I ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED A DUNGEON

Chapter 85: To let you know, I am not into guys.

Hakimi held Felix by the collar, fingers tightening around his shirt’s neck, gaze piercing into Felix’s eyes "You have no shame, do you? I can’t even imagine what went through your head, deciding to come here after putting her through something like that. You should be laying dead inside that cave."

Felix stayed silent for a moment, his heartbeat climbing fast in his chest, throat tight.

Silent, Felix’s heart was racing wildly in his chest, and his throat was constricted with fear. "I know. I know better than you do."

He forced the words out slowly, "And I’m sorry. But I know that word means absolutely nothing right now. I’m not going to call it a mistake. I’m not going to call it an accident. I’m not going to call it an accident either. Every bit of it was my fault. I took her in there with me, knowing—"

"You know." Hakimi’s voice cut sharp through the air. "Then why are you even standing here right now? You couldn’t protect yourself in there. You can’t even take responsibility for what you did."

He hauled Felix closer, close enough that Felix could feel the heat of his breath. "Do you even understand what you actually are? A pathetic, lousy joke of a man who thinks a few clever lines and a smug grin get him out of anything. And this isn’t the first time either. The ruckus you made by burning the death forest. The one who killed the serpent, was also not you. It was her. Every single time, it’s her, and you never learn a damn thing from it.I wish I could kill you right now. I genuinely do."

His grip tightened further, and shoved Felix hard against the wall, pinning him there. "Don’t you ever forget that. The only reason you’re still breathing right now is because she needs you alive."

Felix was silent again, as those words settled within him harder than any physical impact would. Hakimi was right, and that was what hurt the most.

Felix believed that he knew how serious his actions were, how much danger he constantly put her in, but somehow he had convinced himself that things would be able to return to normal afterwards. Perhaps that was because Dune never questioned him. She never said anything to him, never yelled at him, never fought back despite whatever he had asked her to do. Without even knowing, he had begun to treat her not as a person, but as something which he could use and rely on without any consequences, a tool that never gave him any trouble. He thought that she would always forgive him, that she would always come back to him, no matter what. After all, they’re bound together in a marriage ritual.

"I just want to see her." That was all he could manage to say.

"You can’t." Hakimi replied sharply, leaving no room left for argument. "She’s doing just fine without you."

"But I want to." Felix pushed the words out, meeting his gaze despite everything. "I need to see it for myself."

"And why," Hakimi’s voice turned cold, "would I ever let you do that?"

"You have to." Felix grabbed Hakimi’s wrist and shoved it back off his collar. "She’s my wife. I have a right to see her."

Hakimi’s frown deepened slightly. "That’s all you’ve got in your defense?"

"I—" Felix fumbled for words. "Yes."

Hakimi released his grip and let out a slow breath, clearly aware there was no version of this where he kept them apart forever. "Fine."

"You have my thanks." Felix said, already turning to head toward the palace.

"I don’t need any of your thank yous." Hakimi pulled him back by his shoulder before he could take another step forward. "I have a task for you. Do that first, then maybe I’ll allow you to see her once."

"A task?" Felix blinked, momentarily dazed. "Well, I’m not really in the position where I can accept anything at the moment."

"You don’t have a choice."

"Right, sure. I don’t." Felix nodded. "Okay, go ahead and tell me everything."

Hakimi looked around and lowered his voice, "give me your ear."

"I’ve got two ears, and there’s nobody around for a hundred feet. Just say it."

Hakimi took him by the shoulders and pinned him to the wall, leaning in closer.

Felix tensed up. "To let you know, I am not into guys."

"I am not attracted to you either." Hakimi paid no attention whatsoever and told him everything he needed to know as quickly and clearly as he could, then moved back a little.

Felix gaped at him. "Are all those things true? Really didn’t expect anything like that out of you, honestly."

"They are rumors. Pure and simple." Hakimi gritted his teeth. "There’s someone who is trying to ruin my reputation and taking Lady Diana down along with me."

Felix was silent for a bit, then nodded. "Yeah, that’s some serious stuff. I’ll do what I can about that."

"Great." Hakimi moved aside, gesturing to the gate. "Now start going."

"What about my advance?" Felix offered a smile.

"I’ll make you an advance."

"No, that won’t be necessary." Felix waved his hand dismissively. "See you later.

"I have one more question." Hakimi uncrossed his arms. "Who placed the restriction seal on her?"

"Leto. The physician." Felix ran a hand up behind his neck and through his hair. "Remember, I told you that he spent a few days with us some time ago? Well, apparently he had seen cracks like hers before somewhere in the capital, years ago. And he knew how to stop the threat before it exploded out of her, because without the seal her body would’ve exploded from overflowing with Numen and nowhere for it to go. He also mentioned that it could be removed if anyone had sufficient mastery over their own Numen to direct it directly into her core and remove it. Now, did any of that sound strange to you? Because, honestly, the man was bizarre from beginning to end."

"No." Hakimi shook his head slowly. "The seal is very well crafted. Even with what her body had to endure, her Numen flow remained stable throughout. However, that isn’t the most basic thing, whoever designed it is operating at a whole different level from anything I’ve ever encountered."

"So there isn’t actually anything wrong with it, then?"

"There is no danger to her from it, no. But it is restricting her output far more than you think. And it is completely shutting down her self-healing ability." Hakimi pressed his teeth together briefly. "And you cannot undo it as he suggested. There is no way whatsoever for an outsider to channel anything into her core; the seal itself prevents it."

"So you’re telling me that there is nothing I can do about it."

"Yes." Hakimi nodded once. "Until she masters her own Numen output, the seal will remain as it is. Forever, if that never happens. Although let me make something clear – it does not hurt her in any way as long as it remains."

"That son of a bitch." Felix clenched his fists tightly at his sides. "He lied to me right to my face, and I just swallowed it."

Hakimi looked at him for a moment longer, then turned back toward the palace. "This concludes our discussion. You may leave now."
