I Am Already A Queen

Chapter 110: Going To Her Grandparents’ House

Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Going To Her Grandparents’ House

Meanwhile, inside her newly renovated suite, Qiao Meixia took a quick, fifteen-minute shower before sitting down at her desk. She unclipped the covert micro-camera and connected it directly to her encrypted laptop via a high-speed data transfer cable.

The recorded media file loaded instantly. Thanks to the ultra-high-definition lens she had installed, the video playback was crystal clear.

The dark sedan had initiated its tailing manoeuvre the second she had halted at a busy downtown traffic light. The vehicle itself was a high-end luxury sedan, a brand far too expensive for ordinary citizens. However, Qiao Meixia’s primary objective was to capture the front license plate.

Framing the shot, she isolated the numerical sequence and ran the license plate through her private, black-market database query tool.

A match pinged back within seconds. However, the registered specs on file were completely mismatched. The system logged the plate under a domestic compact vehicle, not a high-end luxury sedan.

A cloned plate.

Recognising that the plate was a dead end, Qiao Meixia dragged the video scrubber backwards, attempting to enhance the optical reflection on the sedan’s windshield to catch a glimpse of the driver.

Unfortunately, the vehicle was outfitted with military-grade privacy film. The glass was so heavily tinted that no external light could penetrate the interior, rendering the occupants completely invisible on screen.

Qiao Meixia let out a soft, low sigh.

Since her current clues had hit a temporary wall, she smoothly closed the program. She would simply remain patient and wait for these shadowy figures to make their next move.

Closing her laptop screen, she turned off the lights and fell into a deep sleep.

...

The following morning marked the weekend, bringing a brief respite from classes at Hannan First High.

Qiao Meixia had just woken up when her phone began to vibrate rhythmically across the nightstand. She reached out and glanced at the caller ID, noting a string of encrypted, unlisted numbers displayed across the screen.

Despite not recognising the caller, her fingers casually swiped the screen to connect the line.

"My dear child, are you awake yet?" A warm, regal voice of an elderly woman echoed clearly through the speaker.

"Huh?" Qiao Meixia responded faintly, her voice still laced with sleepiness.

"Did Grandma wake you up from your sleep?" The old lady asked softly.

"Who is this?" Qiao Meixia inquired directly.

"Silly girl, it’s your Grandma." Old Madam Jiang announced with a gentle laugh.

"Oh... Grandma..." Qiao Meixia offered a soft apology. "My apologies, I did not recognise the incoming number."

"It’s quite alright, dear child! It’s the weekend now, isn’t it?" Old Madam Jiang paused for a brief moment, her tone turning deeply affectionate. "Why don’t you pack a small bag and come over to Grandma’s estate to stay overnight? I would love nothing more than to spend some quality time with my sweet granddaughter."

Hearing the genuine warmth radiating from the old matriarch’s voice, Qiao Meixia knew she couldn’t bring herself to decline the request.

"Alright." Qiao Meixia agreed calmly. "I will arrive at lunch."

"Wonderful! Wonderful!" Old Madam Jiang chuckled with unbridled joy. "Grandma will have the kitchen prepare all your favourite dishes and await your arrival!"

The call ended on that note. Qiao Meixia slipped out of bed and walked over to the bathroom to freshen up. The clock on her nightstand already read seven in the morning. She changed into a dark, comfortable set of athletic wear, deciding to go for a brisk morning run.

As she stepped out through the main entrance, Butler Jun spotted her from the foyer. He offered a polite bow and inquired softly about her destination.

"Going for a jog." Qiao Meixia replied casually, picking up her pace without waiting for a response.

Butler Jun stood silently, watching her slender figure disappear around the curved driveway. Despite it being the weekend, Qiao Meixia maintained a strict, early-morning discipline. It stood in stark, glaring contrast to Jiang Yanna and Jiang Chinan, who habitually lazed in bed until ten in the morning on non-school days. He let out a quiet sigh before smoothing his expression and returning to his daily duties.

