The glow of the Eternal Crystal had completely disappeared.
The hall had returned to its usual state, illuminated only by the soft light streaming through the openings in the ceiling, creating beams of light that danced slowly through the dust-filled air.
The stone floated once again in its serene silence, as if nothing had happened, as if the spectacle of lights that had filled the hall had been nothing more than a fleeting illusion, a dream from which everyone had awakened.
Even so, the atmosphere remained different.
An invisible tension lingered in the air, a weight that no one could completely ignore, as if the hall itself were still processing what it had witnessed.
Many of those present continued to cast discreet glances at Lukas, their eyes roaming over the boy with a curiosity that bordered on awe.
Some whispered among themselves, their low voices fading into the echo of the hall, murmurs about what they had seen, about the lights, about the possibility that they had witnessed something that had never happened before.
Others simply watched, unable to take their eyes off the boy who had triggered two consecutive bursts of light, two phenomena that defied everything they knew about Awakening.
The children who were still waiting for their turn looked at Lukas with a mixture of admiration and fear, as if he were something different, something that did not fit into their understanding of the world.
Their parents pulled them closer, as if being near that boy could be dangerous.
Lukas, on the other hand, seemed calm. His shoulders were relaxed, his breathing was slow and steady, and his eyes swept across the hall with a serenity that contrasted sharply with the commotion around him. There was no nervousness in his movements, no hesitation in his gaze.
His heart was still beating a little faster than usual, a slight acceleration he could feel in his chest like the gentle rhythm of a drum.
But it was not nervousness, nor anxiety.
It was excitement. A thrill that came from within, warming his body like a gentle flame, making his eyes shine with a light of their own.
He had awakened two abilities that would completely change his life. Two Unique Abilities that would open doors he had never even known existed.
Two tools that would turn his dreams into achievable goals, giving form to all the plans he had made over the years.
As he walked beside his family, slowly moving away from the altar toward the area reserved for relatives, he felt a gentle tug on the sleeve of his clothes.
Judite’s small fingers wrapped around the fabric, gently pulling to get his attention with the persistence only a younger sister could have. Or rather, an older sister.
He turned his head and met his sister’s brown eyes, shining with an intensity he knew well. It was the same expression she wore whenever she saw something new and interesting, whenever she discovered a secret, or whenever she was about to ask a question that simply could not wait.
Judite stood beside him, looking around before moving even closer, as if she were about to share an important secret that no one else could hear.
She rose onto her tiptoes, bringing her mouth close to Lukas’s ear, and whispered so softly that her voice almost disappeared amid the murmurs filling the hall.
"Brother..."
Lukas smiled, recognizing the excitement in her voice, that tone she always used when she was about to ask a question she simply could not hold back.
"Hm?"
"What did you awaken?" The girl’s brown eyes sparkled with curiosity, a spark that seemed to consume all of her attention, making everything else around her irrelevant.
"After all that light... I have to know!"
Lukas could not hold back a small laugh, the sound escaping his lips before he could stop it. She really could not wait even a few minutes; her curiosity always overpowered any attempt at patience. It was a trait he had learned to love and tolerate in equal measure.
He glanced briefly at Clavor and Aurora. The two were speaking quietly while watching the other children preparing to step onto the altar, their eyes scanning the hall with an attention that seemed casual but concealed constant vigilance.
They were alert to everything and everyone, but they did not seem eager to question him at that moment, giving Lukas the space he needed to process everything that had happened.
Lukas looked back at his sister, the smile still resting on his lips, brightening his face.
"It’s alright." Then he answered quietly, making sure only his family could hear him, choosing his words carefully.
"The ability is called Affinity with Beings."
Judite blinked several times as she processed the name. Her lips moved silently, repeating the words as though trying to memorize them.
"...Affinity with Beings?" she repeated slowly, as though trying to imagine what kind of ability it could be, the words taking shape in her mind.
The next moment, a huge smile spread across her face, so wide it seemed to light up her entire expression, making her eyes shine with contagious joy.
"And what does it do?" The questions began pouring out one after another without the slightest pause, like a river overflowing its banks, as if she simply could not contain the flood of her curiosity.
"Is it a magical ability? Does it make you stronger? Can you talk to monsters? Can you control beasts?"
Before Lukas could answer, a light tap landed on the top of Judite’s head. The sound was soft, almost affectionate, but carried a very clear message.
’Tap.’
"Ow!" She immediately raised both hands to her head, rubbing the spot with an exaggerated expression of pain before turning to glare at the culprit.
"Mom!"
Aurora wore an amused smile, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of affection and amusement. She knew her daughter well and understood that the only way to rein in her excitement was with a gentle reminder.
"Breathe first. Your brother just finished his Awakening. Let him answer one question at a time."
Judite pouted slightly, her lips curling into an overly dramatic expression of defeat, though her eyes remained fixed on her brother.
"...Okay."
Even so, she continued staring at Lukas with such curiosity that she seemed to forget to blink. Her eyes remained locked on him, eagerly waiting for every word he might say, every detail he might reveal.
Lukas smiled, appreciating his sister’s contagious energy, her ability to turn any moment into something special. He thought for a moment, organizing his thoughts, deciding how much to share.
That ability belonged to him. He could keep it hidden if he wanted, guarding it as a secret known only to himself. But these people were his family. There was no reason to hide something so simple, so fundamental to who he was.
"From what I understand..." he began, his voice calm and measured, choosing each word carefully.
"My ability makes beings whose strength is similar to mine develop a favorable impression of me."
The three remained silent, their eyes fixed on him, absorbing every word, every nuance of his explanation.
Lukas continued, his explanation becoming more detailed as he organized his thoughts.
"They tend to see me in a positive light. Or, at the very least, they don’t become hostile toward me without reason. It’s much easier for me to become friends with them."
