“Quickly… everyone, get out of here! Evacuate the hospital wing now—go!” Bian Suwen’s voice trembled with urgency, her face contorted in pain as she struggled to speak through the searing burn spreading in her veins.

Doctor Xue’s expression shifted in an instant as the gravity of the situation dawned on him—he was nearly scared out of his wits. Bian Suwen’s decision to test the poison on herself had been well-intentioned, but due to her constant exposure to various medicinal compounds over the years, her blood had already taken on a medicinal nature.

The Blood Prison of Poisoned Feathers, already volatile, reacted abnormally the moment it fused with her blood. It skipped the normal incubation period and rushed straight to the brink of full eruption.

“Go!” Xue didn’t hesitate any longer. He yanked Lin Chen by the arm, flung the heavy door of the ICU open, and dashed out with him.

At that same moment, Wang Haoran stepped inside the room.

He had been standing just outside, unable to enter while the doors were sealed. But he had been observing through his  X-ray Vision and reading lips with lip-reading mastery. Everything they discussed, every diagnosis, every revelation—he heard it all.

Now that the door was momentarily open, he slipped inside.

“It’s dangerous in there! Don’t go in!” Xue tried to stop him, shouting in alarm.

But it was too late—the moment Wang Haoran entered, the heavy ICU door swung shut behind him and locked tight. Xue and Lin Chen tried to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge.

But Wang Haoran didn’t even flinch.

The Blood Prison of Poisoned Feathers might be lethal to others, but not to him. Not to someone whose blood had become an antidote in itself after mastering the Supreme Poison Scripture and cultivating the Immunity to All Poison constitution.

To him, curing the poison was trivial. But for someone like Bian Suwen—someone destined to be a female lead—letting her die was out of the question.

She shoved him, trying to push him back. “Get out! If you stay here, you’ll die too!”

Instead of backing away, Wang Haoran caught her hand. A bizarre and dramatic image flashed through his mind, as if straight out of some overly melodramatic love drama.

“I can’t go. If you die… what’s the point in me living?” he said in a low, serious voice.

The words made his own skin crawl, they were so corny. But the effect was immediate.

Bian Suwen’s expression froze, her eyes wide with surprise, then softened into deep sorrow. “I understand your feelings… but my fate is sealed. We weren’t destined to be. Leave… and forget me.”

“I’m not leaving. I can help—”

“There’s no time! Just go!” she cut him off urgently.

She could already feel the poison coursing through her bloodstream, dangerously close to full detonation. Her inner energy couldn’t suppress it any longer, and if she exploded…

She tried to force him out again.

But Wang Haoran didn’t waste time explaining. He bit down on the inside of his cheek, hard, until blood pooled in his mouth, the sharp tang of iron filling the air. Then, without a word, he stepped forward and closed the distance between them.

All Bian Suwen saw was his face drawing closer, closer, until her vision was completely filled with his eyes—steady, determined, and… strangely gentle.

She realized what he was about to do too late.

Her lips tasted blood. His blood.

He had kissed her, passing a sliver of his blood into her mouth.

She knew what this meant. Knew it wasn’t just a kiss—it was exposure. He would be infected by the poison too.

She pushed him away in a panic, horror twisting her expression. “You fool! You’d risk your life for me?! Is it worth it?” Her voice broke as two clear streams of tears rolled down her cheeks.

Wang Haoran didn’t say a word. In his mind, he was thinking: Of course my life’s precious. But giving you some blood to detoxify you? That’s not much at all.

Out loud, he simply said, “Don’t speak.”

He’d already done what needed to be done. His blood, containing antidotal properties, had already begun to neutralize the poison in her system. She just needed to stay still, and the poison would be fully purged soon.

There was no need to explain. It would only complicate things.

But those three words—“Don’t speak”—in Bian Suwen’s ears sounded like something a man says when facing death, when he wants to hold onto the final moment of silence with the person he loves.

And she was moved beyond reason.

Without any hesitation, without thinking about the poison or the danger, she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him back.

Wang Haoran was stunned for a moment and immediately tried to push her away.

Are you crazy?! I just got a cut on my lip from biting myself, and now you want to keep kissing? That stings, you know!

He was clearly reluctant, but Bian Suwen had already lost all her restraint. Her heart had broken past the point of restraint. In that moment, she didn’t care what happened—she just wanted to hold onto the man in front of her.

He became the passive one.

Even though his lip was still throbbing, the flood of system messages made him feel euphoric enough to ignore the pain completely.

He hadn’t expected her favorability to skyrocket to 90 in just a few minutes.

But thinking about it, it made sense. From her perspective, he had just risked his life for her. Willingly embraced death for her sake. In her eyes, it was the ultimate act of devotion.

How could she not be touched?

A minute later, the side effects of the poison overwhelmed her. Her consciousness faded and she passed out, collapsing into his arms.

But her condition was stable now. The antidote had already taken hold. It was only a matter of time before she was fully cured.

Wang Haoran silently disabled the security camera in the ICU and went on to treat the other three poisoned students the same way.

Only after he was done did he lay down and pretend to be unconscious.

In Bian Suwen’s eyes, he had sacrificed himself to save her.

There was no way he could let her find out the truth—that he was immune to poison and could cleanse it effortlessly. That would ruin the emotional impact and unravel everything.

So pretending to faint was the perfect move.

Outside the ICU, chaos was breaking out.

Qiu Qianwei, Ji Shuiyao, and Liu Yue were beside themselves with worry. Qiu Qianwei, especially, had all but lost her mind. After pressing Doctor Xue for information, she learned of the danger and was ready to risk everything to go in.

Doctor Xue, reluctant but convinced, secured protective gear from the hospital.

Fully suited up, Qiu Qianwei entered the ICU, examined the situation inside, and reported back to Xue.

From her descriptions, Doctor Xue could tell that Bian Suwen’s symptoms were subsiding. The poison hadn’t detonated.

He couldn’t believe it—but he had to confirm it himself. Carefully, he ventured in and saw for himself: not only had the poison been suppressed, but it was also visibly fading away.

Joy surged through him.

He quickly ordered that both Wang Haoran and Bian Suwen be placed in separate private recovery rooms.
