I Built a Divine Zoo in Another World
Chapter 206: Forming the Mana Source (2)"So?" The concern gave way to curiosity, his voice becoming calmer.
"What happened?"
Lukas was practically trembling with anticipation, his entire body vibrating with excitement. He seemed unable to hold back the news for even another second, as if the words were struggling to escape his mouth.
His eyes shone with an intense light, his fists were clenched with excitement, and his smile seemed too wide for his face.
Then, almost shouting, he said.
"I MANAGED TO SENSE MANA!"
Silence fell over the courtyard. Even some of the servants farther away stopped to look, their movements frozen in place. The knights interrupted their training, their swords resting against their shoulders. Even the wind seemed to have stopped blowing.
Clavor remained motionless for a brief moment, his expression unreadable. Then, slowly, a smile appeared on his face. It was small, restrained, but completely sincere. A smile that spoke more than any words ever could.
He took another step forward and firmly placed his hand on his son’s shoulder, his touch strong and reassuring.
"Good." His voice carried a pride he rarely showed.
"Very good."
His hand gently squeezed Lukas’s shoulder in affirmation.
"You did it."
Lukas simply laughed, a laugh that seemed to come from somewhere deep within him. It still felt unbelievable to say those words out loud, as if it were a dream he might wake up from at any moment.
"I really felt it!" The words came so quickly that they nearly stumbled over one another, each one competing to be spoken first.
"I managed to sense mana! It was everywhere! In the trees... in the wind... in the animals..."
Clavor listened patiently, his expression remaining calm. He did not interrupt or rush him. He simply watched the excitement written across his son’s face, allowing him to express every bit of his joy.
Deep inside, he was satisfied as well. One week. Exactly the same amount of time it had taken him when he was a child, on that distant morning when he had also taken his first step.
It was not monstrous talent capable of sensing mana within a few hours, like some rare prodigies. But it was also far from someone without aptitude, condemned to never perceive that energy.
It was a solid result. Above average. A sign that his son had the potential to grow far beyond the ordinary.
More importantly, however, was the way Lukas had found his own path. Everyone awakened their perception of mana differently, some through deep meditation, others during intense battles, some after understanding a specific emotion or experiencing a moment of clarity.
His son had awakened naturally on his day of rest, surrounded by animals that trusted him, in a moment of peace and connection.
Clavor would never forget that detail. The way Lukas had found his path said a great deal about who he was.
Before he could say anything else, Lukas stepped forward, his posture changing. The excitement still shone in his eyes, but now there was something more—a fierce determination burning within him.
"Father!" His voice overflowed with determination, firm and unwavering.
"I want to form my Mana Source today!"
The boy’s eyes burned with an intensity Clavor knew well, the same flame he had once seen in himself decades ago.
"Right now! As soon as possible!"
Clavor raised an eyebrow slightly, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. Today... was originally supposed to be a day of rest.
After an entire week of exhausting training, he had intended to let Lukas recover before beginning the next stage, giving both his body and mind time to prepare.
However, looking at the light in his son’s eyes, that determination radiating from every part of his being... it would be impossible to ask him to wait until tomorrow.
For days, the boy had struggled against frustration, doubt, and the fear that he lacked talent. Every afternoon had been a silent battle against his own limitations, a struggle to keep hope alive.
Now that he had finally overcome that barrier, his motivation was at its peak. To extinguish it would be a mistake, a waste of the momentum he had built with so much effort.
A small smile returned to Clavor’s lips, one filled with understanding and approval.
"Alright."
Lukas immediately lifted his head, his eyes widening.
"Really?"
"Yes." Clavor slowly removed his hand from his son’s shoulder, his fingers leaving with one final encouraging touch.
"There are times when resting is important. But there are also times when we must seize the momentum created by our own hearts."
He looked directly into his son’s eyes, his gaze deep and meaningful.
"This is one of those times."
Lukas clenched both fists tightly, his fingers curling with force. The excitement nearly made his entire body tremble, a vibration running through every fiber of his being.
"Thank you, Father!" His voice came out louder than he had intended, overflowing with gratitude.
Clavor turned around calmly, his movements fluid and controlled.
"Come." He began walking toward the mansion gates, his steps firm and steady.
"Let’s return to the clearing. That is where you will take your first step as a true mana user."
Lukas’s heart immediately began racing, beating so hard that he could feel the pulse in his throat. Without wasting even a single second, he ran after his father, his feet quickly finding their rhythm.
Behind him, Tilbo followed every step, his massive body moving with surprising grace. Prata vanished into the shadows of the gardens, her silver form dissolving into the vegetation.
Astra took flight once more, her white wings spreading against the blue sky as she traced wide circles while following the group. Rourke poked his head out of Lukas’s sleeve again, his bright eyes watching everything with curiosity, his nose twitching as it caught the scents around them.
Lukas could not stop smiling, his face illuminated by a happiness that seemed endless.
After so many days of effort, after so many doubts, after so much frustration... the moment had finally arrived.
All those silent afternoons, all those hours of fruitless concentration, all that crushing uncertainty... every bit of it had been worth it.
Today... he would forge his Mana Source.
