I Became the Rich Second-Generation Villain

The summer sunlight was always beautiful.
Early in the morning, it was already bright and radiant.
Zhou Mu saw his daughter combing her hair in the yard. It reminded him of when she was little, when he used to help her comb and braid her hair.
In the blink of an eye, she had grown so tall and could do it herself now.
Looking at the daughter he had raised with his own hands, he felt she looked beautiful no matter what, and that gave him a strong sense of accomplishment.
Then he heard Zhou Zhizhi say, “Dad, the admission notice says girls need to have ear-length short hair, and boys need crew cuts. I’ve already arranged to go to town with Xiangqian and the others to get a haircut.”
Zhou Mu nodded seriously.
But deep down, he felt a small pang of disappointment. He used to be the one who accompanied his daughter to get her hair cut.
The Old Scholar standing nearby chuckled quietly. Zhou Mu was actually the most idle person at the mine.
It was supposed to be just an ordinary day.
Zhou Mu got off work early and waited at the entrance of his house for his daughter to return, determined to be the first to praise her new haircut.
He still remembered the first time he cut Zhou Zhizhi’s long hair short when she was little, how hard she cried.
Back then, he thought she would never want to cut her hair again.
It was a bit hot outside. The Old Scholar went back inside for a nap, but Zhou Mu sat upright, occasionally glancing toward the village entrance.
Soon, a distant roaring sound approached, mixed with the noise of engines.
Normally, honking wasn’t allowed in the village, but these vehicles were loud and brazen, like rolling thunder.
Under the sunlight, Zhou Mu saw a motorcycle leading the way at high speed. It sped forward almost as if flying over slopes.
He couldn’t tell how powerful the engine was, but seeing it steadily leading a large Hummer behind it, he knew it was fast.
The motorcycle gleamed with a black-gold metallic sheen in the sun. The rider wore a helmet, making it impossible to see who it was, though they seemed slender.
From a distance, Zhou Mu shook his head, thinking it was probably Li Changeng’s son again. The boy was usually steady, but somehow got influenced by his father and became obsessed with vehicles.
The roaring grew louder as the motorcycle and the cars behind it drove straight toward his house.
Zhou Mu thought his daughter must be in one of those cars. He began to wonder how he should praise her short haircut.
“Zhizhi’s haircut looks really… nice… good… not bad…”
He struggled, feeling like nothing he said sounded quite right.
The motorcycle drew closer. Because it was going so fast, it reached him in just a few breaths.
There was a set of steps in front of his house, and Zhou Mu watched in shock as the motorcycle actually leaped up over them.
His heart nearly stopped. Because he realized, the rider wasn’t anyone else.
It was his precious daughter.
At that moment, he wanted to beat Liu Shankui, the kid who taught her to ride a motorcycle, to death.
And also whoever lent her the bike.
Then he saw Zhou Zhizhi ride up to him, execute a clean, steady turn, and stop the motorcycle right in front of him, smooth and spectacular.
The tires screeched sharply against the ground as it came to a halt.
Zhou Zhizhi wore small boots, jeans, and a white T-shirt. One long, straight leg touched the ground first, then she swung the other leg over and stood neatly in front of the bike.
She reached out her slender hand, turned the key, and shut off the engine. Only then did the cars behind her stop.
Inside one of the cars, Wang Cuicui’s lollipop fell right out of her mouth. She leaned out the window and shouted, “Zhizhi, you’re so cool! I’m not chasing anyone else anymore, I’m chasing you!”
Zhou Zhizhi took off her helmet and proudly turned back to greet the people in the car.
That instantly triggered another wave of screams.
Li Xiangqian, who was driving, suddenly felt his nose heat up. Staring blankly at Zhizhi, he forgot to brake and drove straight into the steps.
The moment his daughter took off her helmet, Zhou Mu froze.
His soft, sweet, adorable little girl…
Had shaved her head completely bald. Yes, literally bald. Smooth, nearly no hair at all.
Standing in front of the motorcycle like that, she looked indescribably cool.
But Zhou Mu felt like he had been struck by lightning.
Well… even with a shaved head, his daughter was still unbelievably good-looking.
Zhou Mu had always known she was beautiful. She had been pretty since childhood, and now she was even more so.
In all the surrounding villages, and even in the town or county, he was confident no one looked better than his daughter.
Because of that, he felt an immense amount of pressure. He was afraid that one day she would leave him, become someone else’s daughter.
He was even more afraid that he wouldn’t be capable enough to protect her. He couldn’t bear for her to suffer even the slightest harm. To him, she deserved only the very best.
But the soft, cuddly little girl who used to cling to him, had suddenly turned into a bald-headed girl riding a Harley, flying toward him like the wind.
“Zhizhi, you’re so cool!”“Zhizhi, you’re so beautiful!”“Zhizhi!”
Hearing the excited screams of the girls around her, Zhou Mu felt his temples throb, his hands trembling with anger.
All he wanted was for his daughter to live a peaceful, stable life. Not to go astray, not to be bullied, to grow up safely.
For a moment, it felt like the girl before him wasn’t even his daughter anymore, he didn’t recognize her at all.
Zhou Zhizhi, seeing her father’s shocked expression, didn’t notice his anger at all. She walked over coolly, took out a photo from her wallet, and handed it to him.
“Dad, don’t you think this haircut makes me look just like you?”
Zhou Mu never took photos. He didn’t like leaving behind images or accepting interviews.
The photos from his youth had long been thrown away as trash in his old house.
The only remaining photo was the one taken when he entered prison, his head shaved, standing stiffly in front of a board, an ID photo taken at the police station.
And now, that photo was in his daughter’s hand.
She proudly rubbed her smooth, bald head and looked at Zhou Mu with bright anticipation.
In that instant, all of Zhou Mu’s anger vanished. His heart softened completely, as if it had been filled with warm, melting honey.
His eyes grew moist. He even felt like the tears that might fall were sweet.
“Yes… you do. Zhizhi looks exactly like how Dad did when he was young.”
Little ramble:
xiaoxingxing: Am I the only one who wants to smack some sense into Zhou Mu??? Please tell me, I’m not the only one!
