Lukas took a deep breath, filling his lungs with fresh air, and pushed.
The log barely moved.
His arms immediately trembled under the weight, his muscles contracting desperately as they tried to lift the impossible burden. It was far heavier than he had imagined, far more than his body was prepared to bear.
He gritted his teeth, his jaw tightening, and pushed again.
This time, he managed to lift it a few centimeters. The log rose slightly, just enough for his arms to leave the ground. His muscles screamed, burned, and protested against the superhuman effort.
Once more. He forced his arms upward, raising the log a little higher.
Then another repetition. His movements were clumsy and unstable, but he kept going.
By the fourth repetition, his arms were already burning intensely, every muscle fiber seeming to be on fire. His chest felt heavy, his breathing becoming ragged and uneven. Sweat poured down his forehead, ran across his face, and dripped onto the grass below.
Even so, he continued.
Five. His arms trembled violently, but he did not give up.
Six. The log rose again, though not as high as before.
Seven. His muscles were practically screaming, every movement becoming a battle against exhaustion.
Eight. His vision began to blur, dark spots dancing at the edges of his sight.
Nine. The effort was almost unbearable, but he refused to stop.
On the tenth repetition, his muscles finally gave out. The log slowly slipped from his hands, his fingers opening as the wood slid downward.
Clavor immediately caught the weight before it could fall, his movements swift and precise, preventing the log from crushing his son.
Lukas remained lying on the ground, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling in quick, uneven motions. His arms trembled uncontrollably, the muscles contracting in involuntary spasms. Sweat covered his entire body, soaking his clothes until they clung tightly to his skin.
Clavor simply watched, his expression impassive, though his eyes shone with approval.
"Rest for two minutes."
His voice remained calm and professional.
"Then we’ll do it again."
Lukas simply nodded, unable to speak as he struggled to catch his breath. Every breath was an effort, his lungs burning with the need for oxygen.
Two minutes later, when his breathing had finally steadied, he stood up once more, his arms still trembling slightly.
He tried again.
This time, he managed to complete all ten repetitions with more controlled movements. His arms still shook, his body still protested, but there was a difference. An improvement. His muscles were learning, adapting, and growing stronger.
It was hard. Very hard. Every repetition was a battle against his own body.
But he could feel his body learning quickly, that every effort made him a little stronger, a little more capable.
...
Over the next three hours, Clavor constantly alternated the exercises, keeping Lukas moving without any long breaks.
Running while carrying stones, his arms wrapped around heavy rocks as he struggled to maintain his balance. Jumping over fallen logs, demanding coordination and precision. Climbing trees, using only the strength of his arms to pull himself upward. One-arm push-ups, still unstable and awkward, but gradually improving.
With every exercise, Lukas felt his body respond differently. Some movements came naturally, his physical strength making them almost easy. Others demanded immense mental effort, his lack of coordination becoming painfully obvious.
He also learned how to fall properly. Clavor deliberately made him lose his balance, either by pushing him or placing obstacles in his path. Lukas learned to roll across the ground, distributing the impact without injuring himself.
At first, he hit rocks, branches, and exposed roots. Every fall was painful, every impact a lesson in what not to do.
But only a few minutes later, he was already rolling much more naturally, his body learning instinctively how to move to avoid injuries.
Each exercise strengthened a different part of his body. Every movement had a specific purpose, a reason to exist. There was no wasted effort in Clavor’s training. Everything was planned, everything was calculated for maximum benefit.
When the sun was already high in the sky, its intense light blazing through the leaves, Clavor finally crossed his arms once more.
"That’s enough for today."
Lukas let out a long sigh of relief, his entire body trembling with exhaustion.
Without thinking twice, he dropped heavily onto the grass, his legs finally giving out beneath his own weight.
"Ahhh..."
He complained loudly, letting all his fatigue spill into his voice.
"I’m exhausted."
Clavor couldn’t help but chuckle softly, a rare and genuine sound escaping his lips. Throughout the entire training session, the boy had not complained even once. He had never asked to stop. He had never shown weakness. Only now, when everything was over, did he finally allow his exhaustion to show.
"You did very well."
The man said sincerely, his voice filled with pride.
"You didn’t give up on a single exercise. You finished every one of them, even when your body was begging you to stop. That’s more important than any physical strength."
Lukas smiled despite his overwhelming exhaustion. His entire body ached, his arms, legs, back, and abdomen. Every muscle felt like it was on fire, every joint creaked with movement.
He remained seated for about five minutes, simply breathing, feeling the cool air flow in and out of his lungs. The sweat dried on his skin, leaving behind a salty residue.
Then, at last, he managed to stand, his legs still unsteady but functioning.
"Let’s head back."
Clavor said.
The two walked peacefully back to the Dmond Mansion, crossing the forest in comfortable silence. Lukas enjoyed the sound of the birds, the rustling of the leaves, the sunlight dancing between the trees. His body was exhausted, but his mind was at peace.
...
As soon as they passed through the mansion’s main gate, Lukas could think of only one thing, his bed. He simply wanted to climb the stairs, lie down on the soft mattress, and sleep for a few hours, letting his body recover from the effort.
However, before he could enter the mansion, Clavor called out to him again.
"Wait."
Lukas turned around in confusion, his eyes meeting his father’s.
"There’s still one important part of the training left."
The boy blinked a few times, his tired mind struggling to process the information.
"There’s more?"
