"Impossible!"
The assembled gods were horrified, their expressions frozen in shock. For a moment, no one even moved to check on the God-King’s condition.
It wasn’t until the God-King coughed up blood that the gods snapped back to reality. They rushed over, asking frantically, "God-King? God-King, are you all right?"
The God-King’s face was grim. He had no strength to answer their questions. He could only stare at Zhao Rui with a mixture of indignation and terror before saying dejectedly, "You’ve won!"
"From this day forward, you are the God-King of the Nine Domains!"
"God-King?"
"God-King!"
The other gods glanced at their king, then back at Zhao Rui, stunned into silence. They never expected the God-King to concede so readily.
"I have no interest in being the God-King!"
Zhao Rui raised a hand, cutting the God-King off. "Since I am the victor," he stated calmly, "then I should have a place for myself within the Nine Domains!"
With that, he scanned the Bright Divine Domain and nodded. "Henceforth, I shall be the Sun God and reside in the Bright Divine Domain. Do not disturb my tranquility unless the Nine Domains themselves are in peril of being overthrown. Other than that, everything continues as before!"
"This...?"
The God-King’s expression was uncertain. He had no idea what game Zhao Rui was playing. He started to speak, then stopped himself.
The other gods didn’t dare to breathe, let alone show where they stood.
The Bright God, however, was sharp. After a moment’s hesitation, he instantly dropped to one knee and proclaimed, "Sun God-King, your divine might is boundless, your glory shines upon the Nine Domains, and your blessings are eternal!"
The other gods froze. They exchanged glances, then looked at the former God-King. With awkward expressions, they all knelt to the ground in a gesture of worship.
The God-King’s face was pale. He suddenly felt a gaze sweep over him, and his heart trembled. With a silent, inward sigh, he dejectedly lowered his head and bowed.
That bow signified his submission.
From that day forward, the Nine Domains had a Divine Venerable King, one who reigned supreme over all gods and even the God-King.
"All of you may disperse."
Zhao Rui waved his hand, and his figure gradually vanished from sight.
Seeing this, the God-King said nothing more. He didn’t even address the other gods, simply vanishing on the spot in a flash of lightning, leaving no trace behind.
With the God-King gone, the remaining gods exchanged glances before flocking toward the Bright God, their faces wreathed in smiles as they greeted him.
The Bright God rolled his eyes but quickly concealed his true feelings.
He cheerfully invited the other gods for a tour of his Bright God Temple.
The gods, knowing his relationship with the Sun God-King was anything but shallow, readily agreed. They all mounted paths of divine light and departed together.
「On a secluded mountain peak somewhere in the Bright Divine Domain.」
Zhao Rui sat alone, cross-legged, his gaze filled with a faint sorrow.
He had been away from Blue Star for far too long.
Now, the prospect of finding that fractured exit was as remote as ever. He didn’t have so much as a single clue.
This left him feeling anxious, and more than a little impatient.
The universe was vast, but a Martial Artist’s lifespan was finite.
He didn’t want to waste his life adrift in this rootless, empty expanse of space.
He yearned to enjoy the warmth of family and the simple, bustling life on Blue Star.
"Blue Star... Just where is it?"
Zhao Rui murmured to himself.
...
The cosmos of the Nine Domains was vast and boundless—a massive expanse of space encompassing multiple Star Realms and covering half a galaxy.
This galaxy was not only larger than the Milky Way Galaxy, but significantly so.
In the past, because of the stability of the Nine Domains, it was a favored destination for lifeforms from the surrounding Star Realms. They came either to bathe in the divine light and become subjects of the gods, or to conduct trade, promoting exchange between the Star Realms.
All in all, it was a stable corner of the cosmos.
Unfortunately, this stability had recently been disrupted. Countless people throughout the Divine Domains sensed a grim tension in the air.
Many armies and attendants were rushing about, searching for something everywhere.
No one knew what they were searching for, nor why they were rushing about.
But such large-scale troop deployments were impossible not to notice.
