After sorting through his thoughts, a shadow of cold amusement flickered in Wang Haoran’s eyes.
As expected, Qin Fan still harbored those kinds of thoughts about Tantai Yaoyue.
He briefly considered showing her the video clip Cheng Rui had sent him—the one that captured Qin Fan doing such a show of himself. It would expose the man’s true nature with no room for denial. But after a moment, he let the idea go.
The surveillance equipment Cheng Rui used was top-tier, and the footage was crystal clear. More importantly, it was uncensored. He didn’t want to taint Tantai Yaoyue’s eyes with something so vulgar. Besides, he had no suitable explanation for how he’d even gotten his hands on it.
At the Ma family mansion, Ma Hongsheng sat in the grand hall, waiting for Qin Fan to arrive and help purge the lingering toxins from his body.
Cheng Rui walked in, holding a cup of tea brewed just the way Ma Hongsheng liked it. She placed it gently on the low table in front of him.
“You could have let the maids handle this,” Ma Hongsheng said with a look full of affection.
“I was afraid they’d use too much or too little tea leaves,” Cheng Rui replied with a smile that was both gentle and radiant. “I know your taste better than they do. It’s more reassuring if I do it myself.”
Her attentiveness, her grace, and that quietly capable presence made Ma Hongsheng feel blessed beyond belief. She was young, beautiful, generous, and thoughtful—the perfect woman.
She asked the question lightly, but her real purpose was to dig for information that would help Wang Haoran deal with Qin Fan more effectively.
“I don’t know his background in detail,” Ma Hongsheng replied with admiration shining in his eyes. “But he’s definitely a hidden expert. And he’s not just a doctor—he’s a man of many talents. He’s practically omnipotent.”
“So impressive,” Cheng Rui remarked with feigned surprise. She tilted her head and asked with curiosity in her voice, “Then someone like that must have countless women fawning over him, right?”
“Actually, no,” Ma Hongsheng answered without hesitation. “My master is someone who pursues purity and self-restraint. He’s never been interested in women.”
That was where Cheng Rui’s expression turned slightly ironic. She knew better. She had seen the video with her own eyes.
“Not interested in women?” she said meaningfully. “Maybe he’s just good at hiding it.”
She paused, then added as if thinking aloud, “There’s something I’m not sure I should tell you.”
“What is it? Tell me,” Ma Hongsheng asked quickly, a hint of unease creeping into his voice.
“It’s about your master… but maybe I shouldn’t say it,” she said hesitantly, casting him a glance filled with subtle concern. “You might think I’m just gossiping and trying to smear someone behind their back.”
“Rui, just tell me what it is,” Ma Hongsheng pressed, starting to get anxious. “What’s going on with my master?”
“I always feel like the way he looks at me… It’s strange,” Cheng Rui said at last, as if reluctantly revealing the truth.
“Strange how?” Ma Hongsheng asked, frowning in confusion.
“The kind of gaze a man gives a woman,” she said calmly. “You know what I mean, don’t you?”
His brows drew tighter for a moment, but he quickly composed himself and gave a firm shake of his head. “Rui, you must be overthinking it. My master is a man of great integrity. He would never entertain such disgraceful thoughts about his disciple’s wife. You must be mistaken.”
“I hope you’re right,” she said softly, letting the topic drop.
Her goal wasn’t to provoke a confrontation. She only needed to plant a seed of suspicion. The rest would follow naturally in time.
Just then, a maid entered the room. “Sir, there’s a visitor outside. She says she’s your junior sister.”
Ma Hongsheng’s eyes lit up. He stood and walked out with Cheng Rui by his side to welcome the guest.
He already knew who it was—Qin Fan had mentioned her before. Tantai Yaoyue.
After several treatments, Ma Hongsheng’s health had significantly improved. Though he still felt somewhat fatigued and lacked the energy to return to full-time work, his daily life was no longer affected.
When he and Cheng Rui finally saw Tantai Yaoyue in person, they both paused, stunned by her beauty. She looked like someone who had stepped straight out of an immortal painting.
Once the daze passed, Ma Hongsheng quickly greeted her and politely introduced Cheng Rui. Then his gaze shifted, falling curiously on the young man standing beside her.
He had seen this face before. During the time when Zhen Li brought someone to visit him, he had seen this young man, Wang Haoran.
“This is my younger brother,” Tantai Yaoyue offered a simple explanation.
Ma Hongsheng nodded and didn’t press the matter. He invited them inside and instructed the servants to prepare tea.
From beginning to end, Cheng Rui didn’t spare Wang Haoran a single glance, acting as if she had never met him in her life.
Not long after, Qin Fan arrived.
The moment he saw Tantai Yaoyue, his face lit up with a bright and eager smile.
“Master,” Tantai Yaoyue greeted respectfully.
Qin Fan nodded with a warm smile, then turned his gaze to Wang Haoran. His expression was friendly, and he even gave him a nod of acknowledgment.
Wang Haoran returned the gesture, his smile looking simple and innocent, almost like a naive youth.
“Yaoyue, have you seen that man recently?” Qin Fan suddenly asked, unable to restrain his curiosity about her love life.
Tantai Yaoyue had just managed to smooth over her emotions, treating the past like something that no longer mattered. But his question dredged it all up again.
She stole a glance at Wang Haoran from the corner of her eye, her heart faintly aching with annoyance. But this wasn’t the time to let it show.
“I don’t want to talk about him,” she said coldly. “As far as I’m concerned, he’s dead. There’s nothing left between us. Nothing ever will be.”
Wang Haoran remained calm, understanding all too well that her words were just a stubborn front.
Qin Fan, however, took it as the truth and felt a surge of joy deep in his heart. On the surface, though, he put on a sympathetic face and said with an air of sincerity, “Yaoyue, let it go. Someone better will come into your life.”
He offered a few words of comfort before turning to help Ma Hongsheng cleanse the remaining toxins from his body. The treatment didn’t take long.
“Little Ma, your place is pretty impressive,” Qin Fan suddenly remarked as he glanced around.
It had taken him several hundred meters to walk from the mansion’s main gate to the hall, and along the way, he passed vy gardens, a swimming pool, and even a sports court.
“If you’re interested, I’d be happy to show you around,” Ma Hongsheng offered with a smile.
“I’d like that,” Qin Fan replied, then looked at Tantai Yaoyue. “Why don’t you come too?”
She nodded in agreement. Having seen the same scenery, she was equally curious and wanted to see it for herself.
Ma Hongsheng and Cheng Rui led the way, guiding Qin Fan, Wang Haoran, and Tantai Yaoyue through the sprawling estate.
After a while, the group arrived at the private garage.
Inside were rows of luxury cars gleaming under the lights, each one more extravagant than the last.
Wang Haoran scanned the vehicles with a casual glance, but his eyes quickly locked onto a strikingly familiar supercar. Its sleek curves and bold presence were hard to miss.
Qin Fan noticed it too. Drawn by curiosity, he walked over and began inspecting the Bugatti from every angle.
“Rui,” Ma Hongsheng asked with a puzzled expression, “I don’t remember us owning a Bugatti Veyron like this one.”
Wang Haoran felt his heart jolt.
That car was his.
He once used it to help Bian Suwen, pretending to give it away as part of a ploy. That’s how it ended up in Cheng Rui’s hands.
To avoid exposing their connection, he had never taken the car back.
Now, standing there in silence, he glanced toward Cheng Rui, silently praying she wouldn’t let anything slip.
Let this moment pass without drawing attention.
