Yan Zhiyi watched the scene unfold and finally understood: Zhao Mengli's scheme to have her sister bullied had been exposed.

She had originally planned to tell her father about it as soon as he came home today, but to her surprise, he already knew. This was fantastic!

Seeing Zhao Mengli's swollen face from being slapped, crying endlessly, Yan Zhiyi felt a deep sense of satisfaction.

"Sister, please forgive me, okay?" Zhao Mengli clung to Yan Nanfeng's legs.

Yan Nanfeng couldn't even pull away. Still a bit bewildered, she looked over at Yan Zhiyi.

Yan Zhiyi explained to her, "When you were bullied before and Qin Chen saved you, she was the one who hired those bullies."

Yan Nanfeng froze, looking at Zhao Mengli in confusion. "Why? Why would you do that?"

Chu Jiaolian hurriedly tried to explain, "Mengli just had a momentary lapse in judgment. I've spoiled her too much."

"I was wrong. I shouldn't have let my jealousy drive me to have people bully you. But I really only told them to scare you! I didn't tell them to actually do anything to you."

"I'm so sorry, sister, please forgive me." Zhao Mengli was crying so hard she was gasping for air.

She was terrified, but even more than that, she was filled with resentment. She hadn't expected to be found out. Besides, she really only meant to scare Yan Nanfeng. Nothing actually happened, right? Wasn't Yan Nanfeng saved? Why did she have to suffer such a harsh punishment?

Her mother had just told her that her father had found out and wanted to send her back to her biological father.

She absolutely refused to go back. She would apologize, she would kneel, but she would never go back there.

Zhao Mengli's biological father, Zhao Youyu, wasn't exactly poor, but he wasn't wealthy either. They were slightly better off than average, running a family supermarket.

However, Zhao Youyu had a slew of terrible vices. Favoring sons over daughters was the least of it; he cheated, drank, became violent, and had even tried to offer Zhao Mengli to a client just to secure a business deal.

Her past life was a nightmare. It wasn't until Chu Jiaolian brought her into the Yan family that she finally learned what a happy life looked like. That was exactly why she was so intensely jealous of Yan Nanfeng and Yan Zhiyi.

That pain was supposed to be far behind her. Now, at the mere mention of being sent back, Zhao Mengli couldn't stop trembling. She couldn't go back. She would rather die than return to Zhao Youyu.

Zhao Mengli kept kowtowing. Seeing this, Yan Nanfeng couldn't bear it. "Forget it, stop knocking your head."

Chu Jiaolian hugged Zhao Mengli. "Nanfeng, it's my fault. I didn't raise your sister Mengli well. I'm at fault too, and I must apologize to you. I'm so sorry." Chu Jiaolian wiped her tears, looking at Yan Nanfeng pleadingly.

Yan Nanfeng looked helplessly at Yan Zhiyi and Yan Zheng. Seeing this, Yan Zheng finally spoke up, "Alright, that's enough."

He stood up and said to Chu Jiaolian, "We'll do as we discussed today. Zhiyi, Nanfeng, come upstairs with me."

"Okay, Dad."

Yan Zhiyi led Yan Nanfeng upstairs, following Yan Zheng. After they left, Zhao Mengli threw herself into Chu Jiaolian's arms and burst into tears. "Mom, what am I going to do?"

Chu Jiaolian held her tight. "Don't be afraid. Mom has an apartment outside. You can live there for now. I won't let them send you back, don't worry."

Zhao Mengli's trembling body finally calmed down. "Mom, I'll never dare do something like this again."

Chu Jiaolian hushed her, "Alright, alright. Let's go upstairs and pack your things first. Get your stuff organized. Don't be scared, Mom will never abandon you."

"Thank you, Mom."

Back in Zhao Mengli's room, Chu Jiaolian began packing her belongings and said, "I'll arrange for you to transfer schools later. Think about which school you want to attend."

"Can't I stay at Mingde? Mom, I'm about to take the college entrance exams. What if I transfer and my grades drop?"

