Lian stared at the message in front of his eyes for several seconds while sitting on the edge of the bed.
He expected something to happen immediately; pain, a burst of mana, a change or something like that but nothing happened and the room remained silent.
"That’s it?".
One second passed.
Two seconds.
Then suddenly ...
Thump.
Lian suddenly sat up straight.
His heartbeat was so heavy that he could not only feel it inside his chest, but the dull sound of it also spread through the room.
His eyes narrowed.
Thump.
The second heartbeat was even heavier and pain came with it.
He breathed out hard and pressed his hand against the edge of the bed, something deep inside his bones had started to move; not breaking, but changing.

The quiet but continuous sound of bones moving came from inside his body.
His spine slowly stretched.
His vertebrae became denser and stronger, and the bones in his shoulders slowly expanded to the sides.
His ribcage also became slightly larger, as if his body was being redesigned to handle a pressure that a normal human body should never have to handle.
Lian clenched his teeth, the pain was bearable.
After what he had endured in the spiritual space against Black Silence, this was not even close to the worst thing he had experienced.
But it was strange, he could feel every single change.
His muscle tissues began to rebuild.
It was not that his muscles became extremely large; instead, the visible difference was not that great, but every muscle fiber became thicker, denser and several times more efficient.
The power of his contractions increased, his connective tissues became stronger, and his tendons and joints were rebuilt so his body could produce more force without breaking under that force.
Lian closed his right fist, even this simple movement felt different from before.
He felt that if he wanted, he could release much more force from the same muscle he had possessed only a few minutes ago.
"So it wasn’t just the numbers on the panel." He looked at his hand with more interest.
The evolution was changing his body itself.
The process continued for several minutes and he clearly felt his legs become slightly longer.
His arms also became slightly longer.
His shoulders became wider and even when he stood up from the bed, he noticed that his angle of view of the room had changed slightly.
It seemed that a few centimeters had been added to his body, not enough to turn him into a completely different person but enough for him to notice it himself.
His weight had also increased.
Much more than what a few centimeters of extra height and a small amount of muscle should have caused.
The wooden floor of the room made a quiet sound when he took a step.
He looked down, the density of his bones was no longer like the bones of a normal human and his muscles were the same.
The system immediately confirmed this.

Lian looked at the message for several seconds, so he was still human, his race had not changed but what was now under his human skin could no longer be considered completely human.
The biological structure of his body was no longer the structure a human had, his appearance was still the same, but everything under it now belonged to a monster.
"Interesting, but why did the race remain the same when the biological structure changed?". Lian said quietly and thought for a moment.
If the biological structure changed then the race should change too, unless humans viewed races differently from how the system viewed races.
Then another pressure formed inside his body, in the center of his mana network.
At first the pressure was only a small point, then it turned into something like an empty space.
A "chamber".
It was as if his body was creating a space that was meant to hold something very special.
Mana was pulled toward that point for several seconds.
He frowned for a moment but before he could react, the flow stopped again.
[Monster Core Chamber has been formed.]
[The holder is now capable of forming Monster Cores.]
[Monster Cores: 0]
Lian stared at the new section.
A core.
Monsters had cores, those cores were both a source of power and an important part of their biological and mana structure and their main source of power and energy.
As far as he knew, the cores of powerful monsters also had different abilities, but to be sure he would have to look into this more carefully and research it later.
And now his body also had the ability to form them.
Then the temperature of the room suddenly dropped.
At first he did not even notice and it took several seconds for his eyes to move toward the window, a thin layer of ice had formed in the corner of the glass.
Then it slowly spread and Lian’s breath became white when he breathed out.
But he did not feel any cold himself, not even a little, and white ice started moving from under his feet across the floor of the room.
At first it was only a few centimeters.
Then one meter.
Two meters.
Within a few moments, a large part of the floor was covered by a thin layer of ice.
He looked down, he had not activated any skill yet but the ice was spreading everywhere.
"Is this also part of the evolution?"
There was no answer but the change was not over yet and at the deepest point of his existence, the Ruined Heart beat once.
Thump.
Lian immediately felt it, this heartbeat was different from the physical heart in his body and for a fraction of a second, the inside of the Ruined Heart appeared in his mind.
Five slots.
Four empty slots.
And on the fifth slot, the form of Black Silence and the purple aura around the statue became visible for a moment and then disappeared.

He kept his eyes on the message for several seconds.
"Ruined Heart."
Again.
Every time something unusual happened in his structure, this unknown thing was somewhere inside it.
But once again there was no explanation and it was still unclear why the sudden change had happened.
A few seconds later, all the pain from the changes in his body stopped almost at the same time.
Lian took a calm breath, as if it was finally over and the next moment the system also confirmed it.

A very faint smile appeared on his face.
"Finally."
But before he could even check the condition of his own body, the first panel appeared.
Then the second.
The third.
Ten.
Twenty.
And suddenly hundreds of messages opened in front of his eyes.
"Damn... calm down!".
The system seemed to notice his anger and closed all the extra panels and notifications.
"Alright, now one by one."
The first group of messages was related to his level.

He had gained 250 points from the Quest and another 300 points from the three stored levels.
"So now I get 100 stats for every level up." He smiled, compared to the previous number he received for each level up, this was a tenfold increase.
In a way, just through level ups, he could gain around 2,000 stat points by reaching level 40, which was the next level cap.
But these 2,000 stat points were not enough to reach the next maximum stat limit, because the next limit was 10,000 stats.
Of course, this limit was for other classes and especially five-star classes, considering that his limits were different from others, he might need much more stats to reach his next cap.
Lian immediately decided to look at the next messages before worrying about it.
A new status panel opened in front of him.
