Chapter 33: Chapter 33
Lysander’s pov
I woke up with a quiet groan, forcing myself to sit up against the headboard as my head throbbed.
Grimacing at the bitter, metallic taste coating my tongue, I winced. "Ugh...."
My mouth felt sore inside, I perused it with my tongue, wincing when it felt like my throat had been vandalized. I blame Professor Drake for this.
I swung my legs over the side of the mattress, stifling a gasp as a sharp, deep ache flared between my thighs.
Why on earth was it aching like this today? It hadn’t felt nearly this sore when I went to sleep last night.
Chalking it up to the lingering physical aftermath of Drake’s violence, I forced myself to stand and head for the bath.
Thirty minutes later, I was dressed for classes, following the rich scent of sweet batter down to the kitchen.
Darius was busy behind the marble island, sliding a fresh stack of blueberry pancakes onto a plate.
"G-good morning," I greeted softly, taking a seat on a stool while carefully suppressing a pained wince.
"Morning, sweet boy." Darius offered a warm, handsome smile as he set the plate down right in front of me.
"You’re just in time. Fresh scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, and cold juice."
"W-where’s Mom?" I asked, picking up my fork and cutting into the fluffy stack.
"Still fast asleep upstairs," he chuckled lightly. "I don’t think she’ll be coming down for a few more hours at least."
Murmuring a quiet thanks, I devoured the warm meal, feeling my empty stomach settle comfortably after the hot food.
"Thank you, Darius," I said, wiping my mouth with a napkin as I stood up. "I... I really have to head out now."
As much as I wanted to hide under my covers all day, I couldn’t afford to miss my art history lectures and drop my GPA.
"Wait a second, son," Darius called out, stopping me right before I reached the front foyer.
He narrowed his blue eyes slightly as he looked at my collar. "You’re not wearing the necklace I gave you last night. Why?"
"I... I forgot to put it on when I got dressed," I stammered out, feeling instantly sheepish. "S-sorry."
"Where is it?" he asked gently.
I ran back up the grand staircase to my bedroom, returning a minute later with the velvet box in my hands.
"Don’t leave the house without it again," Darius whispered, stepping close to help me clasp the silver chain behind my neck.
"Your mother doesn’t know this, but I specifically picked this piece out because of the pure silver content."
"Pure silver naturally repels predatory creatures, especially high-tier vampires. It will keep you safe out there."
My heart swelled with a sudden wave of warmth, Darius was truly looking out for me in ways no one else ever had.
"T-thank you," I offered shyly, my cheeks flushing slightly at his close proximity. "That’s... really thoughtful."
I took the local city transit to campus, nervously fidgeting with the heavy pendant during the entire ride.
Darius’s protective care made me feel truly considered and valued for the first time in years.
Ever since my biological parents’ messy divorce, I had carried this deep, aching hole inside me, longing for a father figure.
Darius filled that empty void without even trying, and I was immensely grateful to have him in my corner.
I was an absolute wreck all morning, constantly glancing over my shoulder, expecting Drake to burst from the shadows.
I kept waiting for him to drag me back to his apartment, but as the hours ticked by, I didn’t catch a single glimpse of him.
By the time noon rolled around, my frayed nerves finally began to settle down.
That was my very first mistake.
My second mistake was taking a shortcut through the neglected east wing of the fine arts building.
The entire floor was undergoing heavy renovations, so the dimly lit hallway was completely abandoned during the day.
Before I could even register the shadow moving behind me, strong, freezing fingers clamped tightly around my wrist.
I was violently yanked sideways into an empty, half-finished lecture hall, my back slamming hard against the cold drywall.
My breath hitched in my throat as my wide, terrified eyes locked onto painfully familiar, piercing slate-grey eyes.
Drake.
Panic instantly gripped my throat, making my voice tremble violently as I shrank back against the wall.
"W-what... what do you think you’re d-doing?!" I stammered, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird.
Drake remained dead silent, his gaze sweeping over my trembling body in a slow, suffocating evaluation.
His dark brows pulled down into a sharp, dangerous scowl as his eyes narrowed to deadly slits.
"I let you go for less than twenty-four hours, and you already let someone fill you with their cum?" he snarled.
My chest heaved, my hands shaking uncontrollably as I pressed myself flat against the wall. "G-get away from me..."
"Who did you open your legs for?" Drake growled, stepping into my space and burying his nose against the crook of my neck.
He took a deep, aggressive inhale, his jaw clenching hard. "You reek of another man."
"P-please... stop!" I gasped, frantically trying to push his broad chest away with my trembling hands.
Pushing against him was like trying to shove a solid granite wall, he didn’t budge even an inch.
I could feel his scalding, hot breath fanning across my sensitive skin, sending a violent shiver of pure terror down my spine.
"I will ask you one more time, Lysander," he growled low, the sound vibrating straight through my collarbone. "Who the hell fucked you?"
"N-nobody!" I sobbed out, hot, panicked tears spilling over my lashes as I trembled beneath his heavy weight.
My eyes widened in absolute horror as I felt the sharp, terrifying points of his fangs scrape directly over my pulse point.
"N-no! Drake, please!" I shrieked, panic giving me a desperate, sudden burst of strength.
I shoved his shoulders with everything I had, somehow managing to stumble backward out of his grip.
Panting heavily, I wiped the scalding tears from my hot cheeks with the back of my shaking hand.
"I-I didn’t sleep with anyone!" I stammered out, my throat tight. "A-and even if I did, it’s n-none of your business!"
Drake’s grey eyes flashed a lethal crimson. "Like hell it isn’t! You are mine!"
A bitter, shaky laugh escaped my lips, a pathetic, broken sound that hurt my throat.
"R-right... I forgot," I whimpered, clutching my books against my chest like a shield.
"I forgot this is who you really are. The monster who used me and r-recorded it without my consent."
A sudden flicker of what looked like genuine regret flashed across Drake’s icy features. "Lysander—"
"D-don’t!" I squeaked, shaking my head frantically as tears blurred my vision. "I don’t want to hear it!"
"I don’t care about you anymore! You’re a monster, and I... I’m terrified of you!"
