I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means

Chapter 1901 - 1025: The True Mastermind? (Part 2)

Chapter 1901: Chapter 1025: The True Mastermind? (Part 2)

"What do you want to know?"

Mistra hesitated for a moment and said somewhat self-deprecatingly.

If she were still the former [Magic Net Goddess], she might never have compromised with Lis.

But she wasn’t that anymore; although she inherited Mistra’s name, she actually knew very little.

Born in the destroyed Orophin Floating City, she had long had enough.

From the memories of the [Magic Net Goddess], Mistra could connect to the vast and splendid beauty of the Gaia World.

She no longer wished to stay in this sealed and shattered Floating City.

Otherwise, with the [Magic] Divine Position and remaining Divine Power, there was a chance she could defeat Lis head-on.

Why else would she plan so much, even giving up the [Magic] Divine Position just to leave here?

Lis raised an eyebrow at this.

This... is quite cooperative?

Interesting!

"First, tell me about your current status. Who is the other consciousness in your body?"

"This... isn’t..."

At this moment, Mistra seemed a bit confused, her words disordered.

There was no absolute distinction between the two consciousnesses; the other consciousness could also compete for control of the body?

Lis observed Mistra’s current state with some curiosity.

"I... I don’t know either."

Mistra caught her breath, rubbed her forehead, and looked at Lis, saying:

"I don’t know who he really is; he’s been in my body ever since I woke up."

"He tells me his name is Valentine, but beyond that, he won’t tell me anything about himself."

"His consciousness isn’t strong, but it’s clearer than mine. Sometimes he’d talk to me about the outside world."

"The previous... feigned death plan was something he worked on with me."

After speaking, a trace of disgust flashed across Mistra’s face.

"Since his birth, I’ve felt his malice, and I instinctively feel revulsion toward him; this seems to stem from the memories and power I’ve inherited."

"He likely is one of the deities that led to my predecessor’s downfall, though I truly don’t know who he is."

Indeed interesting.

Lis nodded slightly upon hearing this.

It seems now that this little "Mistra," apart from herself, didn’t have any overly special circumstances.

He could tell Mistra wasn’t lying.

So, the key lay in that consciousness.

Based on what Lis heard before, the other consciousness seemed to want to guide Mistra to find its essence, but was rejected by Mistra.

That means its main body should still exist.

"How were you able to become Divine Calamity and survive in the end?"

Lis asked the Mistra in front of him.

Lis wasn’t concerned about Mistra’s feigned death plan; he had roughly guessed the specifics.

However, he was curious about how Mistra managed to achieve this.

After all, the process of transforming into Divine Calamity is irreversible.

If Mistra truly transformed into Divine Calamity, how did she recover?

This was something that no one had ever achieved before.

"Valentine taught me."

Mistra said quite frankly.

"In my body, it wasn’t just his consciousness; there was another consciousness, though this consciousness was nearly shattered and couldn’t communicate."

"Valentine had me separate this consciousness and use the Miserla’s Core of the Floating City as the core, temporarily storing the majority of my Divine Power there."

"At the pivotal moment, all I had to do was pretend to be out of control while hiding myself using prior preparations."

There’s such a maneuver?

Lis was somewhat surprised, but this indeed made sense, and the disguise was quite thorough.

If he hadn’t noticed something amiss earlier, like Mistra’s madness being too direct or the disappearance of Miserla’s Core, Mistra might have succeeded.

"Lis"

"Let me speak with this Valentine."

Lis contemplated for a moment and looked at Mistra.

"Alright."

Mistra didn’t think too much of it.

Having lost the [Magic] Divine Position and the vast majority of her Strength, she truly felt a bit rattled facing Lis.

Letting Valentine out might be better—perhaps, with his ability, he could convince this Arcanist before him.

"Hello, young and powerful Arcanist."

A moment later, Mistra looked at Lis and spoke.

"You are Valentine?"

Lis looked at the suddenly changed Mistra, who gave him an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

"I am."

Valentine nodded without the slightest arrogance of a Divine.

"Is there anything you want to tell me?"

Lis smiled as he looked at Valentine.

"Though I wish for you to let us go, it seems almost impossible now."

Valentine sighed.

"Then answer my question."

Lis stared at Valentine and directly asked:

"Mistra wants to leave here, even at the cost of giving up the [Magic] Divine Position."

"But why would you choose to help her?"

"You presumably played a part in the downfall of the [Magic Net Goddess], or at least are a Divine of Medium Divine Power or above."

"To you, the [Magic] Divine Position should be crucial, even if you are one of Powerful Divine Power."

"Otherwise, you would have no reason to get involved in this event."

"Yet you helped Mistra, at the price of losing the [Magic] Divine Position, to leave here."

"This contradicts your purpose."

"Perhaps, it’s not that complicated?"

Valentine smiled at Lis, saying:

"Even though I’m just an avatar of the main consciousness, after countless years, I’ve become autonomous and want to leave here for freedom."

"Then you would not likely guide Mistra to find your main body. What Divine would allow an avatar beyond their control to exist?"

"Are you trying to deceive me?"

Lis looked at Valentine and said:

"You have not developed as an autonomous avatar; you are the Divine consciousness itself, merely unable to align with the main body’s consciousness in the Dream Realm."

"I think there are two possibilities: either you plan to inform the main body of the situation here after leaving."

"Then have the main body take action to seize the [Magic] Divine Position."

"But this possibility is quite small."

"You’ve witnessed my Strength. As long as I don’t leave the Gaia Main World, not even a Powerful Divine Power can take the [Magic] Divine Position from me."

"So, there’s only the second possibility."

"Your goal is not the [Magic] Divine Position but some other existence."

"To achieve this goal, you must return to the main body."

"What could it be?"

Lis scrutinized Valentine; Valentine smiled at Lis, seemingly interested in his deductive process.

"You persuade Mistra to abandon power just to leave here."

"In other words, your goal isn’t Divine Position and Divine Power."

"It’s either the newly birthed consciousness of Mistra or this symbol of your return to the main body."

"Perhaps it is both."

"Or it’s a ritual, now only lacking your personal return?"

Lis suddenly raised his head and looked at Valentine, saying:

"Is your goal Mistra’s downfall?"

"Hunting or scheming the downfall of a Powerful Divine Power to meet the requirements for your Divine Position’s metamorphosis?"

"It’s... astonishing!"

Lis looked at the unmoved Valentine, feeling he had grasped the key.

"So you’re willing to forsake everything just for the return of this consciousness. If you can take Mistra with you, all the better."

"Planning this for countless years, and yet not having fallen; you are surely a Powerful Divine Power now, right?"

"Among the current Powerful Divine Power..."

"Are you Shirek?"