Qiao Meixia completed a wide loop around the sprawling estate grounds. An hour later, she glided back through the front doors, a light layer of sweat glistening on her skin. Just as she crossed the main hall, she ran straight into Feng Lan.

Feng Lan’s brows furrowed instantly at the sight of her.

"What are you doing running around looking like that?" Feng Lan asked, her tone naturally laced with sharp scrutiny.

"Jogging." Qiao Meixia deadpanned.

Without giving Feng Lan a chance to launch into a full lecture, she darted past her and ascended the grand marble staircase with effortless speed.

Feng Lan, who had opened her mouth to issue another reprimand, was left standing dumbfounded in the foyer. The girl had moved so fast it almost seemed as if she had evaporated into thin air.

Reaching her private room, Qiao Meixia took a quick, fifteen-minute shower. Once dried and dressed in a fresh set of clothes, she stepped back out into the hallway and headed down to the formal dining room. The grand table was completely empty, with no breakfast laid out.

Seeing no reason to linger, Qiao Meixia decided to grab a quick bite on her way to the Jiang Ancestral Residence. She could easily stop by a convenience store along the highway to tide herself over. She headed straight for the garage, mounted her dark purple superbike, secured her helmet, and fired up the V4 engine. After giving the throttle a couple of deep, resonant revs, she zoomed down the private driveway.

The main gate security guards made no attempt to delay her. The moment they heard the high-displacement engine roaring in the distance, they parted the heavy iron gates to give her a clear exit.

By normal car standards, the journey to the secluded Jiang Ancestral Residence took at least three full hours. For Qiao Meixia on her modified machine, however, that time was easily cut in half. She would arrive within an hour and a half at most.

True to her plan, she pulled over at a gas station convenience store along the suburban border. As she brought the superbike to a halt, several men standing near the storefront turned their heads, gaping in sheer disbelief that the rider commanding such a terrifying piece of machinery was a young, slender woman.

Ignoring their lingering stares, Qiao Meixia stepped inside, grabbed a couple of fresh salmon onigiri and a bottle of fruit juice, and checked out at the counter. When she stepped back outside into the sunlight, her eyes narrowed. The group of men had completely surrounded her superbike, and one particularly reckless individual was already swinging his leg over the saddle to sit on it.

"Hey. Step back." Qiao Meixia’s cool voice sliced through the air from behind them.

The men jumped slightly at the sudden interruption, but upon seeing a young high school girl standing before them, their postures instantly relaxed into sleazy arrogance.

"Take it easy, sweetheart." One of the men sneered, leaning against the frame. "We are just taking a look at your ride."

"Get off my bike right now." Qiao Meixia repeated, her tone dropping several degrees.

Rather than listening, the men chuckled mockingly among themselves.

"Look, little girl, a machine like this is not meant for a delicate thing like you." The man on the bike taunted, running a hand over the tank. "It’s way too heavy. What if you lose control and hurt yourself? Why don’t you let—"

Before the man could finish his sentence, Qiao Meixia stepped forward like a shadow. Reaching out with a single, lightning-fast arm, she grabbed him firmly by the collar of his jacket and lifted him clean off the saddle, hurling him onto the hard asphalt like a sack of trash.

"You crazy bitch!" The remaining men shouted in rage, stepping forward aggressively to surround her.

"Try me." Qiao Meixia said simply.

She stared them down with an icy, unblinking expression. The sheer, predatory stillness radiating from her sent an instinctual wave of dread through the group.

Unconsciously, the men froze mid-step, their bravado evaporating as they shuffled backwards. Something about her deadpan glare told them that stepping any closer would result in broken bones.

Seeing that they had backed off, Qiao Meixia smoothly mounted her superbike, strapped on her helmet, and engaged the clutch. With a thunderous roar that echoed off the storefront glass, she shot out of the parking lot, leaving the stunned group choking on her exhaust.

As Qiao Meixia merged onto the scenic highway leading toward the hills, her sharp peripheral vision picked up a vehicle matching her speed in the left lane.
