I Can Reincarnate Infinitely
Chapter 278 - 273: Your Sword Intent Has Attained PerfectionUnder the cover of night, Jiang Yu stood atop the highest point of the Sixth Marquis’s Mansion, a thousand zhang away, gazing toward the Duke Ju’s Mansion.
He remained silent for a long, long time.
The cold wind blew with all its might, but it could not dispel the gloom in his heart.
The person beside him urged, "Hurry up. Now that you’ve made your decision, don’t be so sentimental."
Jiang Yu said wistfully, "I’ve doomed them... When Baili Jianxin sees I’m not there, he’ll surely slaughter them all to vent his rage. Master, could you go and bring my mother here?"
The person beside him had an effeminate, handsome face, looking like a young man in his twenties, but his immense Magical Power revealed him to be a Foundation Establishment Cultivator.
He chuckled darkly. "If you want to personally kill your mother to sever your emotions and desires, then I’m willing to go to the trouble. That Baili Jianxin may be at Foundation Establishment, but he only just broke through. It would be difficult for me to kill him, but just snatching one person from his grasp is no problem at all. But... can you bring yourself to do it?"
Jiang Yu thought for a moment and shook his head. "How could I possibly do that? She’s my mother. I would never kill her, no matter what."
"Then let me tell you," the master said, "if I bring your mother here and you can’t bring yourself to kill her, then I will have to kill you. Those are the rules of our Emotionless Sect."
Jiang Yu fell silent.
After a long moment, he said, "Master, let’s go."
The Foundation Establishment Cultivator said, "You bungled the mission this time. Your failure to seize the token has greatly displeased the Master. While there were some unexpected factors, the Master only ever looks at the results, not the process."
Jiang Yu replied, "I understand."

Jiang Wang was a Postnatal Peak master. A few jugs of wine were not enough to get him drunk.
His wife, however, was an ordinary person. After just a few cups, her aged face was flushed, her eyes grew hazy, and she was clearly past her limit.
Only then did the old servant come in to clear the table. Du Youqian was speechless. ’I’ve been waiting for hours for my tea,’ he thought, ’and it still hasn’t arrived.’
Jiang Wang wondered aloud, "Jiang Yu is usually back by this time. Could something have happened? And Hong’Er should have returned as well."
Just then, someone pounded on the mansion’s outer gates. For such a grand Duke’s Mansion, there wasn’t even a single servant boy on gate duty. The old servant had to go open it himself, his legs trembling as he walked.
After a moment, the old servant returned to report, "The young lady says her cousin made her stay the night. She won’t be back this evening."
Of course, Du Youqian had already overheard their exchange. He even knew the real reason Jiang Hong wasn’t coming home.
It was nothing more than this: she had heard her grandfather had dragged a handsome young man home from the streets. Knowing her grandfather all too well, she instantly realized she would be ambushed with a marriage proposal if she returned. So, she fled to the home of her cousin and best friend, whose father was a Count.
Suddenly, a thought struck Du Youqian, and he extended his Divine Sense.
A moment later, a faint smile touched his lips.
’Found you.’
Sensing Jiang Yu on the move, Du Youqian was in no rush. He had a few more cups with Jiang Wang before finally rising to his feet. "Elder Jiang," he said, "as good as this wine is, one shouldn’t overindulge. It has grown late, so I will take my leave. I shall visit again another day."
Jiang Wang’s face was ruddy. "Leaving already, young friend? Aren’t you going to wait for my grandson?"
His wife kicked him from the side.
Jiang Wang glanced down at his wife and sighed. "What do you understand? This young friend is the National Guardian Celestial Master of the Wu Kingdom. His strength must be immeasurable—so far beyond me I can’t even grasp it. He’s not leaving because he’s giving up on revenge. He’s leaving because he knows where Jiang Yu is."
At this, his wife’s face turned deathly pale.
Jiang Wang rubbed his lower back. "Young friend, please wait here for a moment."
He then asked his wife, "Yun’Er, where did I put my sword?"
His wife shot him a glare. "You’re the one who put it away. How should I know?"
Du Youqian let out a soft sigh. "Must it come to this? Elder Jiang, I truly have no wish to cross swords with you."
Jiang Wang laughed heartily. "Young friend, what makes you think I wish to fight you? But... while Jiang Yu has done wrong, I am not so selfless that I can simply stand by and watch you kill my own grandson. Ah, I’m just a petty old man, I suppose. A laughable display, I know!"
Du Youqian nodded. "Your sword—if you mean the one with the Five-Colored Rosary tied to the hilt—is in the third room from the east, resting in a black box on a roof beam."
Jiang Wang stared at Du Youqian, his expression a mixture of shock and suspicion. A moment later, it smoothed into acceptance, and he burst into laughter. "The National Guardian Celestial Master is truly extraordinary!"
"Old man!" his wife cried, grabbing his hand in desperation. "How many years has it been since you’ve fought anyone!"
Jiang Wang gently but firmly shook off his wife’s hand. "No matter how many years have passed," he declared heroically, "I am still the Seven-Star Swordsman! Even the great Four Seasons Sword, Long Youming, once sang the praises of my swordsmanship! Wife, say no more. The affairs of the Jianghu are settled in the Jianghu."
Then, he turned to Du Youqian. "I won’t be holding back. You must give it your all as well, or you may find yourself injured by my sword."
Du Youqian said nothing.
