I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 171 - 127: Fishing Club 2

Chapter 171: Chapter 127: Fishing Club 2

After eating, he helped clean up, then went to the entrance to check on the 1.5-meter Ugly Country fish.

Perhaps because the fish on display were getting smaller and smaller, far fewer customers were being drawn in by a big catch than before.

’Looks like I’ll have to display some better-looking or more expensive fish.’

The greater-than-four-meter spearfish inside the refrigerated display would have been perfect. Putting it out would be a guaranteed eye-catcher, but unfortunately, it wouldn’t fit on the three-wheeled cart.

’Maybe I should buy a couple of tables to set up at the entrance?’

Gu Nan thought this was a pretty good idea. There didn’t seem to be a need to custom-build a three-meter-long display stand.

Expanding the fish tank hadn’t been too much trouble. The cement worker finished the whole job in just two days.

It would have been faster, but Gu Nan specifically requested tile be laid, making it look like a swimming pool.

He’d gone out to sea the last couple of days, but he hadn’t spent much time actually fishing. He let his counter for the Fengqi Coast build up, treating it as a mini-vacation.

Besides, he had accumulated a lot of guaranteed catches and wanted to see if he could hook a Giant-class or larger Elite BOSS.

Once the tank and display stand were finished, Yi Chen was finally freed up. She no longer had to stay in the shop all afternoon like before.

So, Gu Nan simply took her on a trip to Bazhou City and bought the truck he’d been wanting.

It was a small hybrid pickup for deliveries and hauling. Including insurance and other fees, it cost him a total of 170,000 yuan. The three-wheeler was officially getting retired.

A lot of domestic vehicles are hybrids now. Running on electricity is definitely cheaper than gas, and you can always switch to gas when the battery runs out.

Gu Nan’s truck had a theoretical electric range of a hundred kilometers, which was more than enough for driving around the city.

The pickup could handle deliveries, but for a four-meter-plus India spearfish, Zhao Jie would still have to come pick it up himself, or Gu Nan would have to pay a shipping fee for a refrigerated truck to deliver it.

No helping it; the fish was just too big.

As for a sedan, Gu Nan hadn’t picked one out yet. Now that he had the pickup, he was in even less of a hurry. The only one in a rush was the salesperson who wanted to close the deal.

Given the market over the past two years, the number of people buying cars and houses had plummeted. It was a tough time to be in sales!

In broad daylight, there were plenty of parking spots next to the seafood market. Gu Nan easily found a spot and parked.

Just as he and Yi Chen, who had been in the passenger seat, got out of the truck, he saw An Jun already waiting at the entrance to the seafood market.

"Well, look at you. Got nothing better to do?"

"You bought a new truck! I had to come get a treat from the big spender, didn’t I?" An Jun grinned, circling the vehicle. He opened the door and peeked inside. "Not bad. You finally have a proper ride now!"

Gu Nan smiled. "This one’s mainly for hauling. I’ll probably buy a sedan later when I find one I like."

An Jun was slightly surprised to hear that, then teased, "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Look at Mr. Moneybags!"

"Get out of here," Gu Nan said. "What’s up with you today? Why were you waiting for me at the entrance?" He had originally planned to hang out in the city with Yi Chen for a while, but he had to come back after hearing this guy was looking for him.

"I’m bored. Came to see if you had anything fun going on." An Jun spread his hands. "I stopped making seafood videos, and a bunch of my followers left. I don’t really care, but I need to find something to do to make some money."

"Seems like you make a decent amount from fishing. I’m thinking of getting a boat to go out to sea for fun. I’ll sell you whatever I catch on the cheap."

"Hah, as if I need that!" Gu Nan rolled his eyes. Just another one of his fleeting passions.

"I’m telling you, you’ve got too much time on your hands. Why don’t you be like Ye Jing and open a pet shop for a chill career? Pet shops don’t make a ton of money, but it’s a good ’retirement’ gig."

"If I had that kind of damn patience, I would! Stop giving me such lousy ideas!" An Jun was exasperated. If it were a good fit for him, he would’ve opened one long ago; he didn’t need someone to suggest it now.

"Then what do you want to do?" Gu Nan pressed the key fob to lock the truck, then started walking toward his shop. The sun was scorching, and he had no desire to get baked.

"What do you think about me going out to sea to fish, just like you?" An Jun asked after a moment of thought.

After Gu Nan had taken him fishing twice, he had started going out frequently on his own whenever he was bored. He’d done a lot of research on gear, buying an iso rod and two lure rods, along with reels, lines, and other miscellaneous equipment. He’d already spent over ten thousand yuan.

There’s a reason so many people stick to platform fishing—lure fishing is expensive!

An Jun wasn’t obsessed with fishing yet, but he had definitely found a hobby that could keep him occupied, which was why he asked.

"Have you been fishing recently?" Gu Nan stared at him for a few seconds before asking.

An Jun nodded. "Yeah, I’ve already spent over ten thousand on gear."

Gu Nan immediately understood his friend’s situation and what he was thinking. They had grown up together and knew each other very well.

So, he shook his head and advised, "You finally found a decent hobby. Don’t turn it into a job and burn out all your passion for it."

Yi Chen had been listening for a while and finally understood the situation. Thinking about how to bring more business to their own shop, she tentatively suggested, "Why not open a seafood restaurant? It would be a business for you. You could hire someone to help manage it, and you’d still be free to do whatever you want in your spare time."

Gu Nan instantly smiled. He couldn’t help but pat her head and nod in agreement. "That’s a great idea. I think you really could open a seafood restaurant. I can supply you with the ingredients."

"Get lost! So that when I lose a ton of money and go bankrupt, you’re the only one making a huge profit, right?" An Jun rejected the idea without a second thought.

Opening a restaurant was not that easy. It was more than likely a money-losing venture.

"I’d be better off opening a seafood shop. I might actually make some money getting my stock from you."

Gu Nan’s mouth twitched. He knew An Jun was just talking. Otherwise, he would have said whatever it took to convince his friend to drop the idea.
