Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Lysander’s pov

The force of the blow whipped my head to the side, my cheek burning as hot tears spilled over my lashes.

I glared up at him with unadulterated venom, gathering the fluid in my mouth and spitting directly into his face.

My saliva landed wetly across his cheek, dripping slowly down toward his jawline.

Gideon wiped his face with the back of his hand, his eyes darkening to a terrifying, pitch-black shade.

A second heavy blow struck my jaw, making my ears ring as my head bounced off the floor.

"You know..." Gideon growled, his voice dropping into a chilling, measured cadence that made my blood run cold.

"If you keep making this difficult, I will pull out my phone and start a live FaceTime call with your mother."

"She can watch her precious, delicate little boy get turned inside out in crystal clear 4K. I want to watch her treacherous heart snap into two from watching me pound into you."

"Fine!" I snapped out, fed up beyond the point of reason.

I was completely done being blackmailed, done being tortured, done being held hostage by his endless threats.

"Fucking call her for all I care!" I screamed up at him, my voice cracking with raw hysteria.

"You’ve already sent that video to everyone in my department! Send one to my mom and Darius too! Send it to the whole fucking world! You have ruined me for good and let this whole nightmare finally be over!"

Better yet, I would walk into the house and tell them everything myself. They might disown me but I will still be living in my truth.

I was done hiding in fear, done letting him use my family as a leash to drag me through the dirt.

Even as the wild thought flared in my mind, a cold knot of dread tightened in my stomach.

Deep down, I knew I could never look my mother in the eyes and tell her what had happened to me.

I couldn’t bear to see her warm, protective love turn into horrified pity or disgust.

It would be infinitely easier if Gideon just called my bluff and made the call himself so the truth was out in the open.

At least then, the agonizing suspense would be over, and I would finally be free of his grip.

"What are you waiting for?!" I spat, my voice shaking with desperate rage. "Call her right now! She’s sitting at home waiting for me!"

"Call Darius too! Let him see his golden stepson getting fucked by his own son on a filthy floor! Let’s shatter their stupid fantasy of us being one big happy family once and for all!"

I sneered, laughing manically, "Yes my mother would be disappointed at what I am but your father would forever hate you for ruining the family. He has always been disappointed in you because he hates you, you are nothing like him."

Gideon stilled above me, a subtle crease forming between his dark brows.

His heavy thrusts slowed to a halt, his dark eyes searching my face with a cold, calculating intensity.

He was gauging my expression, trying to figure out if I had genuinely snapped or if I was just desperate.

He must have seen the absolute, broken truth in my eyes, because the cruel scowl on his face suddenly melted away.

Gideon smiled down at me.

It was a smooth, strikingly handsome expression, the exact charming face he wore when he played the perfect son in front of my mother.

He looked nothing like the monster who had just beaten and degraded me on the stone floor a second ago.

"Poor, dramatic baby," Gideon cooed softly, reaching out to gently cup my bruised cheek.

His thumb traced over the hot, swollen skin where he had just struck me, his touch nauseatingly gentle.

"There’s no need to look so utterly heartbroken, Lysander. Things aren’t nearly as catastrophic as you’ve convinced yourself they are."

"Call them then," I whispered, completely unimpressed by his sudden mood shift. "Go on, do it."

"I won’t," Gideon murmured, his dark brown eyes softening with a terrifying, fake warmth.

"You love your mother far too much. It would utterly destroy you if you got separated from her or if she looked at you differently."

"I’m not interested in taking things quite that far, little brother. I just needed you to remember your place."

"Could have fooled me," I growled out through gritted teeth, trying to pull my face away from his hand.

"Are you still upset about that video clip?" Gideon waved a dismissive hand, as if he hadn’t just destroyed my entire life on campus. "That’s an easy fix. I can make the whole situation disappear by tomorrow morning."

My heart gave an involuntary, pathetic leap of hope against my ribs, even though my brain screamed at me not to trust a word he said.

"How?" I asked warily, my voice dropping. "Everyone in the art department has already seen it and saved it."

"I’ll have it wiped from every local server and group chat," Gideon stated with absolute confidence.

"I have the resources to ensure there won’t be a single digital copy left anywhere on campus."

"As for the students gossiping about it in the halls... I will handle them personally, so you don’t need to worry your pretty little head."

"Easy for you to say," I hissed, my body aching beneath his heavy weight.

"You’re not the one featured in a viral sextape circulating through every lecture hall."

"Even if you magically delete the video, what about those disgusting assholes you brought to watch us at the door?"

"What’s to stop them from telling the entire university what they saw in this room today?"

Gideon hummed softly, his thumb rubbing over my lower lip, smearing the blood from where I’d bitten it.

"I will handle them as well," he whispered, a dark, secret smile curving his lips. "However, men like that require a substantial incentive to maintain absolute silence."

"Whether or not they cooperate and keep their mouths shut depends entirely on how well you perform for them right now, Lysander."

My entire spine went rigid, a fresh wave of ice flooding my veins. "W-what do you mean...?"

Gideon’s smile widened into something truly sinister.

Turning his head toward the open metal doorway, he called out in a loud, commanding voice.

"Alright, boys! Come on inside, he’s ready for you now."
