Hearing everyone's replies, Elder Lu nodded. "It's good that you all know Tang Yi," he said. "I don't need to say much about his strength—you should all be well aware of it by now, right? Yes, he is strong. Incredibly strong! But!"
Elder Lu let the word hang in the air, then paused before continuing, "I need you all to keep a secret for Tang Yi. Don't breathe a single word about what happened here—not about his strength, not about how he killed the Heaven-Devouring Thief, and so on. Until Tang Yi reveals it himself, you are to say nothing. Can you do that? Of course, there's something in it for you. Tang Yi has already agreed. As long as you keep his secret, he will lend you a hand and help you enter the West Mansion. With someone of his strength helping you, I'm sure your chances of success will be much higher."
Upon hearing this, the examinees below erupted.
"Is... is that true? He'll really help us? I... I swear I won't tell anyone! I won't say a single word about Tang Yi!"
"Tang Yi saved our lives! Even if he weren't helping us, I would keep his secret no matter what!"
"Yeah, me too!"
"*Sniffle*... I nearly died just now. Tang Yi was the one who pulled me back from the Ghost Gate. I'll do whatever he says!"
"I swear I'll keep the secret!"
"..."
The examinees all chimed in.
"Good. And it's not just the examinees who must keep this secret. The West Mansion Disciples and the Chief Examiners are also forbidden from revealing anything about Tang Yi. Do you understand?" Elder Lu turned to address the West Mansion Disciples and Chief Examiners.
"Yes, sir! We swear we won't reveal a thing!"
The Chief Examiners and West Mansion Disciples all replied in unison.
"Xiao Bai," Elder Lu ordered, "go and have everyone swear a magical oath. It's the only way to be certain. I don't want the Elders from the other districts discovering Tang Yi's strength before he has a chance to display his Divine Power."
"Yes, sir!" Xiao Bai nodded in acknowledgment. He then gathered the Chief Examiners and set about having everyone swear an oath.
Once all that was taken care of, Elder Lu turned to Tang Yi. "Tang Yi," he said, "do you have any objections to what I've done?"
"None."
Tang Yi shook his head.
'Since he'd already revealed his strength, it didn't really matter to him whether the secret got out or not. He was fine with whatever Elder Lu wanted to do.'
"You're certainly calm about all this." Elder Lu gave Tang Yi a sideways glance and shook his head before continuing with a smile, "The reason I don't want your strength revealed so quickly is simple. If the West Mansion higher-ups found out, they'd recruit you on the spot. If that happened, my goal of having you help the North District's examinees would be impossible to achieve. Besides, with your power hidden, I can give those old geezers from the other districts a little 'surprise' and take them down a peg. Otherwise, they're always so damn smug."
"Er, whatever you say, Elder Lu. I have no objections."
Tang Yi paused for a moment before replying, completely supportive of the Elder's plan.
'He had to complete the main quest, after all. If he couldn't even participate in the House Entrance Examination, how was he supposed to do that?'
'Thank goodness Elder Lu was so thorough.'
...
After everyone had sworn their oath of secrecy for Tang Yi, Elder Lu waved his hand, and the Void Warship set off once more.
In a seemingly magical feat, the incomparably massive Cyan Profound Warship vanished without a trace; no one knew what method Elder Lu had used to stow it away. With its path now clear, the Void Warship resumed its flight toward the West Mansion Headquarter.
As the Void Warship took off again with a roar of wind, Tang Yi returned to the side of his Tang Family members, finally having a moment to himself.
The three members of the Tang Family now looked at Tang Yi with even greater reverence. It was the gaze one reserved for an idol, an admiration so profound it was akin to worship. Their world now revolved entirely around him. Whatever Tang Yi said, they would obey without a second thought, following his orders to the letter—even if he told them to go and die...
They might just have a moment of madness and actually do it.
As for Wang Bi'Er, her admiration for Tang Yi only grew. Her eyes were practically glued to him whenever she looked his way. Her adoration for him was so obvious, anyone who wasn't blind could see it.
And what about Mu Xianling?
Her feelings were far more complicated. After Tang Yi returned, she didn't dare utter a single word. She just stayed quietly by his side, appearing exceedingly meek and gentle. Anyone who didn't know she was a Battle Grandmaster would have mistaken her for a frail young woman, someone too weak to even truss a chicken.
It was a fragility that would stir a protective instinct in any man, making people wonder if something was wrong with her. Had she been scared out of her wits by the Heaven-Devouring Thief? Why the drastic change?
However, Tang Yi had no time to deal with the three members of the Tang Family, nor the lovestruck Wang Bi'Er or the strangely subdued Mu Xianling.
As soon as he returned, he turned his attention inward and began to take stock of the day's harvest.
And what a harvest it was. Not only had he gained several Levels, but he had also acquired a great deal of loot.

'I'm rich!'
