I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 307 - 302: Human Dao Sword, Its Twists and Turns

After bidding farewell to Lin Sha and returning to the Wu Kingdom, Du Youqian immediately entered seclusion. He began to condition his body and mind, preparing for another attempt at Core Formation.

Even though he was experienced with Core Formation and almost certain of success, he couldn’t afford to be careless.

He had to approach Core Formation with the utmost caution, and the step of conditioning his body and mind could not be skipped.

Fortunately, the ministers of the Wu Kingdom were already used to the Celestial Master focusing on the big picture and delegating the minor details. Thus, even though Du Youqian paid little attention to state affairs for the following year, no unexpected incidents occurred at court.

Everything moved forward in an orderly fashion.

Besides, to put it bluntly, at the kingdom’s current level of development, a single year couldn’t change much anyway.

After Du Youqian emerged from his seclusion, he first went to the designated Marketplace to retrieve the Jade Slip Lin Sha had left for him.

The Jade Slip contained some information Lin Sha had managed to gather about the organization.

According to Lin Sha, nothing major had happened recently. However, the organization’s leader, Pang Master, was extremely wary of Du Youqian and had ordered her unit to spare no effort in gathering intelligence on him.

Although Du Youqian had triggered the Array in the undersea grotto that day, his image and other identifying features hadn’t been exposed. Therefore, his current identity as Master Baili was safe, at least for the time being.

However, given how seriously Pang Master was taking the matter, combined with his formidable methods, Du Youqian figured the secret that Master Baili was the intruder in the undersea grotto likely wouldn’t remain hidden for long.

But Du Youqian remained unconcerned.

’Once I achieve Core Formation, I should be able to fight a Golden Core Late Stage cultivator without being at a disadvantage.’

’Even if my identity is exposed by then, I’ll have nothing to fear.’

He was simply playing for time.

’In my view, since Pang Master has to operate in the shadows and act secretly, he surely couldn’t dispatch a large number of Core Formation Masters to deal with me.’

’If he sends too few, they’ll just be practice fodder for my sword.’

’And if he sent a large number of Core Formation cultivators... does he really think the Taihe and Holy Blood Sects are just going to stand by and do nothing?’

At that point, as the true rulers of Momenan, the Taihe and Holy Blood Sects would inevitably discover so many rogue Core Formation Masters. They would undoubtedly move to annihilate Pang Master’s organization with the overwhelming force of a collapsing mountain.

And if the fight didn’t go their way, they would surely awaken Elder Blood Slaughter to assist them without a second thought.

Even if Pang Master had three heads and six arms, how many of Elder Blood Slaughter’s strikes could he possibly withstand?

Back then, even a Tier Six Great Saint Incarnation had its soul scattered, unable to withstand a single strike.

Thinking of the Great Saint Incarnation, Du Youqian suddenly felt a flicker of inspiration.

But when he tried to grasp it, the inspiration vanished as abruptly as it came, leaving no trace.

’If I can’t figure it out, I’ll just stop thinking about it.’

’Inspiration is like that. It might just pop up again another day.’

For the purpose of his Core Formation, Du Youqian naturally returned to Soul-shaking Mountain.

The concentration of Spiritual Qi in the Mortal World was far too low; it was completely insufficient for him to achieve Core Formation.

In truth, the Tier Two Upper Grade Spirit Vein on Soul-shaking Mountain was already somewhat lacking for the purpose of Core Formation.

However, since Du Youqian was a Body Refining Cultivator attempting Core Formation in this life, his demand for Spiritual Qi was slightly lower.

Furthermore, he had a reserve of Spiritual Diamonds, so sustaining the process until he finished his Core Formation would be no problem at all.

With Du Youqian about to attempt Core Formation again, Fang Hua didn’t dare be careless. Instead of clinging to him and draining his energy, she solemnly had him bathe, burn incense, and adjust his Essence, Qi, and Spirit to their peak condition.

As for her, she ceased her own Cultivation. She only meditated briefly each day to prevent her Magical Power from declining, dedicating herself fully to acting as Du Youqian’s Guardian.

Du Youqian was confident about attempting Core Formation again, yet he remained cautiously attentive, overlooking no detail.

Although the Core Formation of a Body Refining Cultivator differed in many ways from the orthodox method, Du Youqian was not about to be stumped by such hurdles.

However, before he officially began his Core Formation, an uninvited guest arrived on Soul-shaking Mountain.

The Core Formation Master arrived on a Flying Sword. Though he didn’t deliberately flaunt his power, the immense aura of his cultivation stage still sent the animals of Soul-shaking Mountain scurrying into their dens, and not a single bird dared take flight.

"Oh, it’s Drunk Master himself. Greetings." After the visitor landed, Du Youqian gave a lazy salute befitting an equal.

"Master You De, I trust you’ve been well!" Zeng Baoming leaped off his Flying Sword, laughing heartily as he returned the salute.

He exposed Du Youqian’s former identity with his first words, making Fang Hua so tense she nearly drew her sword and causing Du Youqian himself to startle for a moment.

Du Youqian wasn’t frightened, however. Despite his identity being exposed, he simply smiled faintly. "After I reach Core Formation in this life, I plan to take a new Daoist title."

Zeng Baoming chuckled. "Why bother with a new title? You have a perfectly good one already, don’t you? Qingxu Tongxuan Guanmiao True Monarch. It suits you quite well, Fellow Daoist."

He had clearly been keeping tabs on Du Youqian.

Du Youqian raised an eyebrow. He could sense the teasing in Zeng Baoming’s tone, but there was no malice—just some light-hearted banter. Not taking offense, he smiled in response. "If I were a True Monarch, would Drunk Master have to perform a grand salute upon seeing me?"