Chu Jiaolian stroked her face. "Mom has a plan. If you don't do well on the exams, I'll send you abroad. Mom still has enough money for your study abroad expenses."

"You sleep here tonight. When it's time for dinner, don't go downstairs; I'll bring it up to you. Tomorrow, I'll take you to my apartment."

Zhao Mengli bit her lip. "Was this Dad's decision? Mom, can't you talk to him? I really didn't mean to."

Chu Jiaolian sighed, "There's no room for negotiation. You should have told me earlier. I could have cleaned up the mess for you. If you ever do something like this again, you must tell me, understand?"

"I understand."

In the study, Yan Zhiyi and Yan Nanfeng sat in chairs across the desk from Yan Zheng.

Yan Zheng sighed and said to Yan Nanfeng, "Nanfeng, I'm sorry. I've been too busy lately and haven't paid enough attention to you."

Yan Nanfeng shook her head. "No, I know you're busy with work. The company has so many people depending on you. It's okay that you're busy."

Yan Zheng looked pleased. "My daughter is so understanding. I know someone saved you back then, right? You..."

Yan Zhiyi immediately interrupted him, "Dad, my sister and I have already repaid that favor. She did a lot for him, and I think the debt has been fully settled."

"If he doesn't have the money for school, you can give him a scholarship quota, and we can prioritize him for future job recruitment. But let's leave it at that. He might not even appreciate anything more."

Yan Zheng looked at her. "Have you met him?"

Yan Zhiyi nodded. "I have. I don't like him, but I don't deny his kindness to my sister, which is why I helped him when he was in trouble before."

"But Dad, if someone expects us to blindly keep helping them forever just because of that, I won't agree to it. We aren't pushovers."

Yan Zheng didn't think it was a big deal. "Alright, I understand. I'll have someone keep an eye on him. If he can't afford his tuition, I can have the company offer him a scholarship. What do you think, Nanfeng?"

Yan Nanfeng nodded. "Whatever you and Dad decide is fine."

Yan Zheng nodded. "As for the matter with Zhao Mengli, you should have told me earlier. But it's fine, I've already had someone deal with the guy. As for Mengli, I'm making her move out. From now on, she is not allowed to step foot in the Yan family home."

Yan Zhiyi was delighted to hear this. Yan Nanfeng hesitated for a moment. "What about Auntie..."

Yan Zheng replied, "Don't worry about your aunt. She wouldn't dare go against my decision."

Yan Nanfeng said, "Whatever Dad decides is fine."

"Mm, it's about time. Let's head down for dinner."

"Okay."

At dinner that evening, it was just their family of three. Neither Chu Jiaolian nor Zhao Mengli came down, but Yan Zhiyi didn't care.

The next day, Yan Zhiyi saw a moving truck arrive at their front door. Zhao Mengli was forced to move out, and on top of that, her allowance had been cut off.

However, Yan Zhiyi figured that even without an allowance, Chu Jiaolian would still give Zhao Mengli money. And since Chu Jiaolian's money came from her father anyway, it didn't really make much of a difference.

Still, Yan Zhiyi was thrilled enough that she was moving out. Someone like her truly didn't deserve to stay in their home!

When she went to school, Yan Zhiyi told Ji Huaizhou about what had happened. He was the only person she confided in. "This is a family matter, so please keep it to yourself."

Ji Huaizhou covered his mouth and nodded. "My lips are sealed. It is just a shame I wasn't there to see the whole thing play out. How satisfying!"

He certainly had not forgotten how that stepsister had stolen the things he gave to Yan Zhiyi. She was absolutely despicable, and the sooner someone like her was gone, the better!

Later, when he found out that the stepsister had actually transferred schools, Ji Huaizhou was even more thrilled. "Let's get dinner tonight! It is my treat!"

Yan Zhiyi was speechless. Just whose family was celebrating a happy occasion anyway? Why did he seem even happier about it than she was?
