Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Dominance

The frozen water barrier shattered around Clara like glass. Ice shards sprayed past her, catching the stadium lights and scattering tiny rainbows across the arena floor. She didn’t slow down.

The earthen-armored student hit the ground hard, bouncing once, skidding through dirt and scattered rocks. He tried to push himself up, but his armor was gone — shattered into useless rubble. His arms trembled.

Clara was already above him.

She dropped from the air, Psychokinesis amplifying her descent. Her knee drove into his chest.

BOOM.

The ground cratered beneath them. A shockwave rippled outward, cracking the earth in a spiderweb pattern. The student’s mouth flew open — no sound came out, just a wheeze as the air was punched out of his lungs.

He grabbed Clara’s knee, trying to push her off. She grabbed his wrist. Ice spread from her fingers, crawling up his arm, freezing joint after joint.

Ryan, I need a path to the boundary, Clara thought.

Already on it.

The ground beneath the struggling student shifted. Ice spread outward from Ryan’s position — not attacking, just reshaping. The terrain sloped. The student’s body slid — slowly at first, then faster — toward the arena edge.

He clawed at the ground, fingers scraping against ice and rock. "No — no no no —Come on, you’re the mid Core realm and I’m just at the early Core realm"

Clara planted her foot on his chest and pushed as she smirked and says, "And I don’t care."

He slid faster

He grabbed a boulder. His fingers held for a moment.

Clara flicked her wrist. An ice spike erupted from the boulder, shattering it.

The student’s eyes went wide as he crossed the boundary line.

A tone sounded across the stadium — crisp, clear.

"Southern Kiwi Academy — one eliminated."

The crowd erupted. Cheers mixed with boos from the New Zealand supporters section.

Clara stood at the edge, dusting ice off her gloves. Her expression hadn’t changed.

Four remaining, Ryan noted through the link. Amira, keep the fire user suppressed. Julian, hold position with Elara. Clara, circle back toward Julian.

On the far side of the arena, Julian Renard was having a miserable time.

Julian Renard was annoyed.

He stood near the back of the EASA formation, lightning crackling between his fingers, while Elara Vance crouched behind a boulder ten meters away. His job was simple — protect the healer. Stay back. Don’t overextend.

He hated it.

"You’re not even fighting," the beast morph student taunted. He was a stocky Maori kid with tribal tattoos crawling up his neck and arms. His body was already shifting — muscles bulging, bones cracking, skin thickening into a leathery hide. Claws extended from his fingertips. "Just standing there with your little sparks."

"Little sparks?" Julian’s eye twitched.

A second student stepped up beside the beast morph — lean, wiry, with a grin. His feet were planted firm on the ground, and the earth around him trembled slightly.

"Tectonic shock," the wiry guy said. "I can send vibrations through the ground. Your little ice friend over there won’t help you if I collapse the floor beneath you."

The beast morph student — a stocky Maori kid with tribal tattoos crawling up his neck — had fully transformed. His body had bulked up by half, muscles swelling beneath thick leathery skin. Claws extended from his fingertips. His jaw had extended slightly, teeth sharpening into fangs.

He charged.

Julian fired a lightning bolt. Zzt. It scorched the beast morph’s hide but didn’t stop him. The student tanked it and kept coming, claws swiping.

Julian dodged — barely. The claws raked across his chest, tearing his uniform. Three thin lines of blood appeared.

Green light washed over him from behind a boulder. Elara’s healing. The wounds closed in seconds.

"Thanks," Julian muttered.

The tectonic shock student struck from range. Crack. The ground beneath Julian’s feet exploded upward. He leaped, landed on unstable earth, and immediately had to dodge again as the beast morph lunged.

Ryan, I need help. These two are coordinating. I can’t pin either of them down. The beast guy tanks everything and the ground guy keeps disrupting my footing.

Working on it. Thirty seconds. Don’t get eliminated.

"Very helpful, brat" Julian spat.

He fired lightning bolts in rapid succession. Zzt. Zzt. Zzt. Each one hit the beast morph, each one was healed through or shrugged off. The transformed student was a tank — not fast enough to catch Julian cleanly, but too tough to put down.

The tectonic shock student grinned and stomped. Crack. The ground fractured in a line toward Julian. He jumped, but the shockwave caught his ankle, spinning him midair.

The beast morph’s fist met him as he landed.

Boom.

Julian slammed into a boulder. His back screamed. Blood sprayed from his lip.

Green light again. Elara’s healing washed over him. The pain faded. The damage repaired.

"Stop getting hit," Elara hissed from behind her cover.

"Great advice," Julian snarled, pushing off the boulder. Lightning crackled around both his hands. "Any other gems?"

