I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 381: Battle With The Calamity ( Final )Suddenly, light filled everything.
White and golden, so intense that no one could see anything for a moment and the entire cemetery was drowned in that light.
Then—
Crack.
A small sound that was almost funny compared to the huge chain, but everyone heard it.
"No..." Seraphina whispered in a very low voice, she realized that the Last Command skill had also completely shut down.
The crack on the last ring spread.
One meter.
Ten meters.
The entire surface of the chain and then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The last seal collapsed, a wave of force swallowed the entire area.
Seris was lifted off the ground, One threw himself in front of her and the ant’s body was thrown several meters back.
Tavern fell to the ground, Rindo stabbed his sword into the dirt and Darian put one knee on the ground.
The four moving corpses were also forced to move back.
[Warning.]
[All seals have been destroyed.]
[Corrupted Titan Awakening: 100%]
[The Corrupted Titan has awakened.]
For one second nothing happened--
Then the eye opened.
The Titan’s eye was so huge that from the group’s distance it looked more like a black lake than the eye of a living creature.
The pupil moved, the ground started to rise.
It was not shaking, it was as if the ground itself was rising, the rocks that had gathered on the Titan’s body for centuries fell from its shoulder and chest.
Part of the mountain collapsed, its huge hand slowly separated from the ground and then the Titan roared.
The sound did not only enter their ears, it entered their bones!
Seris felt her entire chest shaking from inside, the dirt under their feet moved like a wave and in the distance, beasts and monsters fled from the cemetery.
Of course, many of the monsters in the Giant Cemetery had already been killed by the five Cindari, including the Warden that had chased Lian and Seris in the past.
And now the remaining ones also fled in fear.
The roar passed through the Giant Forest.
It reached Glacethorn.
It went farther and even reached Emberroot, and the walls of Vhalaris shook.
The sky moved like the surface of water for a moment, some Awakened fell to the ground and covered their ears.
But Black Silence only watched.
There was no fear, no surprise and not even clear satisfaction in his eyes, as if everything that was happening was exactly what he had expected.
The Titan moved its huge head, its black eye fell on Lian’s small body, its giant hand rose.
Maybe to attack.
Maybe it was only the remaining instinct of a guardian that had been buried under corruption for years.
But Black Silence did not wait, Lian’s body separated from the ground, a mass of darkness formed under his feet and carried him toward the Titan’s head.
Seris wanted to move but the pressure from the Titan’s presence almost forced her onto her knees.
"Lian!" she shouted angrily and tried to move forward.
It was useless.
Black Silence landed on the Titan’s huge forehead, a human standing on the head of a creature that was like a mountain.
His hand rose and slowly touched the Titan’s cracked black skin.
He only whispered one word.
"Return." But that one word was more than enough.
The Titan suddenly froze and one moment later darkness came out of its body, first from its eye, then from the cracks in its skin, from its huge veins, from its chest, from its mouth and simply from its entire body, billions of dark strands were pulled into the air.
There were so many that the sky could not be seen for several seconds.
They all moved toward one point.
Lian.
Black Silence was taking himself back, the parts that had remained trapped inside the Titan for years.
The Titan roared, but this time its voice was different, the roar was not anger...it was pain.
Pain that had lasted for hundreds of years was passing through its body in one moment, darkness came out of its huge eye.
The color of its pupil slowly changed, black to gray and then to a lighter color.
After centuries, there was something in that eye that looked like real awareness.
Not madness, not corruption but tiredness, only tiredness, the guardian of the Primordial Root had finally returned, it had finally gotten its awareness back.
But its freedom did not mean salvation, as soon as the last dark strands left the Titan’s body, its huge skin started to dry.
At first there were only a few cracks, then hundreds and the muscles under its skin shrank, the limbs that had been like mountains only moments ago became thin at a terrifying speed.
Seris watched in shock.
"What is happening?" Liana asked in shock while holding the half-conscious Seraphina.
Aren looked at the Titan from a distance.
In fact, everyone was looking at that scene, the battle had stopped and the four Cindari who had regained their ability to fly were standing in the sky and acting like a wall, not allowing any of these humans to disturb their master.
And now everyone was looking at whether the Titan was...dying?
The Primordial Root no longer existed, it had been destroyed thousands of years ago, its remains, the Forgotten Tree, was also dead now.
The Titan had always depended on that life network, as the guardian of the Primordial Root, after the death of the purpose of its life, it had no reason to stay alive anymore.
The only thing that had kept this creature alive after the destruction of the Root and centuries of imprisonment was the corruption of Black Silence.
The same thing that had imprisoned it, the same thing that had broken its mind, that same thing had also stopped its body from completely dying.
And now it was gone.
The Titan opened its eye one last time, its gaze was no longer black, it was calm, tired and for a fraction of a second, something like relief could be seen in it.
Then its eyelid closed, its huge body collapsed and the creature that had finally been allowed to die after hundreds of years.
Its head fell to the ground.
BOOOOOOM!
The entire cemetery shook, a wave of dust rose into the sky.
And above it, Lian was still floating, the last dark strand entered his body, this time the reaction was nothing like the previous times.
His body suddenly rose several meters higher, his back bent, his fingers opened and the purple light in his eyes changed into something almost white-purple.
A huge shadow appeared behind his body, not a human shadow but something much larger...its shape was not stable, for a moment it looked like a huge mouth and the next moment something like long horns, then maybe wings.
But no one could remember its real shape, every time someone focused their eyes on it, its shape changed.
It was as if the minds of living creatures were simply not made to understand the true appearance of Black Silence.
Several very thin black lines appeared for a moment on Lian’s neck and hands, but his body was still the same body.
Lian’s face, Lian’s hands, Lian’s human body and only the presence behind it was no longer something that could be called human.
A huge panel appeared in front of everyone.
[Black Silence has been completed.]
[All parts of the Calamity have merged with the Host.]
[Complete manifestation has begun.]
[Warning! Main Quest has failed.]
Seris’s eyes stayed on the panel for a moment and then another panel appeared only in front of her.
[Calamity Destruction Condition: 1/2]
[Remaining Target: Host.]
Her gaze slowly moved down, onto Lian.
There was no Anchor left, the Titan was dead and all of Black Silence was gathered inside one body.
If the system was correct, only one thing remained to destroy the Calamity now.
Kill the Host.
Kill Lian.
"I don’t like this situation..." she said very quietly and no one could understand whether most of her anger was toward the Calamity or toward the situation that was forcing her to do this.
The white-purple light of Lian’s eyes shone through the dust, the huge shadow behind him spread wider, everyone thought that Black Silence had won.
Cindar was dead, the seven chains had been broken, the Titan had awakened and then been emptied of its corruption.
All the scattered parts of the Calamity were now gathered inside one body, exactly what Black Silence wanted.
But Seris did not know.
Rindo did not know.
No one knew.
Even Black Silence itself did not know.
Gathering all the parts of the Calamity inside one body, breaking the seals and completing Black Silence was not only the Calamity’s wish.
It was also what the true Lian wanted!
