I Became a Peak Master With No Disciples?!

Chapter 148 - Demonic Ancestor Cornered

The Blood-Swallowing Pearl in his chest pulsed frantically. Dark crimson vitality flooded his muscles, swelling his body to over twelve feet tall as boiling blood oozed through his cracked skin.

Driven to madness by the destruction of his teleportation array, Demonic Ancestor Mo gathered every drop of stolen blood essence into his right fist.

The sky above the canyon darkened. A blood-red fist phantom expanded rapidly into the shape of an inverted mountain peak, casting a dark shadow over the entire valley.

"Heaven-Suppressing Fist, Ten Thousand Mountains Collapsing Heaven!"

The mountain-sized fist descended, compressing the air so violently that nearby stone crumbled into powder before the blow even landed.

Jian Wufeng stood directly beneath the descending strike. Looking into the titan’s bloodshot eyes, his mind flashed back three hundred years to the day Demonic Ancestor Mo slaughtered his senior brother, and to the tournament arena where he had raised his sword in their mockery.

An oppressive sword intent expanded from Jian Wufeng’s blade.

"You once pretended to understand this sword technique when you desecrated my senior brother’s memory," Jian Wufeng said softly. "Now, let me show you the true form of the Heaven-Sundering Sword Art."

"Heaven-Sundering Sword Technique, Nine Heavens Sundering Cleave!"

A single streak of silver light divided the canyon.

There was no thunderous boom, only the clean whisper of something being severed.

Demonic energy, blood Qi, and spatial laws cleaved open like paper.

The mountain-sized fist froze in mid-air. A hairline crack appeared across its center, and in the next breath, the colossal fist dissolved into red mist.

Demonic Ancestor Mo stood frozen. A thin red line ran from his brow, down his nose, and through his chest.

Crack.

The Blood-Swallowing Pearl snapped in half. Its dark vitality vanished like smoke, and the massive frame collapsed into grey ash that scattered across the rocks.

Jian Wufeng sheathed his sword with a crisp click, lifting the communication jade at his waist.

"Stronghold Seven is secured," Jian Wufeng said, his voice flat and steady. "Demonic vessel executed."

Along the rugged southern border dividing the Heavenly Cloud Sect and the Heavenly Sword Sect, Sect Master Jun Tianya’s Dragon-Bone War Ark parted the clouds.

Among the four Overlord Sects, relations between the Heavenly Cloud Sect and the Heavenly Sword Sect had always been a bit strained, rooted in millennia of quiet rivalry over sword and martial supremacy.

Below the cliffs, dozens of sword cultivators clad in silver robes were already locked in combat. Leading the vanguard was an elderly cultivator standing with his hands behind his back, guiding a storm of flying swords that tore through waves of stampeding beasts.

It was Second Sword Elder Han of the Heavenly Sword Sect.

Noticing the incoming group, Elder Han turned and offered a stiff, formal bow with cupped hands.

"Sect Master Jun," Elder Han greeted. "These demonic beasts suddenly fell into a violent frenzy and surged toward our perimeter. To prevent damage to our borders, we took action."

Jun Tianya gave a slight nod. His Saint divine sense swept through the valley, probing every cave, ravine, and subterranean leyline across a fifty-kilometer radius.

There were only mindless beasts and low-tier demon lords running wild. The core leader, the vessel holding Demonic Ancestor Mo’s soul, was nowhere to be found. It had abandoned the outpost and fled through a hidden array before he had arrived.

"We can handle the cleanup here," Elder Han added calmly, clearly not wishing for an outsider to linger near their territory. "It will serve as good sword tempering for our juniors."

"Then I leave this place in your hands," Jun Tianya replied.

Without another word, Jun Tianya turned into a streak of purple lightning and tore through the sky, channeling his voice straight into the transmission network.

***

Far away, above the dense forest of the Black Crow Ridge, the transmission jade at Peak Master Lei Zhenwu’s waist flared with golden light.

Beside him, Su Ming floated quietly in the cold wind. Arrayed behind them in disciplined lines were twenty elite Heavenly Cloud Sect elders in the Golden Core and Nascent Soul realms. Though Su Ming was the youngest of the peak masters, his place beside Lei Zhenwu as the vanguard’s second-in-command was naturally accepted by all.

"Stronghold Six secured," Peak Master Yan Qinghai’s voice came through the jade, laced with cold irritation, "but the demonic vessel in the body of Elder Yun Song fled like a fox. He detonated his remaining puppets and shattered the teleportation array upon escaping with his corpse puppet."

Moments later, Peak Master Jian Wufeng’s transmission followed.

"Stronghold Seven is secured. Demonic vessel executed."

Then, Sect Master Jun Tianya’s voice echoed through the jade.

"The leader of the fifth stronghold has also abandoned his post and fled. If Stronghold Eight at Black Crow Ridge is the only one remaining, exercise extreme caution. Do not act recklessly. I am already on my way. I want to see the last of them with my own eyes."

"Understood," Yan Qinghai and Jian Wufeng answered in unison. "Once our perimeters are cleared, we will meet at the eighth stronghold."

Lei Zhenwu lowered the jade and looked down. Below them lay Black Crow Ridge. To the naked eye and ordinary divine sense, it appeared as nothing more than a quiet, dense pine forest.

"I can sense an illusion array masking their presence," Lei Zhenwu muttered, his gaze tracking the faint ripples in the air.

Su Ming activated his Essence Sight.

A faint violet-gold glow washed over his pupils. In an instant, the peaceful forest vanished. Through his Essence Sight, a horrifying web of glowing crimson and pitch-black lines twisted through the bedrock like living veins.

"Wait," Su Ming said quietly. "There are other arrays."

Lei Zhenwu turned to him, his eyes narrowing. "What do you see?"

"Layered defensive barriers anchored hundreds of feet into the bedrock," Su Ming murmured, tracing the vast network of energy pathways. "The scale of this place is massive. Beneath the barriers is an active blood sacrificial pool and a corrosive mist formation. Thousands of demonic cultivators are stationed throughout the lower levels, with three or four powerful auras gathered in the central chamber."

His brow furrowed deeper as his vision pierced into the deepest formation nodes.

"Tens of thousands of hostages are suspended above the blood pool, their lifeforce nearly depleted," Su Ming added, his voice chilling. "And woven directly into the foundation is a destructive fail-safe. If we breach the array carelessly, the entire underground complex will detonate."
