Morning came almost to soon as the both of us rose and tended to ourselves in the usual manner. The boss room's door still looming at us on the far side of the safe room.
Carter was finishing the last bite of his jerky with thoughts on the fight ahead. The dive of the dungeon itself was pretty easy, though from what he had seen C-Rank adventurers wouldnt have the level of power the two of them had, by his reckoning because of their stat distribution they both were probably closer to A-rank in terms of power alone.
The 6-9th floors had been filled with relatively easy opponents, well easy to them. The ninth floor especially was interesting cause the mob they encountered there were Goblin knights, the same creature they had struggled on and nearly died to on the 5th floor was now just a casual mob that could be taken down in one or two blows easily.
He even had to shake his head a little bit when thinking about how not even once had he needed to check on their stat boards yesterday as they dove deeper into the dungeon since his masterclass swordsmanship aided by the Goblin Knights dagger, and her Max level fire magic multiplied by perfect elemental affinity had Hobgoblins, Warg Riders, and Goblin Knights look like paper tigers.

Pulling up Sara's panel Carter was a bit shocked to find out just how much she had grown in the last day, sure they had taken down dozens of goblin knights now but even so, her level had just about caught up to his own, adding to the fact that she was older than he was and her stat total meant she could become stronger than he, who was her master.
This excessive levelling did have one major bonus though, and that was Sara now had 17 points that were ready to be assigned to further boost her powers to even greater heights.
Well first things first her staff arts will be maxed out as it will increase her melee combat, while also possibly giving her a boost if we can get her a proper staff to use in the capital.
Two more points into strength and stamina to increase her overall ability and longevity in battle. And finally overclock her magical pool by putting seven points into her mana since her biggest weakness aside from close combat right now was running out of mana since the casting of her top level fire spells were enough to wipe out her entire reserve after just a single cast or two.
This was the only change that caused a reaction as the minute her mana stat went from 8 to 15, the safe room felt like there was an intense wind blowing as all the air tried desperately to rush towards Sara who looked confused at first but after sensing her mana levels rising didnt object or raise any questions since it was her masters doing and he'd made her stronger.

The last thing Carter did to her status was check out the new additions to her Job: previously she had been a Fire Magician the lowest rung for a fire based mage apparently.
Now selecting the drop down there were a dozen jobs all related to fire, and scanning that list many of them seemed like bad choices to be made, possibly even affecting Sara's mind into becoming a criminal, so after giving them all a good once over he settle for the best but safest sounding choice.
'Fire Master Magician'
Given she had maxed out her fire magic, being called a master mage wasnt to much of an ask, and if this also added a cumulative boost beyond what she already received then all the better for it, but the question would still come soon on if keeping her as a pure fire mage was the direction he should take her in, or if he should branch out her magic to encompass other elements as well...
But that thought was quickly shook from his head as those were thoughts for later, next up came his own stat board.

His panel was more spread out than Sara's one, and his total points to be used were also less but it was understandable he was five years younger than her and his own level was higher than hers resulting in a slower levelling speed do to each level taking greater challenges and requiring more experience slaying monsters to accomplish.
But even so 9 points awaited his distribution in preparation of their toughest fight yet, the boss of the Goblins, probably a goblin king itself.
Though looking over his status, Carter wasnt sure where exactly to put his points, he always like to keep a few in reserve just in case of unexpected situations for a last minute targetted power boost in case he came across a foe he couldnt predict and prepare for, but now even if he knew he'd be facing a goblin king, the only stat that he wanted to choose was Sword Saint, but instinct still heavily warded him away from that one.
Picking up a fresh stat wasnt appealing since nothing he chose would make a marked difference on his current fighting style, the most marked improvement he could make would be through boosting Stamina, Strength, and Natural Recovery to become a true terror of the battlefield.
A monster master swordsman, who can endlessly swing his sword, recover from hits he takes, and arm wrestle a giant. All while still being able to slip away into the shadows to unleash his most crushing blows like the grim reaper itself.
So thats just what he did, keeping 4 points in reserve, he invested 1 point into strength, 2 into Natural recovery, and 2 in to Stamina.
Feeling refreshed even though he'd only just woken up, Carter got up from his seat, dusted off his clothes and after giving Sara a quick glance who only nodded back in response the two placed their hands on the Massive door, which swung open easier than it should have, revealing the boss room.
Though it was far from what either had expected to see when they thought about what they were going to face.
On the far end of the room was what Carter expected, a raised platform with a hulking goblin twice the size of the Goblin knights sitting on a throne made up of bones, the Goblin King. But the shocking part was the sides of the throne room, were filled with counters and shelves looking like an alchemists workshop, a far cry from the deepest hold of a goblins hole.
