I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 344 - 339: Blood Slaughter Sword: Next Time, It’ll Cost Extra

Fang Hua and Master Wu Ai relied on each other during the enemy attack. Though it was their first time teaming up, they seemed to be in perfect sync.

One was a Direct Inheritance disciple from a Major Sect at the Golden Core Middle Stage, possessing a wide array of techniques. The other, though from a minor sect, was a Golden Core Late Stage Cultivator. Her methods were few, specializing only in Swordsmanship, but her Sword Intent was incredibly sharp, comparable to a True Inheritor of the Lingxiao Sword Pavilion.

By joining forces and covering each other’s weaknesses, their group managed to get through without any real danger and were the first to eliminate the attacking zombies.

After they finished off that wave, no new zombies came to replace them.

It seemed Master Nine saw how strong they were and didn’t want to waste his forces in a war of attrition. He simply left them alone, concentrating his superior strength to attack the cultivators in other groups.

Master Wu Fei’s group received the same treatment. Master Nine only sent a few zombies to harass them as a token gesture, never expecting to actually take down Master Wu Fei.

At the same time, however, other groups began to suffer casualties.

Du Youqian remained still, making no move. As long as those in peril weren’t close to him, he simply pretended not to see.

These people had never called him "Dad" or "Grandpa," nor had they ever shown him any proper respect.

If they died, they died. Did they really expect him to risk his life to save them?

His attention remained focused on finding Master Nine.

But Master Nine was truly cautious. From beginning to end, he only sent out wave after wave of zombies. He didn’t pop out to make his presence known like a typical villain, cackling "JIE JIE JIE" and spouting a few taunts.

He was so silent, it was as if the place was running on its own, with no one hiding behind the scenes at all.

Du Youqian observed for a long time. By now, two of the Core Formation Cultivators who had stormed the South Sea Blessed Land had fallen, and several others were injured. Only then did Du Youqian use his Divine Sense to contact Jie Yu. "Try to secretly tell Elder Wu Fei the method to break this Array. Then, coordinate with him from the outside to break it."

Jie Yu smiled faintly. "Are you trying to make that fellow focus all his attention on me? After you refined the Creation Jade Scroll Fragment, the uniqueness of my soul vanished. Although I can advance now, I’d only be at the Golden Core Middle Stage Cultivation. If he were to launch a full-power sneak attack, do you think I could block it? This body is so exquisite, and I haven’t even had a chance to enjoy the pleasures of the mortal world. Wouldn’t it be a shame to discard it so soon?"

Hearing her maintain such a saintly aura while speaking such suggestive words in a flirtatious tone, only an old monster like Du Youqian, who had lived for nearly a thousand years, could restrain himself. Anyone else would have had their filial piety twist into beastly desire on the spot.

Du Youqian placated her, "Master, you underestimate me. I will definitely protect you! I won’t let that guy harm a single hair on your head."

Jie Yu sighed. "Nothing good ever comes from seeing you. Now you’re making me do this dangerous work again... Fine, fine. I’ll just consider it a debt I owe you from a past life."

Du Youqian thought, ’It seems you really *did* owe me in your last life...’

Of course, saying that out loud would disrupt their harmony. Keeping a meticulous tally of debts wasn’t the way for friends to get along.

The key was, you could never win an argument with a woman... If he dared to say, "You’re the one who owed me in our last life," Jie Yu would absolutely conjure up a ledger proving he was the one who owed an enormous, unpayable debt.

So he didn’t bring it up. As long as Jie Yu was willing to do it, that was all that mattered.

He then saw Jie Yu move slightly closer and transmit a message to Master Wu Fei via Divine Sense.

Jie Yu’s actions would definitely attract Master Nine’s attention. Du Youqian focused his concentration, ready to protect Jie Yu the instant Master Nine made a move.

But to his surprise, the expected attack never came.

Meanwhile, Master Wu Fei, who had been trapped in the array, had already begun to act, directing his small team to start dismantling the Array.

Du Youqian watched for a moment, then suddenly felt that something was wrong. He focused his gaze on Jie Yu and saw that in that short time, she had become listless and sickly. She had obviously realized something was wrong as well, but she just bit her lip and said nothing.

Du Youqian probed with his Divine Sense and discovered that her Golden Core was densely entangled with the plague poison. Given his recent study of this toxin, he knew the dosage was so great that Jie Yu would perish in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn.

The poison was so potent that Du Youqian even suspected that if she were to abandon her current body and attempt Possession, the toxin would cling to her soul and follow her into the new vessel.

Without a second thought, Du Youqian extended his Divine Sense, preparing to communicate with Jie Yu.

But just as his Divine Sense drew near, it was severed by a sharp will.

Jie Yu must have used some kind of Secret Technique to cut off his attempt to contact her.

Jie Yu’s face was pale. She slowly shook her head, indicating that Du Youqian should not communicate with her via Divine Sense, lest the poison spread.

Du Youqian didn’t know what Jie Yu was thinking now. Faced with such a seemingly hopeless situation, what choice would she make?

