael turned the silver ring over in his hand.

"So we can't use it."

She looked at the ring again.

"Even an empty storage ring is worth a fortune."

Kael's eyes widened slightly.

"A fortune?"

She nodded.

"They're incredibly difficult to make."

"Most Bronze Rank hunters will never even see one."

She tossed the ring back to him.

"You keep it."

Kael blinked.

"You're giving it to me?"

"You earned it."

"You weakened him."

"You created the opening."

"And without you..."

She smiled.

"I wouldn't have survived."

Kael looked down at the ring.

"I don't think that's fair."

She laughed softly.

"It isn't."

"Which is why you'll owe me later."

He looked up.

"...That's your condition?"

"For now."

Kael chuckled.

"I was expecting something more serious."

"Oh, don't worry."

Her grin widened just enough to make him uneasy.

"I'll think of something."

Kael sighed.

"I walked right into that one."

"You did."

She turned and resumed walking.

"Come on."

"We've spent enough time here."

Kael slipped the ring into his pocket and followed.
