I Can Reincarnate Infinitely
Chapter 293 - 288: If You’re Not the Devil, Who Is?"Your Majesty, why the treason?"
Hearing Master Baili’s familiar voice and the absurd accusation, Emperor Shunde’s first reaction was not anger, but fear.
All of Master Baili’s past miraculous feats flooded his mind, and he couldn’t help but wonder: ’Have I made a mistake?’
But a cold snort from behind reminded Emperor Shunde that he was not alone; an Immortal Master from the Red Lotus Sect stood at his back.
His heart instantly steadied.
He straightened his posture, his expression solemn. In a loud, righteous tone, he declared, "Baili Qing, I have not treated you unfairly, so how do you repay my kindness? You... Mmph, mmph!"
Emperor Shunde suddenly found himself unable to speak. He whipped his head around in panic to look at the Immortal Master behind him.
But the stunningly beautiful Immortal Master now wore an unusually grave expression, all traces of her earlier, confident ease gone.
She glanced at Emperor Shunde and shook her head, then called out, "Mr. Baili, we are disciples of the Red Lotus Sect, acting on behalf of Senior Sister Chuchu, a True Inheritor who has just reached Core Formation. However, we can also cooperate with you, so long as our objective is met."
"Cooperate? You think you’re worthy?" A sharp voice cut through the air. Emperor Shunde watched as Master Baili abruptly appeared before him, his long hair flowing, his entire aura far more profound than before.
A little monkey crouched on Master Baili’s shoulder, peering about curiously.
Before he could get a closer look, his vision went black.
At the same time, THUDs echoed throughout the palace as Palace Maids and eunuchs collapsed one by one.
Du Youqian glanced at Emperor Shunde, whom he had just knocked unconscious. ’I won’t waste any more words on you. I’ll deal with you later.’
Only then did he look up to size up the Red Lotus Sect disciple.
He had just spoken so contemptuously, yet the Red Lotus Sect disciple only opened her alluring lips without a single word escaping. This was because the moment she had finished her previous sentence, Du Youqian had severed her vocal cords with his Sword Intent, silencing her. He then used his Divine Sense to scatter the message she was attempting to transmit telepathically.
Such an aggressive provocation was tantamount to a declaration of war against the group of Red Lotus Sect disciples.
Then again, since they were supporting Emperor Shunde and preparing to drive him out, or even kill him, there was nothing wrong with him making such a declaration.
He studied the Red Lotus Sect disciple for a moment, then shook his head. "Did you travel thousands of miles to the Wu Kingdom Royal Palace just to die? Did you get the Shengxuan Sect’s permission for this? Did you get the Chongzhen Sect’s permission? The Wu Kingdom is Chongzhen Sect’s territory, and the Wu Kingdom Royal Palace is garrisoned by the Shengxuan Sect. This is all based on an ancient agreement. If the Holy Blood Sect found out you were acting so wantonly and breaking this agreement, how would they deal with you? And if the Taihe Sect came to hold you accountable, the Holy Blood Sect wouldn’t protect you to the death, would they? A Core Formation True Inheritor naturally enjoys a transcendent status, but errand-running followers like you will likely end up as souls on the Hundred Ghosts Banner."
Fear appeared on the beautiful Red Lotus Sect disciple’s face. ’How does he know so many inside details!’
There were many things that even they only vaguely understood, yet this man spoke of them with such casual ease. He was clearly far more familiar with the inner workings of the Cultivation Realm’s upper echelons than they were.
A pleading look surfaced in her eyes.
’In her eyes, Du Youqian was a devil incarnate. Every word he spoke targeted their deepest vulnerabilities. His methods made him seem more like a Demon Sect Disciple than they were... no, more like a titan of the Demon Sects.’
’A devil with mighty powers, at that. He hadn’t even lifted a finger, yet he had already subdued her, leaving her too terrified to move a muscle.’
’He clearly only has a Foundation Establishment Middle Stage Cultivation, so how could he subdue a Foundation Establishment Early Stage cultivator like me as easily as an adult swatting a child?’
’Even our Senior Sister at Foundation Establishment Perfection couldn’t do this!’
’Could the gap between people truly be so despairing?’
"You don’t need to worry," Du Youqian said, having already seen through her thoughts. "After all, I’m not some kind of devil."
The Red Lotus Sect disciple gasped in shock.
’Does he have a Mind Reading Secret Technique? Can I not even hide my thoughts from him?’
The monkey, however, bared its teeth, seemingly displeased with Du Youqian’s lie. ’If you’re not a devil, who is?’
"Don’t worry about your sect sisters. I’ve already notified them with my Divine Sense to come over. They’re just being cautious and haven’t approached rashly, but they’ll be here in a moment. I will give them a chance, rest assured. I will have a serious talk with them. Only if we fail to reach a consensus will I send all of you on your way. I imagine they wouldn’t be so foolish, would they?"
Tears welled up in the Red Lotus Sect disciple’s eyes.
’Sisters! You have to come through! No matter what conditions he proposes, you have to agree!’
’He’s not making idle threats; he truly has the power to slaughter us all!’
Du Youqian closed his eyes and waited in silence.