In truth, Du Youqian had a way to save her. He had a specific antidote Elixir, and as long as Master Nine was annihilated, he could use his Sword Intent to help her clear the residual poison from her Golden Core.

But Jie Yu didn’t know that!

Du Youqian desperately wanted to find a way to tell her, ’Just hold on a little longer, I will definitely save you,’ to put her at ease.

He didn’t want to test Jie Yu.

But Jie Yu actually revealed a smile.

Though her face was pale, it was a truly brilliant and joyful smile.

Then she nodded and began to circulate her energy, fighting the toxin with all her might to save herself.

Du Youqian wasn’t entirely sure what she was trying to convey.

But since she hadn’t given up, there was no need for him to expose himself so soon.

Inside the array, Master Wu Fei’s group of Cultivators finally broke out. They then began to rescue the other Cultivators.

By this point, the number of fallen Core Formation Masters had reached five, with several more gravely injured. It was uncertain if they could be saved.

Considering they had only dispatched eighteen Cultivators in total for this mission, their losses were devastating.

Fortunately, the most powerful combatants were still largely unharmed.

Having received Jie Yu’s guidance, Master Wu Fei naturally knew she was lying in wait nearby. But he was a seasoned veteran and didn’t try to look for her. After rescuing the remaining Cultivators, he called out in a loud voice, "Fellow Daoist Master Nine, we have come from afar as guests. Can you not even observe the courtesy of greeting us in person?"

A voice, slightly cunning yet also raspy and stiff, rang out, "Master Wu Fei possesses Mighty Powers, and Master Fang Hua’s Sword Intent is sharp. My life may not be worth much, but I myself still cherish it. So I won’t be coming out to take any risks. Everyone, I have prepared a grand feast for you. Please, take your time and enjoy!"

Du Youqian remained hidden, cautiously searching for Master Nine’s presence.

However, the man was only speaking through a few zombies. Du Youqian was tempted to use those zombies as a springboard to locate Master Nine’s true body, but he worried that the cunning Master Nine might have laid some small traps on them, so he suppressed the impulse.

Instead, he focused his full attention on the area around Master Wu Fei and the others. If Master Nine were to strike, he would have to leave some trace behind.

Just then, another wave of zombies charged out, again a mix of Demon Zombies and the reanimated corpses of Core Formation Masters who had passed away or fallen over the ages.

In terms of numbers, however, there were even fewer than in the first wave.

The first wave of zombies had only managed to kill five Core Formation Masters and gravely injure several others by using the array to separate the Cultivators and create situations where many fought few.

This second wave was smaller, and their quality didn’t seem any better. Facing the Human Race Cultivators, with Master Wu Fei and Fang Hua leading the charge, they logically shouldn’t be able to gain any advantage.

The battle began instantly. Du Youqian suddenly had a flash of insight and focused his Divine Sense on the Core Formation Early Stage and Golden Core Middle Stage Cultivators who had survived so far.

Soon, Du Youqian spotted a Plague Divine Ability silently streaking toward a Core Formation Master!

The moment the Core Formation Master was hit, he immediately became gravely ill. His Magical Power wouldn’t coalesce, and his Golden Core ceased to function, leaving him weaker than even a typical Perfect Foundation Establishment Cultivator.

If not for the quick eyes and hands of his companions, he would have fallen right then and there.

"Everyone, be careful!" Master Wu Fei had noticed something was wrong. "That Master Nine must be nearby, launching sneak attacks!"

Du Youqian did not act, but continued to observe. After a moment, another Plague Divine Ability silently shot toward a different Core Formation Master.

Du Youqian still didn’t move. Instead, he began recording the Divine Ability with his Spring and Autumn Brush while simultaneously tracing it back to its source.

Finally, he discovered it! The source of the Divine Ability was, unbelievably, coming from within the body of a Demon Zombie!

That Demon Zombie looked stiff and ordinary in its movements. Who would have thought Master Nine was hiding inside it?

Du Youqian glanced at Jie Yu. Though her face was pale, she looked like she could hold on for a little longer.

So he continued to wait.

After a brief pause, Master Nine struck again, and another Core Formation Master fell.

This time, Du Youqian didn’t hesitate for a second. He swiftly condensed the "Annihilate" Sword Intent within his body—not the most powerful against a single target, but the best for utter eradication and eliminating future trouble—and simultaneously summoned the Blood Slaughter Sword from afar.

At the same time, he locked his Divine Sense onto Master Nine, who was hiding inside the Demon Zombie.

"Huh? You..." The instant Du Youqian’s Divine Sense locked onto Master Nine, his target realized he’d been found. But instead of fleeing in a panic, he immediately activated a Defensive Divine Ability.

This was exactly what Du Youqian had hoped for.

In the next instant, the power of the Blood Slaughter Sword surged across the distance, and with it came two thoughts from the sword’s consciousness.

"Kid, you’re so weak..."

"Next time, it’ll cost you extra..."

Du Youqian focused his spirit and swung the sword with all his might.
