I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 375: Battle With The Calamity I

Seris pointed her sword directly at Lian.

The distance between them was probably no more than thirty meters, but those few dozen meters felt heavier to her than the entire path they had traveled to the Giant Graveyard.

One stood behind her and its antennae moved restlessly, but this time even it did not move forward.

Lian was still there beside the fourth remaining chain.

Three chains had already been broken, and every time a wave of darkness was pulled from the Titan’s body toward him, his presence became heavier.

The purple light inside his eyes was now almost impossible to ignore.

"Lian." Seris said in a low voice and did not take her eyes off his face.

There was no answer, no movement, no change in his expression, and not even the very short pause that she had seen before when he saw One or when he tried to kill her.

She raised her sword slightly higher.

"If you’re still in there, now would be a very good time to give me a sign." She continued in a cold tone, although the pressure of her hand around the hilt showed how much she was waiting for that very sign.

Lian only looked at her, that look no longer even looked like human indifference.

It was like the look of a creature that did not see a person in front of it, but only saw a living body that was still standing in its path.

Then he moved, he only took one step and Seris could not even see his full movement.

Her instinct screamed before her mind could react and her body moved to the left with all its speed.

The fist passed beside her face and the air behind her exploded.

BOOOOM!

The ground cracked several meters away and dozens of pieces of rock were thrown into the air.

A deep crack stretched from the place of impact several meters forward.

Seris landed on one leg, her eyes widened and she realized a frightening truth.

The Calamity had become stronger, much stronger than when it had come out of the cocoon.

Three chains had been broken, three more parts of the Black Silence had entered that body and the result was standing in front of her.

"Very well, so you’re not talking." The Young Pendragon muttered and lowered her sword.

Lian moved again, this time Seris did not wait, mana rose from her body and she made a counterattack.

[Moonless Severance.]

Her sword moved only once, but the cutting line did not come from the tip of the blade, it appeared almost directly on the neck of the Black Silence.

A skill that removed distance, a skill that even stronger enemies had to take seriously.

But Lian? He only raised two fingers, the cutting line was caught between them, although it was not stopped in the normal way, its path was changed.

The compressed force of the sword split upward and exploded in the air.

Seris froze for a moment, even though she had expected it, seeing the difference in power still left her unsure how to react.

[Thousand Petal swordstorm.]

Her sword moved at an incredible speed.

One strike.

Three strikes.

Seven strikes.

Then it was no longer possible to count them.

Dozens of real sword lines appeared from different angles and filled the entire area around Lian in less than a second.

From above.

Below.

Behind.

From the side.

Blind spots.

The space around the Calamity’s body became a cage of cuts, but he did not even take a step back and his right hand moved, breaking one of the lines with his palm.

He bent his head only a few centimeters and the second line passed beside his ear, his body turned slightly and two cuts passed beside him.

Three more lines hit his chest and arm, his clothes were torn but the skin underneath only received shallow scratches.

She clenched her teeth, every damn attack she made was useless! None of them could even reach him, let alone injure him.

Why was this man so powerful? Where did this power come from?

"Why him?" Seris asked angrily and rushed forward again, her sword moved upward from below.

Lian moved aside and she turned and sent the second attack directly toward his side.

He stopped it with his forearm.

The Young Pendragon used the same force, pulled her body upward and slammed her knee directly into his face.

The young Vorhelm’s head only moved slightly backward ...that was all.

Seris landed on the ground.

"Out of everyone in this world, why did you have to take his body?" She then said in a sharper voice and sent her sword toward his throat again.

Lian grabbed her wrist, very simply, the pressure of his fingers was so strong that the bones in Seris’s wrist immediately began to hurt.

She slammed her foot into his knee but it had no effect....the difference in physical strength was so great that it did nothing.

Lian pulled her and Seris lost her balance and in the next moment—

Her body was slammed into the ground.

BOOOOM!

The air left her lungs, the stone under her back broke and for a moment she could not breathe, as if the air was stuck inside her lungs and could not come back out.

"Haaa." She took deep breaths so air could enter and leave her lungs, for a moment she saw death with her own eyes.

The Black Silence raised his foot and was about to crush her skull, this time there was no pause or hesitation in those eyes, as if there was no longer any Lian inside this body controlling it.

But Seris quickly rolled away and his foot landed on the place where her head had been, the ground sank like soft dirt and a huge crater was formed ...

If she had not pulled back in time, there would probably have been nothing left of her skull ...

She got up from the ground and blood was running from the corner of her lips.

"Wasn’t one body enough?" She said angrily and wiped the blood with the back of her hand, among all the possible vessels, the damn Calamity had chosen the body of a monster.

The answer was silence again, this silence was making her even angrier.

"Go back into that damn Titan." Seris growled and attacked again.

[King’s Breaker.]

This time her attack went directly toward his shoulder joint and all the mana of her sword was gathered at one point, if it hit, even Lian’s strong body should at least be damaged for a moment.

But the Black Silence took one step forward, broke the distance and closed his hand around Seris’s forearm.

His body turned and the girl was lifted from the ground and slammed into the rock beside her again, the stone cracked and she fell among the broken pieces.

For several seconds, the only sound she could hear was the distant battle.

Magic explosions.

The sound of huge chains colliding.

Rindo’s shouts.

The sound of Darian’s bow firing.

But to Seris, all of them were far away, the only thing in front of her was that face.

Lian’s face, and that made her even more angry than any attack, she pulled herself out from the broken rocks.

"That face isn’t yours." She said very quietly this time, but the anger in her voice was even colder than before.

The Black Silence looked at her for a moment, again there was no reaction.

This time One moved, the giant ant that had seen everything from several meters away raised its antennae.

It opened the Hive Link, the feeling was immediately sent toward Lian.

The same thing that had always existed between them.

Master.

Loyalty.

Recognition.

Return.

One took a step forward, Seris gave it a short look, something moved inside her.

Maybe.

Maybe the same thing that had caused Lian to pause before would return again.

One raised its antenna slightly.

Lian looked at it but ....there was no pause, no trembling in the purple light of his eyes and no visible change in his expression, and his hand rose.

Seris understood at that exact moment.

"One!" She shouted and threw herself forward.

Lian’s attack was coming directly toward the ant’s head, the Young Pendragon threw herself between them.

Her sword rose horizontally, the fist hit the blade and the sound of metal spread through the entire area.

The sword bent in the middle and Seris’s body was thrown backward, her back hit One’s front armor and both of them were dragged several meters across the ground and she vomited blood.

If the attack had hit the ant’s body directly, even its natural armor probably could not have protected its bones.

Seris painfully moved herself away from One’s body, her hand was trembling.

Not from fear but from something worse, from realizing that maybe there was no Lian left anymore...he had paused before, twice, he had paused twice when attacking them.

Now? Nothing.

Even One could no longer cause any reaction from him ...

She looked at Lian for several seconds, for the first time she accepted the real possibility, maybe there was no one inside that body anymore.

Maybe those previous pauses were only the last movements of something that was now completely silent.

Maybe Lian was gone.