This small matter, though somewhat unexpected, was not difficult to handle.
He needed to consider more important, long-term matters.

「Shengxuan Sect.」
Yi Huai’an sat before a small tea table. The seat opposite him was empty, but steam still billowed from the cup, a clear sign that its owner had only just departed.
Yi Huai’an cradled another teacup in his palm, its glaze shifting colors in the light as his gaze gradually grew vacant.
Soon, Li Yuheng arrived and sat down before him. "Supreme Elder, did Master Baili come just now to ask for your help in driving out those Red Lotus Sect disciples?"
As the dominant local power, the upper echelons of the Shengxuan Sect were naturally aware that the Red Lotus Sect had occupied the Wu Kingdom Royal Palace.
But they were just Daoists, not reckless fools, so they naturally feigned ignorance, wanting no direct conflict with a Second-class Sect from the Demon Sect Camp.
Even the Chongzhen Sect was playing deaf and dumb; surely no one expected a mere Fourth-class Sect like them to take the lead?
The Chongzhen Sect’s reason for feigning ignorance was simple.
’You, Master Baili, have always been so full of yourself, claiming that all matters in the Wu Kingdom are your decision to make.’
’Fine, then. It’s *your* Wu Kingdom. If some unwelcome guests show up, you can deal with them yourself.’
’If you can’t handle it and need help... well, you’ll have no face to ever again claim ’I call the shots in the Wu Kingdom,’ will you?’
Yi Huai’an’s eyes slowly regained their focus.
He stroked his soft, pure-white beard and chuckled. "No, he merely inquired about the situation and left."
"Oh?" Li Yuheng’s expression turned grave. "Does he have some other trick up his sleeve? Still, this time we’ll finally get to see his accomplices."
"Accomplices?" Yi Huai’an asked, surprised. "You think he needs to call for help over a trivial matter like this?"
Li Yuheng was even more astonished. "He doesn’t? Master Baili has a Foundation Establishment Late Stage Cultivation at most, doesn’t he? Meanwhile, of these six Red Lotus Sect Inner Disciples, the weakest is at Foundation Establishment Early Stage and the strongest is at Foundation Establishment Perfection. They’re also proficient in a Battle Array Joint Attack Technique. To be brutally honest, it wouldn’t be too difficult for the six of them to slaughter our entire Shengxuan Sect. What gives Master Baili the right to fight them?"
Yi Huai’an sighed. "You are our Sect’s rising star, and one day, the Sect will be in your hands. But with judgment like yours, how can this old man rest easy? Or let me put it this way: do you believe Master Baili is incapable of slaughtering our entire Shengxuan Sect by himself?"
Li Yuheng’s expression soured. After a moment, he said, "I want to go see for myself."
"See what!" Yi Huai’an scolded. "To watch the Red Lotus Sect be humiliated? If they can’t beat Master Baili, aren’t you afraid they’ll take their frustration out on you? If they decided to attack, crushing you would be as easy as squashing a bug. Every single one of those Inner Disciples from a Second-class Sect is qualified to be a True Inheritor in our Sect! Do you think that just because you’re a True Inheritor here, you have the right to challenge them?"
Li Yuheng’s face was as dark as a thundercloud.
But he didn’t dare speak disrespectfully to Yi Huai’an. He just gave a perfunctory bow, excused himself, and departed in a hurry.
"By the time you rush over there, the battle will have been over for a long time... How many moves do you think Master Baili needs to finish them?" Yi Huai’an sighed and went back to drinking his tea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My, my, Master Baili, why so crude? Bullying my dear sister like this. Hee hee, are you trying to snatch her away to be your wife? It’s all right, I understand. What man wouldn’t be fond of such a beautiful little thing? But you can’t just attack her because you like her, you know. The disciples of the Red Lotus Sect won’t just stand by and watch one of our own get bullied!"
The voice, more melodious than a nightingale’s song, echoed from all directions—first left, then right, then front, then back.
The Little Monkey dug a finger in its ear. Its aesthetic sense differed from that of humans; it didn’t find the cloyingly sweet voice pleasant at all.
Du Youqian paid no mind to her theatrics. His Divine Sense had already locked onto her position, and he sent a message directly to her mind: "You’re over a hundred years old, and you have the gall to call yourself a ’little sister’ in front of me? Have you bothered to find out how old this Celestial Master is?"
Her voice replied, still flitting about. "They say the Celestial Master is only thirty-three. I, for one, don’t believe it. With a Cultivation as profound as yours, I’d believe you if you said you were two hundred!"
Du Youqian sneered in her direction and suddenly flicked his sleeve behind him.
"Look out, dodge!" the Red Lotus Sect disciple shrieked.
From Du Youqian’s sleeve shot a squarish, greenish-white object. It swelled in the wind, instantly expanding into a heavy, massive seal several feet wide and long.
Its aura was overwhelming, its might as vast as mountains and seas. It was a Treasure!
Two screams of pain rang out almost simultaneously, and two petite figures were sent flying backward.
They were clearly two Red Lotus Sect disciples who had used some sort of Concealment Secret Technique to approach Du Youqian from behind, only to be discovered and grievously wounded in a single strike.
