This battle between the two was completely different from the previous fight against the God of Light.
The earlier battle had been more of a contest of Divine Power, a competition of its application and depth.
Now, the fight between Zhao Rui and the God of War was more of a competition of technique.
The God of War called himself the God of War for a reason; he was naturally incomparable to ordinary gods. Not only was his personal Divine Power formidable, but his Martial Peak was also the highest among the gods.
Even the simplest Techniques in his hands could burst forth with dazzling splendor.
As for Zhao Rui, it went without saying; his knowledge was exceptionally diverse, and of all the people he had met, none knew more. Moreover, he could learn and supplement his abilities anytime, anywhere.
The two clashed, their battle Returning to the True as they resorted to the simplest of techniques, using only their fists and feet.
Every Technique was so simple it seemed like child’s play, yet the power contained within each move was astonishing. Streaks of spatial tears constantly appeared and vanished where their fists and feet met.
Watching the two fight like this, the God of Light couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.
He knew the God of War’s strength surpassed his own. Although he had his own Killing Moves and wouldn’t be completely helpless, he never expected the God of War’s power to have reached such a level.
If the God of War had used these Martial Arts earlier, he certainly would not have been able to withstand them. He couldn’t imagine what a pathetic state he would have ended up in.
No matter how strong one’s Divine Power was, it still had to be channeled. He wasn’t a tortoise in its shell, able to stand perfectly still and remain invulnerable.
The God of War’s strength was one thing, but who in the heavens was this Twelve-winged Bright Angel who had appeared out of nowhere? He was actually able to trade blows evenly with the God of War.
Could it be?
The God of Light couldn’t help but recall an old story from the distant past, ten thousand years ago.
Back then, he was just an ordinary divine warrior in the Divine Domain. By a stroke of luck, he had encountered the Taige Divine Envoy, who had been exiled to the Wilderness Star Realm.
Under the Divine Envoy’s secret tutelage, he mastered the sacred arts of the Bright lineage and eventually grew to become the God of Light, one of the twelve main gods of the Divine Domain.
He remembered the Taige Divine Envoy once mentioning that he had a first disciple who was later swept away by spatio-temporal turbulence and lost in the River of Chaos.
’Could he be my long-lost senior brother?’
The God of Light’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with thoughts. He stared unblinkingly at the two combatants on the battlefield.
He seemed to be waiting for something, yet also contemplating something.
After an unknown amount of time, the God of Light’s eyes suddenly shot out a ray of faint light, striking the God of War with pinpoint accuracy.
Instantly, a vast surge of Bright Divine Power acted like a magnet, completely trapping the God of War’s figure within it.
The God of War was shocked. No matter how he tried to unleash his Divine Power, his entire body felt as if it were stuck in a swamp, making every movement difficult and incredibly slow.
"Senior Brother, what are you waiting for? This guy has always been arrogant and has never shown our Bright lineage any respect!"
The God of Light shouted.
"Senior Brother?"
Zhao Rui’s eyes narrowed. He couldn’t figure out what tricks the God of Light had up his sleeve.
However, since the God of War was immobilized, it would be a crying shame not to take this opportunity.
He casually drew the long-unused Tribulation-Breaking Sword from his back. Instantly, a golden dragon emerged savagely, swelling to a thousand meters in length in the blink of an eye. It bared its sharp fangs and lunged toward the God of War.
The God of War’s pupils widened in terror. "God of Light, you can’t kill me!" he roared. "I am one of the twelve main gods! Are you trying to rebel?"
"No!"
The God of War’s muscles tensed as he pushed his Divine Power to its absolute limit.
PSHH!
A bloody gash spread across his arm.
Blood trickled from the wound like a small stream.
HUFF!
Clutching his wound and panting heavily, the God of War cut a pathetic figure as he looked at Zhao Rui and the God of Light.
"Today, I was reckless. God of Light, we will meet again."
After speaking, the God of War instantly transformed into a streak of light, shot into the void, and vanished from their sight.
"Senior Brother, it’s enough to teach him a lesson. There’s no need to deliver a fatal blow. He is, after all, one of the twelve main gods. If we really killed him, the supreme Thunder God would rain down his fury upon us both. The gain would not be worth the loss."
The God of Light explained with a smile.
At the critical moment, it was he who had relaxed his control over the God of War.
He had assumed Zhao Rui would just give him a beating, but he never imagined Zhao Rui would go straight for a Killing Move.
"You called me Senior Brother?"
"Yes, Senior Brother. Master has spoken of you. You might not know, but I was the one Master took in after you disappeared."