The beast morph’s attacked him again as he jumped onto a boulder and kicked him in the face.

Smack.

The beast morph’s head snapped back. He fell — then caught himself on the boulder’s edge and pulled himself up again with a snarl.

"You kick like a girl," the beast morph growled.

"Your face says otherwise."

Zzt. Another lightning bolt to the chest. The beast morph roared and swiped.

Julian dodged. The boulder exploded behind him — the tectonic guy had hit it from range.

This is fucking annoying.

Ryan Duncan was locked in a war of attrition with the water user.

She was good. Better than he’d expected for an Early Core Realm cultivator. Her water tendrils came from every angle — whipping, slashing, trying to find gaps in his ice armor. Afterall, there was a water source beside her. Each tendril that hit froze on contact, adding layers to his suit rather than damaging it.

But she was adapting too. She’d stopped trying to break his armor directly. Instead, she was aiming for his joints — the gaps between panels, the hinges at his elbows and knees. Every time a tendril slipped through a gap, ice reformed, but it cost him mana to maintain.

Ryan observing the girl’s tendrils saw that it had a maximum density — push past it and her control destabilized. He calculated the exact point.

Ryan stopped retreating.

He charged directly at her.

The water girl’s eyes widened. She’d been pushing him backward for two minutes — his sudden reversal caught her off guard. She threw six tendrils at once, each one aimed at a different joint.

Ryan’s armor shifted. Panels interlocked. Gaps sealed. The tendrils hit ice and froze uselessly.

He closed the distance quickly.

The girl panicked. She pulled all her remaining water into a single massive fist — a condensed sphere of pressurized water the size of a boulder — and hurled it at him.

Ryan didn’t dodge.

He raised both arms. His armor’s chest plate opened wide, and he fired everything he had — not a beam this time, but a cone of absolute cold that spread outward like a shotgun blast.

The water fist hit the cold wave midair. It froze solid in an instant — a massive block of ice that dropped to the ground with a thunderous crash.

The girl staggered. Her mana had just tanked from that failed attack. Ryan could see it in her wobbly stance — wobbly, uncertain.

He closed the last three meters and grabbed her by the throat with his ice-armored hand. Lifted her off the ground.

Her eyes went wide.

Ryan threw her.

She flew across the arena, limbs flailing, and crossed the boundary line.

A tone sounded.

"Southern Kiwi Academy — two eliminated."

The EASA section roared. Lucian watched from the stands, arms crossed, a faint smirk on his lips.

A/N: EASA, European All Star Academy.

Only Ryan, he thought, would build a suit of armor such a soffisticated suit.

Amira had been suppressing the fire user from a distance for the entire match. Sand walls. Sand blinds. Sand needles. She’d kept him cornered and frustrated, preventing him from getting a clean shot at anyone.

Now the fire user was desperate.

"This is bullshit!" he screamed. His hands blazed as he chanted a spell — a concentrated sphere of flame bloomed above his head, growing larger and larger. The heat warped the air around him. The ground beneath his feet turned red. "I’ll burn through everything!"

He launched the sphere.

Whoosh.

It was massive — three meters across, screaming through the air with enough heat to melt stone. Amira’s sand wall didn’t just block it — the fire punched straight through. Sand turned to glass on contact.

Amira dodged. The sphere crashed into the terrain behind her and exploded. BOOM. A smoldering crater marked the impact point.

That took at least fifteen percent of his mana, Amira thought. He’s running on fumes now after continuously throwing fire balls.

She pressed forward. Sand swirled around her body like a cloak. The fire user launched smaller attacks — fire bolts, fire whips, a sweeping cone of flame.

Amira weaved through them. Sand deflected what she couldn’t dodge. She closed the distance.

The fire user tried to form another large sphere. His hands flickered. Not enough mana.

Amira raised both hands. The sand around her compressed to form a spear two meters long, needle-sharp, glinting with concentrated pressure.

She threw it.

Whoosh.

The sand spear moved faster than sound. The fire user raised a wall of flame, but the spear punched through and hit him directly in the chest.

Pam.

He flew backward. His bracelet flashed — a shimmering blue shield materialized around his body an instant before the spear would have pierced his heart. The shield absorbed the impact. The sand spear shattered against it.

The tone sounded.

"Southern Kiwi Academy — three eliminated."

The fire user dropped to his knees, staring at his activated bracelet in disbelief.

Amira turned away without a second glance.

Two left, Ryan noted through the link. Julian, hold them for thirty more seconds. Clara and I are coming.

Julian, bleeding from a dozen shallow cuts, lightning crackling weakly around his fingers, looked at the two students still pressing him.

"Thirty more seconds," he muttered. "Sure, brat. I can see you are trying to get on my nerves."