Jiang Wang exited the room and returned a moment later, a Treasure Sword in hand. It had clearly not been maintained in a long time.
Though it was a fine sword, it was obviously not at the Divine Weapon Level; small patches of rust already marred its surface.
He glanced at his wife. She silently stepped back.
"Come! Let’s fight!" Jiang Wang’s fighting spirit surged. His hair and beard seemed to stand on end. His back was no longer stooped, his waist no longer bent. He looked thirty years younger, as if he had returned to the prime of his life in his forties.
But Du Youqian could tell he was using some kind of Martial Arts Secret Technique to stimulate his acupoints. While this could grant him a short burst of immense power, it was extremely harmful to the body, much like the Blood Burning Art of the Demon Sect.
Using it just once would cost him at least three to five years of his life.
Du Youqian brought two fingers together, forming a sword hand. "I am Baili Jianxin, National Guardian Celestial Master of the Wu Kingdom. I have come to seek justice for the hundreds of lives lost at Xianlai Castle. Please, enlighten me!"
Jiang Wang’s expression grew solemn. "I am the Seven-Star Swordsman, Jiang Wang. I fight today only to protect my unfilial grandson. If I win this duel, you must return to the Wu Kingdom, and as long as I draw breath, you may not set foot in the Qi Kingdom again. If you win... then do what you must. Young friend, where is your sword?"
Du Youqian smiled gently. "Every sword under heaven resides within my heart. Take this!"
He used no Magical Power in this strike, yet the unmistakable presence of his Broken Water Sword Intent—an intent that could sever all things—was palpable.
"A fine sword! A fine sword indeed!" A look of feverish delight spread across Jiang Wang’s face. "Young friend, now appraise this strike of mine!"
He raised his sword and thrust. The strike was perfect in its speed, power, and angle. And yet, it was merely a sword of the Mortal World.
Under the blanket of Du Youqian’s Divine Sense, the strike held no secrets from him.
However, within the strike, Du Youqian detected something else: the ’conception’ of Sacrifice.
’Is this... the budding of a Sword Intent?’
He had never imagined that a Mortal could come so close—a single step away—from grasping the basics of Sword Intent.
’In my past lives, when I roamed the Jianghu, I had never encountered anyone who possessed Blade Intent or Sword Intent.’
’But perhaps the Martial Arts of the Mortal World are evolving...’
’Perhaps I should seek out those sword-wielding Innate Grandmasters. I might learn something by drawing parallels.’
As the blade neared Du Youqian’s eyes, its wielder clearly pulled back on its power. Jiang Wang was surprised that Du Youqian hadn’t dodged or even flinched, and he had no intention of actually killing him.
Seeing this hesitation, Du Youqian finally made his decision.
His Broken Water Sword Intent flared. It sliced through Jiang Wang’s sword but stopped short of cutting the old man in two.
The Du Youqian of today could release and retract his Sword Intent with perfect control.
With a gentle push, he sent Jiang Wang flying back into his original seat. The old man’s body was limp and weak, unable to even lift a hand, but Du Youqian’s Magical Power had soothed his over-stimulated acupoints, mitigating the aftereffects of his secret technique.
Only then did the severed half of the sword clatter to the floor.
His wife let out a scream and rushed to his side.
Jiang Wang tried to push his wife away but lacked the strength. He could only stare at Du Youqian in stunned awe. "Young friend, your Sword Intent... it has reached a divine level, far beyond anything I could have imagined. Even the Innate Grandmaster Long Youming, famed for a century for his Four Seasons Sword, does not possess a Sword Intent one ten-thousandth as profound as yours."
Du Youqian closed his eyes.
After a moment, he opened them again and held out his hand. In his palm rested an Elixir, its inner light subtly contained.
"Take it," Du Youqian said, his tone leaving no room for refusal.
Jiang Wang said nothing. He simply forced his limp, powerless hand to move, took the Elixir, and swallowed it in one go.
His wife, beside him, was also silent. She just watched him, a sad, bitter smile on her face.
’If her old man was to die, she would simply follow him.’
As the Elixir went down, Jiang Wang could sense it was not a poison. He looked up in astonishment. "Young friend, what is this?"
Du Youqian said calmly, "The hundreds of lives from my clan demand a debt of blood. I will never let Jiang Yu go."
Jiang Wang’s cheek twitched. "I was defeated by your sword. You may do as you see fit. I am powerless to stop you now."
"Elder Jiang, you have lived a life of honor, heroism, and righteousness. I cannot allow your family line to end with you. This Elixir will restore your body and guarantee that you can still father a child within the next few years. However... whether your wife will allow you to take a concubine is something I cannot help you with."
Without waiting to see more of their priceless expressions, he cupped his hands in a brief salute and drifted away.
A long while after Du Youqian had gone, the old servant finally entered with a kettle of water, muttering to himself, "Brew the tea, brew the tea... Huh? My lord, where did the guest go?"
Jiang Wang and his wife could only stare at each other, utterly speechless.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jiang Yu was rushing toward the mountain gates of the Emotionless Sect with his master, when suddenly, his master stopped dead and spun around in terror.
Jiang Yu was baffled, but then he heard a trace of fear in his master’s voice. "Might I ask why a fellow Daoist is pursuing us so relentlessly?"
A moment later, Du Youqian emerged from the darkness, a smirk playing on his lips. "You know perfectly well why, fellow Daoist. You certainly didn’t sound so polite when you were spying on me from the Sixth Marquis’s Mansion."
