I Can Program My Body?

Chapter 706: The Race to Build Dark Gates

Planning to check on the development of the Neon Star Alliance, Nash came out of seclusion and called Julius.

"Supreme Leader," Julius bowed in greeting.

"How is the alliance holding up? Did you settle the danger around the dark gate?"

"Not yet, we still need about a month to completely settle the danger. After that, we should only need to rely on the Neon Defense System."

"That’s good."

Once the dark gate danger was dealt with, production of the Neon Defense Module and the Dark Energy Purification Device could resume.

"Once production continues, what shall we do with them, Supreme Leader? Should we keep them or sell them?"

"Keep all the Neon Defense Modules in production. As for the Purification Devices, keep 70% of our output until we’ve accumulated 200 billion purification devices. Sell the rest for void source crystals and rare materials for the dark gates."

"Is there anything else, Supreme Leader?"

"Yes, once production resumes, quickly sell a batch of dark purification devices for the materials needed for three dark gates. I’ll contact the Chronos Alliance to help us build them."

"I’m afraid that’s not possible..." Julius sighed, explaining the current situation among the other major and top-level teams.

After discovering the benefits of dark gates, every team had gone all out with their construction. Major teams began building them in the dozens, while top-level teams built 3-5 simultaneously.

As a result of this surge in demand, the materials needed for a dark gate had skyrocketed from 250 quintillion to over 500 quintillion. However, price wasn’t the real problem. The problem was finding people to build them.

"I see... I’ll call Hanna and see how many scientists she can send to help us."

Feeling the weight of the problem’s urgency, Nash quickly took out his intercom and called Hanna.

"Nash? What’s the matter? Do you need something?"

"Yes, we plan to build a few dark gates simultaneously. Do you have available people to help us?"

"Unfortunately, that’s not possible. We can send you one group to build one dark gate, but more than that is out of the question."

Although the dark energy purification device was important, it wasn’t something they couldn’t do without. Even if dark energy continued to condense, spawning more dark beasts, it was nothing their forces couldn’t handle.

Furthermore, while they couldn’t mass-produce dark technology capable of purifying dark energy, they could still construct one. With a large enough workforce, they could even surpass the Neon Star Alliance’s production capacity.

The only real advantage of the dark purification device was that it was cheap, fast, and didn’t require wasting their own manpower.

"One is enough. I’ll think of other options."

"Alright, when do you plan to build them?"

"In a month, the situation here should stabilize. We’ll build the dark gate by then."

"Hmm, understood."

After coming to an agreement about the schedule, they negotiated the price, which was still 10 billion units of purification devices.

After settling the matter, Nash’s thoughts returned to the problem. Building dark gates one by one was far too inefficient. By the time he finished ten, others would have already constructed hundreds. If he didn’t want to fall too far behind, Nash needed more capable people.

"What about the Mechanical Race..." Nash suddenly thought.

It had been over a year and a half since the Altier Convention, where he had come to an agreement with the Supreme Leader of the Mechanical Race. However, because of their limited production capacity and the need to prioritize their friends and neighbors, the Mechanical Race had been overlooked.

Scrolling through his list of contacts, Nash found the liaison Primos had assigned him.

"Hello, this is Kryon, a representative of the Mechanical Race. Are you Nash Navre of the Neon Star Alliance?"

"Yes."

"Identity confirmed... May I ask what you need? Is it regarding the dark energy purification device?"

"Yes, I’d like to hand over the sale of the purification device to you in exchange for void source crystals and dark gate materials. Additionally, can I ask if you can spare manpower to help us build a dark gate?"

"Retrieving agreement... Contacting the Mechanical Supreme for confirmation... Permission granted."

"According to the agreement, the Mechanical Race will help you sell the dark energy purification device while retaining 20% of the items. Is this correct?"

"Yes."

"Additional clause added... The Neon Star Alliance may borrow a group of scientists to build a dark gate... Payment is 10 billion units of purification devices. Do you agree?"

"Yes."

"Agreement confirmed. According to analysis, the Neon Star Alliance does not currently possess the necessary materials for a dark gate. Would you like to borrow from the Mechanical Race? The interest rate is only 3% per annum; if repaid before the deadline, there is no interest. Do you wish to proceed?"

This time, Nash paused for a moment, but still agreed.

Although he could buy the materials from the Azure Heaven Alliance at a lower price and with no interest, he didn’t want to exhaust their friendship over such an amount. What’s more, he planned to use that goodwill to request another group of scientists to build yet another dark gate.

In this way, they could build three dark gates simultaneously: one from the Chronos Alliance, one from the Mechanical Race, and one from the Azure Heaven Alliance.

In the future, once more dark gates were available, he could use time acceleration to hasten the training of his own people so they could eventually build a dark gate independently.

Soon, after clarifying more details from the sale terms for the dark energy purification device, when the Mechanical Race scientists would be needed, the terms of work, and the price of the dark gate materials, Kryon compiled their agreement and sent it to the database of the Mechanical Race.

"Pleasure doing business with you. You can call me anytime you have questions."

"Hmm, likewise..."

After dealing with the Mechanical Race, Nash quickly called the Azure Heaven Alliance for help. Having had countless shared experiences together, they quickly agreed to send a group of scientists over. They even asked if he needed more materials for the dark gate.

Ending the call, Nash rubbed his temples, feeling tired. Comprehending knowledge for thousands of years hadn’t been nearly as exhausting as this.

"Don’t worry, Supreme Leader. I will do my best to train a batch of scientists who can independently build a dark gate." Julius comforted him, sensing the helplessness Nash felt.

Always depending on others, always seeking help, always in a lower position, if they didn’t fix this problem, they would be strangled sooner or later.

"Hmm, just do your best. I’ll continue my seclusion."

"Leave it to me, Supreme Leader." Julius patted his chest with determination.
