[Simulated Monster.]

[Fallen Sky Predator.]

[Tier: Fallen.]

[Level: 23.]

The wind passed strongly beside Lian’s face.

There was no ground under his feet, and the huge sea of black clouds stretched hundreds of meters below him.

The destination island was still dozens of meters away, and now a creature with two fifteen-meter wings was coming directly toward him.

Could things get any better?

The Fallen Sky Predator opened its mouth, and a row of long, curved teeth appeared inside its beak.

Its two huge claws opened under its body and it dived toward Lian at a terrifying speed, it was clear that it did not intend to simply knock him out of the way.

If those claws reached the body of a normal Level 23 Awakened, a large part of his body would probably be turned into pieces of flesh before the protective seal activated.

He looked at the creature for a few moments, then his eyes returned to the island in front of him.

"Really?" He let out a short sigh and lowered his right hand.

A sudden cold exploded around him.

Frost Dominion.

The moisture in the air froze in a fraction of a second and the sound of cracking ice spread right below Lian’s feet.

An ice platform about one meter below his feet formed.

He landed on it.

Crack!

His knee bent slightly, but before the platform could crack under his weight, a second platform formed a few meters ahead in the empty space.

Then he jumped.

The third platform.

The fourth platform.

The fifth platform.

In less than a few seconds, the young man who had been falling through the sky a moment ago was now moving several hundred meters above the sea of black clouds on a path that he created with every step.

He did not create a complete bridge, he did not need to, creating that much ice would only waste mana.

Each time, only one or two platforms formed in front of his feet, and immediately after he passed them, the previous platforms cracked under the pressure and fell into the depths of the clouds.

The roar of the Fallen Sky Predator spread through the sky again and the huge creature changed its path.

Lian only gave it a short look and the bird moved its right wing with all its strength.

Boom!

A strong wave of wind formed in the sky and the ice platform in front of him exploded before his foot could reach it.

Dozens of pieces of ice spread through the air and the platform under his feet also broke.

"Damn that bastard bird." His body began to fall again.

The Predator came down from above and opened its two black claws.

This time, the distance was so short that Lian could see the details of the gray scales on its legs.

The monster wanted to tear him apart right there in the air.

The young Vorhelm also lowered his hand and another ice platform formed right below his feet.

Thunder Step.

Blue lightning exploded around his right foot.

Crack!

"Since you want it this way, let me teach you a lesson." The ice platform under the pressure of his power shattered and his body shot out from its place like a bullet.

But not toward the island, instead, he shot directly toward the Predator and the creature’s red eyes changed for a moment.

This reaction probably did not exist in the information the test had created for it.

Lian opened his right hand and the air around his arm froze.

Ice crystals formed over his skin and in one moment turned into a huge claw with long and clear blades.

[Glacial Reaper Claw]

The bird brought its own claw forward and the two attacks collided in the sky.

Boom!

The impact wave exploded around them.

Three ice blades broke, but the bird’s huge claw was also pushed away from its path.

Lian’s body passed beside it and he swung his ice claw.

Slash!

Glacial Reaper Claw passed through the root of the Predator’s left wing.

No blood came out, instead, hundreds of blue and red mana particles spread through the air from the huge cut that had opened on its wing.

The bird screamed and its damaged wing stopped working for a moment, causing its huge body to spin in the air.

But Vorhelm also had no surface under his feet anymore and gravity was pulling his body down.

But he did not even look down and an ice platform formed beside his right foot, he stepped on it and changed the direction of his fall.

The second.

The third.

Each platform existed for only a moment, and on the fourth one, Thunder Step activated again.

Lian’s body was thrown forward and the remaining distance to the island disappeared in a few seconds, his hand reached the rocky edge and his fingers dug into the stone.

With one movement, he pulled himself up and landed on the ground, and at the same time, a terrifying roar came from behind him.

Lian turned around.

The Predator had tried to correct its path with its damaged wing, but it was already too late.

Its body crashed into the wall of the island at great speed.

Boom!

Part of the cliff exploded.

Cracks several meters long spread across the wall and the bird’s body was buried among the rocks.

It was still moving for two seconds, then it stopped, and at the same time, its body turned into thousands of pieces of light and the wind spread them across the sea of clouds.

[Simulated Monster defeated.]

[Unconventional Traversal completed.]

[Adaptive Evaluation updated.]

Lian looked at the notifications for a few moments.

"For a bastard that attacked with that much confidence, didn’t you die a little too quickly?" Then he snorted.

Although the bird was annoying, he had become a little more familiar with his Frost Dominion and had partly understood how it worked.

The ability to create ice from nothing was much more useful than he had expected and could be a great help.

Then he looked around.

The second island was completely different from the previous one.

The gray forest had been replaced by a dry and red land.

Huge rocks rose throughout the area and narrow valleys stretched between them like deep wounds in the ground.

Stone pillars sometimes reached hundreds of meters in height, and hot steam came out from cracks in the ground.

The wind howled between the valleys.

He moved without stopping, now he was almost certain that each island had been designed to test a different type of ability.

Only three minutes had passed when a panel appeared in front of his eyes.

[Performance Evaluation completed.]

[Previous challenges insufficient.]

"Now you understand that you shouldn’t underestimate me? If you want to entertain me, at least send something stronger." Lian said with a slightly amused expression.

It seemed that the academy system had heard his words, and suddenly the notification changed.

[Adaptive difficulty increased.]

The ground shook.

This time, the shaking did not come from the whole island, only the area in front of him and the red rocks a few meters ahead began to crack.

Pieces of the ground rose into the air, and thick lines of mana formed between them, pulling the rocks toward one point.

First, two legs formed, then the body, two arms, and finally an armor, its final form was a human figure made of stone.

But it was not a normal human.

It was more than two and a half meters tall and its entire body was covered in black and gray armor.

The armor plates were locked together without any gaps and a smooth helmet with no opening covered its entire face.

A sword almost as tall as itself was in its hand, and the tip of the sword dragged across the ground, the sound of metal scratching against stone spread through the valley.

The panel in front of Lian changed.

[Composite Challenge generated.]

[Crownless Executioner.]

[Rank: Fallen.]

[Level: 30.]

Lian’s eyes remained on the last number for a few moments.

30.

Not only was it seven levels higher than his registered Level, it was also a Fallen Monster.

If the normal Level standard was used, sending such a creature against a Level 23 Awakened was almost ridiculous.

In fact, a group of hundreds of Rank 30 Awakened would be needed to kill such a monster.

"Looks like my words upset you a little." Lian gave a very faint smile.

He was sure that the academy teachers were watching him, and the sudden increase in difficulty was very large.

A Level 30 Fallen was not something to joke with, defeating it was not going to be easy even for him.

Another notification appeared.

[Combat Model: Adaptive.]

[Recorded Combat Patterns loaded.]

This time, his smile did not disappear.

So it had not only made it stronger, all the information the academy system had collected until now had also been given to it, it had basically been created only to kill him.

The knight lifted its sword from the ground and disappeared, and Lian’s eyes opened slightly wider for a fraction of a second.

It was fast.

Much faster than what the size of the creature suggested.

Suddenly, the sword came down from above and he moved his body to the side.

Whoosh!

The blade passed a few centimeters above his shoulder and struck the ground.

Boom!

The rock under them split and an almost ten-meter-long cut opened on the ground, sending pieces of stone into the air.

If Lian had received that attack directly, even his body after the First Evolution would not have been able to endure it without damage.