Zeng Baoming replied, "Once your title of True Monarch is more than just a name, I will naturally pay my respects with a grand salute."

Though he spoke with a slight smile, his eyes were serious. It was clear he wasn’t just joking.

Du Youqian nodded, inviting Zeng Baoming into the Daoist Temple and preparing some tea.

Fang Hua sat silently in a corner, saying nothing.

After a few pleasantries, Du Youqian asked, "You must have a reason for visiting today, Fellow Daoist. Why not state your intentions plainly?"

Zeng Baoming chuckled, downed his tea in one gulp, and took out a small, palm-sized Wine Gourd. He then began pouring its contents into his empty cup.

The fragrance of wine filled the air, mingled with the fresh scent of several types of Spirit Plants.

As an Alchemy Master, Du Youqian could of course identify them with ease.

The gourd wasn’t large, yet the wine flowed out endlessly. It was clearly a Storage Treasure.

After he finished, he didn’t offer any to Du Youqian or Fang Hua. He simply sealed the Wine Gourd, put it away, and explained, "Something went wrong during my Core Formation. Now I have to drink a special medicinal wine every hour. My apologies for the spectacle, Fellow Daoist."

Du Youqian said coolly, "Once I return to the Core Formation realm, I could perhaps take your pulse for you, Fellow Daoist."

Zeng Baoming replied, "I heard centuries ago that Master You De was an Alchemy Master. I appreciate the kind thought, but an elder of my Sect, Tongming Master, once said that I would need to find a Tier Four Alchemy Grandmaster to have even a glimmer of hope of resolving my hidden ailment."

In truth, specialization is key in any field. There are some problems a Tier Four Alchemy Grandmaster can’t solve, which a Tier Three Alchemy Master can.

But since Zeng Baoming himself wasn’t pursuing it, Du Youqian certainly wasn’t going to press the matter.

Zeng Baoming took a few sips of wine. His face flushed, and he squinted as if in enjoyment, though in reality he was refining the medicinal power of the drink.

After a few moments, he spoke. "Actually, Fellow Daoist, when you came to Yu Kun Mountain as a child, I had already recognized you. My sect, you see, is extremely familiar with and sensitive to Sword Intent. To those like us, your Sword Intent is as conspicuous as a candle in the dead of night—impossible to misidentify. At the time, however, you clearly hadn’t yet broken through the Mystery of the Womb, so I didn’t point it out."

"I see," Du Youqian said.

’I wonder if Pang Master could recognize my Sword Intent if he were standing right in front of me.’

’Probably not.’

In his youth, before he had broken through the Mystery of the Womb, he couldn’t control his Sword Intent at will. It would even emanate spontaneously, causing all the swords in the vicinity to pay homage, which naturally made the characteristics of his Sword Intent easy to recognize.

Now, however, if he chose to conceal it, even Zeng Baoming wouldn’t be able to detect his Sword Intent, despite being face-to-face with him.

"You must have broken through part of the Mystery of the Womb by now, Fellow Daoist, and recalled some things from your past life."

Du Youqian gave a vague reply. "I have many friends. Even if I can’t recall certain things myself, they are always there to remind me. So, if you wish to talk about the past, Fellow Daoist, feel free to speak plainly."

’The secret that I can recall my past lives with perfect clarity is best kept from too many people.’

Zeng Baoming’s thoughts didn’t stray in that direction either.

’That was clearly impossible, after all.’

According to ancient lore, for a cultivator to fully recover the memories of a past life, they had to be at least a True Monarch, a Great Power—and not a self-proclaimed True Monarch like Du Youqian.

He leaned forward and asked earnestly, "The main reason for my visit is to ask: how is your comprehension of the Human Dao Sword progressing, Fellow Daoist?"

Du Youqian mulled it over for a moment. Sensing no malice from Zeng Baoming, he answered truthfully, "Zong Wu True Monarch’s Sword Collection Annotation is as profound and extensive as the Blood Slaughter Sword Scripture. I’ve only spent a little energy on a brief study, so I have yet to grasp the Sword Intent of the Human Dao Sword. My original plan was to put more effort into it after I achieve Core Formation."

Of course, Du Youqian’s claim that Zong Wu True Monarch’s Sword Collection Annotation was on par with the Blood Slaughter Sword Scripture was merely to be polite.

In reality, the Sword Collection Annotation was slightly superior to the incomplete version of the Blood Slaughter Sword Scripture.

But compared to the complete version of the Blood Slaughter Sword Scripture that he had mastered, it was like a firefly trying to outshine the bright moon.

Well, perhaps that was a bit of an exaggeration.

But in his view, whether it was the Celestial Dao Sword, the Human Dao Sword, the Heartless Sword, or the Extreme Emotion Sword, while they were slightly stronger than the two Sword Intents of Blood Sacrifice and Blood Food, there was still a significant gap when compared to Sword Intents like Annihilate, Piercing, Slaughter, Tu, and Extermination.

The Human Dao Sword, in particular, seemed completely inept at killing, based on his brief contemplation of it.

He had already spent a life to obtain the complete Blood Slaughter Sword Scripture. If he could master it to the Great Success stage, he might even have a chance to become the new owner of the Blood Slaughter Sword itself.

He wouldn’t abandon the essentials for the sake of the trivial by spending too much time on the Human Dao Sword; he only needed to put in enough effort to understand its basics.

Zeng Baoming’s expression turned serious. "Fellow Daoist, do you know why I went through such roundabout means to deliver the inheritance of the Human Dao Sword to you?"
